Chapter 45
Married in a Flash Embarking on the Journey to Wealth
Chapter 45
At that moment, Danielâs call came in.
âMr. Synder, the morning meeting is about to start. You might be late.â Daniel heard the sound of water and hesitated. âYouâre not washing dishes again, are you?â
âYeah,â came Leslieâs casual response. âDaniel, go get a fan for me.
âWhat do you need it for?â Daniel inquired curiously.
âItâs so hot doing the dishes,â replied Leslie.
Daniel was speechless. He wondered why Leslie
I gave off the vibes of a family man.
Leslie soon finished cleaning up. After drying his hands and straightening his clothes, he noticed the packed lunch boxes on the table. Without much hesitation, he grabbed them and headed downstairs.
As he got into the car, Daniel noticed the blue bag in Leslieâs hand.
âMr. Synder, youâre too kind. You even brought me breakfast,â Daniel remarked. He then reached out to take the bag, but Leslie stopped him with a tap on the hand.
âBuy your own if you want to eat. Give me the morning meeting files,â Leslie instructed.
âOkay.â Daniel refrained from any further jokes and promptly handed over the files.
Flipping through the documents, Leslieâs expression turned serious and composed. He resembled a cold yet mesmerizing statueâone that invited attention but discouraged proximity.
Meanwhile, at Young Advertising, Aurelia reached the company just right on time.
After clocking in, she breathed out a sigh of relief. Aurelia settled into her seat and wiped away her sweat. It was then that Millie approached her with a mischievous grin on her face.
Aurelia felt uncomfortable with Millieâs intense gaze. âWhatâs up? Is there something on my face?â
âItâs not about your face, but your lips,â Millie replied with a teasing grin, followed by an air
kiss.
Aurelia hastily covered her mouth. Her face, which had just calmed down, flushed red again.
Millie teased, âAurelia, are things that intense for newlyweds?â
âNo, it was just a bump,â she tried to explain.
Pointing to her lips, Millie joked, âAh, I get it. You âbumpedâ into your husbandâs lips.â
Aurelia pushed Millieâs chair lightly and focused on her work. She said, âIâm not in the mood for chitchat right now.â
âSeriously, Aurelia, I feel a bit sorry for you. Youâre quite attractive and capable. Even if donât choose Seth, you could find someone better. Maybe someone more, well, appealing?â
Millie avoided the term âuglyâ and used âappealingâ instead.

Aurelia didnât quite understand Millieâs point and responded, âHeâs actually a good person.â
Millie sighed and relented. âAlright, alright, as long as youâre happy.â
At that precise moment, the clear clacks of high heels echoed from the door. Everyone instantly recognized the arrival without having to look it was Kimberly.
The colleagues glanced up as Kimberly entered with new branded attire. It was as if Florenceâs derision didnât concern her at all.
âGood morning, guys!â she greeted cheerfully, and waved her hand with an incredibly radiant
smile.
âKimberly, you look stunning today! Are these clothes and this bag brand new? They must be pricey, right?â someone commented.
âTheyâre gifts and didnât cost me a penny. I initially declined, but he insisted. Heâd be upset if I refused. For the sake of our company collaboration, I had to accept it,â Kimberly boasted.
âCompanyâs collaboration? We prioritize our partnership with One Technology the most. Could it be their boss? Heâs truly nouveau riche to splurge so lavishly,â a colleague admired.
âNo, stop spreading rumors. Iâve never admitted anything. Otherwise, people might accuse me of enticing clients.â
As Kimberly stated, she cast a meaningful glance toward Aurelia. She was obviously implying that Aurelia accused her of such actions.
Aurelia stayed silent. She didnât want to become a part of Kimberlyâs flaunting wealth.
Despite Kimberlyâs verbal denial, her tone suggested that they had guessed correctly. Her attire was indeed a gift from One Technologyâs boss.
A colleague chimed in, âWho dares to say that? Sheâs clearly jealous of you.â
