Chapter 85
Married in a Flash Embarking on the Journey to Wealth
Chapter 85
Aurelia suddenly realized that while chatting, she had pushed Leslie from the middle of the couch to the very edge.
She blushed and immediately got up. âSorry, itâs about time. I⦠Iâll go cook.â
Leslie also stood up. âIâll help you.â
Aurelia was surprised. âHuh?â
Leslie took off his suit jacket and rolled up his shirt sleeves. âAny problem? I have some free time. I can help speed things up.â
Aurelia glanced at his fair and slender hands, knowing he probably had little experience with household chores. Yet, he offered to help her cook, which was just as shocking as Seth apologizing while kneeling.
However, she didnât refuse. Living together meant they needed to make things work. A man who wanted to help was better than one who only gave orders.
She smiled and agreed, âSure, but wait a moment.â
âWhat for?â
Leslie stood at the kitchen doorway, looking puzzled, as he watched Aurelia tiptoe to reach a high cabinet. During the initial renovation of the apartment, he hadnât paid much attention to the kitchen. Thus he hadnât noticed the extremely impractical height of the upper cabinets.
âLet me help you.â
âThank you.â
Afterward, Aurelia wanted to make way for Leslie, but to her surprise, he stood directly behind her. His presence enveloped her like a cool, misty stream.
She blushed as she felt a tingling sensation in her ear. She quickly pressed her body against the counter, afraid of accidentally brushing against Leslie and causing any misunderstandings.
âWhat are you looking for?â Leslieâs voice sounded from above her.
Aurelia raised her head, and her hair brushed against Leslieâs chin. He seemed momentarily stunned, and the scent of her hair wafted under his nose. It was just the ordinary smell of shampoo, but he could always faintly detect a different fragrance for some reason.
Aurelia pointed inside a white plastic bag. âIn that bag, thereâs a new apron. Your shirt looks expensive, and I donât want it to get dirty.â
âYou even prepared this?â
Leslie furrowed his brows. But his expression became even more troubled when he took out the new apron.
The offer was âBuy one, get one free,â and he ended up with the free one.
Aurelia noticed his reaction and explained, âNormally, this apron costs 30 dollars. Now itâs buy one, get one free, which means itâs half price. Leaving money on the table makes you a fool.â

Her parents often took her grocery shopping, advising her on which discounted items were worthwhile. It was a phrase they often used, and she had said it without thinking.
She wondered if it was just her imagination, but she felt like her words had unintentionally aggravated the situation, and Leslieâs expression worsened.
She immediately changed the subject, saying, âIâll put this on for you.â
Upon seeing the apron, both of them were taken aback. Looking through the packaging, it appeared to be a simple blue and white checkered fabric. Little did they expect that it also had lace trim.
Holding the apron, Aurelia asked hesitantly, âMr. Synder, do you still want to wear this?â
Leslie narrowed his eyes, pointing to her apron with red checks that didnât have lace trim.â Switch with me.â
âOkay.â
They exchanged aprons. She had expected Leslie to look strange in an apron, but when she glanced at him, she couldnât help but be surprised. She lowered her gaze to her own apron.
Werenât they wearing similar styles? Why did Leslie, a man, look better in it?
He was wearing a black shirt that contrasted sharply with the red apron. His muscular arms, taut chest, and slender waistline all accentuated his restrained sensuality. The apron seemed to emphasize his pentâup desire.

Leslie leaned against the counter, raising an eyebrow. âWhat are you at?â
