Chapter 64
Kimberly waved her hand and said, âAurelia, please donât misunderstand. We didnât mean to pressure you. We were just concerned that Millie might have been deceived. Letâs head upstairs
now.
âOh, it seems like the elevator canât fit all of us. You can take the next one.â
With that, Kimberly and her group entered the elevator and closed the doors. Millie stomped her foot and gritted her teeth, âOne day, Iâll surpass her!â
Hearing this, Aurelia frowned and looked at Millieâs swollen feet.
Millie usually wore sneakers, so her feet hadnât been exposed to the sun in a long time and were very pale. However, her feet were quite wide, making them unsuitable for wearing such stiff high heels. With the fiveâinch pointed heels practically forcing her to walk on tiptoes, her pale flesh became even more prominent.
Her feet were now swollen, and it didnât look good at all. As she was wearing a floral skirt, it also looked quite mismatched.
Aurelia sighed softly and took out some adhesive bandages and iodine swabs from her bag, handing them to Millie.
âYour feet are all chafed. You should take care of them immediately.â
âOuchâ¦â Millie tiptoed, leaning on Aureliaâs shoulder. âWhy are these heels so difficult to walk in? It felt like I was stepping on nails when I was in the subway.â
âMillie, the people who usually wear this brand of shoes donât need to walk or squeeze into subways. If something doesnât suit you, thereâs no need to force it,â Aurelia advised.
âWhy not? Iâm probably just not used to it. If Kimberly can walk in them, I can too. Iâll just put on some bandâaids, and Iâll be fine.â
âMillieâ¦â
âOkay, okay, I get it. Weâll be late if we donât hurry. Letâs go.â
âAlright.â
Aurelia knew that Millie wouldnât listen, so it was useless to persuade her.
When they arrived upstairs, Aurelia had just taken a seat and hadnât even had time to eat her breakfast when she saw Kimberly coming out of Zacharyâs office. Soon after, Zachary followed her out angrily and gave Aurelia a displeased glare.
âAurelia, come into my office.â
âAlright.â
As soon as Aurelia walked into Zacharyâs office, she was taken aback by his sudden accusations. âAurelia! Do you even take the company seriously? Iâve already warned you not to bring personal matters into the office!
âWith your continuous arrogance and disregard for others, how do you plan to compete for
the position of deputy director? Your behavior will become a subject of ridicule!
âLook at Kimberly. Sheâs highly educated and incredibly capable. Sheâs never done anything like what youâve done.
âI think youâre unsuitable for the position of deputy director. Itâs better if you stepped down. Alright, thatâs all. You may leave now.â
Zachary didnât even give Aurelia a chance to explain.
Kimberly must have said something to him.
âWhy are you still here? Do I need to escort you out?â Zachary said impatiently.
âIf thatâs the reason, I wonât accept it.â
âWhat did you say?â Zachary looked at Aurelia in surprise.
âItâs not my fault that my exâboyfriend came here. In fact, if he hadnât been influenced by Kimberlyâs words, he wouldnât even have appeared here. If I have to withdraw from the deputy director elections because of this, then Kimberly, who had been inciting public opinion throughout the building, should also have to withdraw.â
âYou⦠Do you have any evidence?â Zachary asked angrily.
âI do.â
Kimberly probably didnât expect Aurelia to have already taken screenshots of the
conversations in the group chat. The group had already been disbanded, so she wasnât worried.
Aurelia took her phone out and sent all the screenshots of the messages from the group chat to Zachary.
âMr. Zeller, is this evidence enough?â
Zachary fell silent.
