Chapter 389
Married in a Flash Embarking on the Journey to Wealth
Chapter 389
Leslie looked at his colleagues in confusion. âWhat bed?â
âThe bruise is only showing up now, so it should beâ¦â The colleague chuckled,
It was a joke, but he couldnât explicitly say it because, after all, Leslie was his boss.
Following his colleagueâs gaze, Leslie rubbed his forehead. âIt was Aurella who bumped
into me.â
He thought his explanation was clear, but his colleagueâs laughter became even more cryptic.
âIs Mrs. Snyder okay?â
âShe went to the hospital,â Leslie said.
Everyone spat their coffee out in surprise and looked at Leslie in shock.
Was Leslie really that intense?
Leslie looked at them, still puzzled. âWhatâs going on?â
Daniel then put down his coffee and approached him, saying, âMr. Synder, this is something better discussed in private. Letâs not talk about it anymore.â
But Leslie sat down and said, âExplain it to me.â
Daniel sighed and whispered, âYou donât need to bring up your private affairs with Ms. Simmons, right?â
âWho said it wasâ¦â Leslie suddenly realized that his words had been misinterpreted.
âMr. Synder, itâs just human nature to go overboard sometimes. Besides, look at Ms. Simmonsâ face. Sheâs so beautiful and lovely.
âAny man would feel protective, right? Well, except for me. And her figure, so perfectly shaped. Who wouldnât be tempted? Of course, except for me.â
âExcept for you? Seems like youâve got it all figured out.â Leslie raised an eyebrow.
âNo, Mr. Synder. What I meant was, itâs normal for you to feel that way about Ms. Simmons,â Daniel hurriedly explained.
âI donât feel that way about anyone,â Leslie said meaningfully.

âMaybe⦠your love runs deep.â Daniel analyzed.
âGet back to work.â Leslie dismissed the notion of love.
âOkay.â Daniel quickly left.
After that, Leslie leaned back in his chair and took a moment to relax with his eyes closed.
Just then, Cynthiaâs voice came from the office. âWhyâs everyone in such a good mood today?â
âItâs all because of Mr. Synder⦠He showed up with a big bump on his forehead.â A
perceptive colleague immediately redirected the conversation to Leslie again, pointing to the noticeable bump on his forehead.
Upon noticing this, Cynthia immediately approached Leslie and reached out to touch his forehead.
However, Leslie quickly dodged her and said, âLetâs get back to work.â He kept it brief to save Cynthia from embarrassment and put an end to the joking.
Cynthiaâs hand hung in the air for a moment before she awkwardly withdrew it. Then, she sat down to work.
Recently, Jason had taken his annual leave to accompany his wife who had just given birth. So, Cynthia had volunteered to temporarily handle his responsibilities.
After all, she didnât want Leslie to see her as someone who couldnât balance professional and personal matters.
Shortly after, Jessica from the reception knocked on the door and entered the room. âMs. Whitlock, Iâve arranged the interviewees in the meeting room. Here are their resumés.â
âOkay.â Cynthia took a look at the stack of resumés.
Then, she frowned slightly and called out to Jessica, âJessica, how did you screen these applicants? Our company doesnât hire female employees.â
âBut I checked the online job postings, and it didnât mention any gender restrictions,â Jessica replied, puzzled.
âThatâs impossible. Donât go thinking that you can change the information just because you got hired,â Cynthia said, displeased.
