Chapter 60
Married in a Flash Embarking on the Journey to Wealth
Chapter 60
As Aurelia looked at him, a thought crossed her mind.
Leslie had a car, and getting him to send her to work would be faster than using the subway. Not only would she not be late, but she could also use Leslie to shut Seth and the other people up.
Was this a stroke of luck from the heavens?
Standing in the foyer, Aurelia hesitated but eventually voiced her request.
âMr. Synder, could you drop me off at the office? I canât afford to be late again this month.â Leslie, who was currently adjusting his tie, paused in his actions.
His expression darkened.
So, had Aurelia really decided to use him to provoke her exâboyfriend?
He looked at her and happened to see the pair of high heels next to her feet.
âFine,â he said indifferently.
He was curious to see how this drama would unfold.
âThank you,â Aurelia thanked him and quickly put on her shoes.
Leslie drove fast, and they were almost at her workplace in what felt like the blink of an eye.
However, Aurelia couldnât shake off the increasing nervousness as they got closer to the company.
Inadvertently, she clutched her bag tightly.
Leslie was kindly giving her a ride to work, but there she was, taking advantage of him. What was the difference between her behavior and Sethâs?
Unable to bear the guilt, Aurelia exclaimed, âPlease pull over!â
She didnât need to drag Leslie into her mess just to spite Seth. He was a piece of shit, and he didnât deserve anything!
Leslie frowned and parked the car at the side of the road.
âWhatâs wrong? Weâre almost at your office.â
Wasnât this what Aurelia had wanted?
âIâd like to buy you breakfast. Thereâs a bakery nearby, and the croissants there are delicious. Iâll be back real quick.â
Aurelia hurriedly left the car, bought two croissants and two cups of coffee, and returned to
the car.
âMr. Synder, since weâre almost at the office, you donât need to drop me off there. I can manage it from here. Iâll leave your breakfast in the passenger seat, so make sure to take it later.â
Leslie glanced at the food, turned off the ignition, and leaned lazily against the car door.
The sunlight streaming in through the windows were reflected in his eyes, making them look like a pool of cold spring water.
âAurelia, do you think I would believe that? Explain clearly.â
Aurelia hesitated, sighed, and then got into the car.
âActually⦠my exâboyfriend is waiting for me up ahead. He doesnât believe that I could get married so quickly, and he insists on getting back together with me. Heâs been bothering me for days.
âSince I woke up late today, I originally thought that you could drop me off, and Iâd just go along with it and make him give up. But I know that there are a lot of people waiting to watch the drama thatâll unfold, and you wonât like that.
âMr. Synder, Iâm really sorry. I almost got you involved in this mess.â
Hearing this, the coldness in Leslieâs eyes softened slightly, replaced by a more scrutinizing and questioning gaze.
âYou donât want to get back together with him?â
âNo.â
âNot at all?â Leslieâs voice deepened, carrying an intimidating tone.
âNot at all.â Aurelia shook her head.
âFasten your seatbelt,â Leslie said calmly as he started the car.
Aurelia hesitated, âAre you really going to send me there?â
Leslie said lightly, âIf not? Should I let my wife continue to get harassed by her exâboyfriend?
His wife?
Aurelia blushed, feeling a little embarrassed. But her rationality prompted her to reach out and gently hold Leslieâs hand.
As soon as she touched his warm skin, she immediately withdrew her hand and shifted her body.
âThereâs no need for that.â
âWhat did you say?â
Leslieâs voice was terrifyingly cold. Could it be that she enjoyed being pursued by her ex- boyfriend?
