Word had spread like fire.

The king, Tayyab's father remained reticent as his courtiers and vizier, who was also the king's half-brother continued to raise their opinion regarding the current circumstances. This was an immergency meeting.

Apparently, some people in the kingdom did care for their prisoner, Hayat. Ever since the massacre at the Qasba, rumours had widely spread of the tyranny of the Royal family once again.

So the courtiers were invited in the Royal court to voice their opinion and suggestions.

The Royal court was magnificent in its own way, it was one of the most lavish Durbar halls amongst the seven kingdoms and one of the grandest chambers too. It's walls were decorated with gold and rubies. It was covered with paintings of the forefathers of Tayyab, the war stories they had faught and various weapons adorn the walls as well. The hall had an exquisite ceiling,  which was covered with beautiful chandeliers. It was surrounded by viewing galleries from where the ladies of the palace could view the proceedings while remaining veiled.

On a raised platform was the throne of the king, The chair was carved of gold, crested with several jewels and decorative metals forming an elegant coat of arms. That throne was bathed in the blood of those who had fought for it and all the anger and wickedness in their hearts.

A man in his early sixties sat on it proudly, his turban bathed in jwell and his mantle was as expensive too. He had big, scruffy and greyish beard, his eyes a bit sunken due to his growing age, yet his face glazed.

In front of his throne were the seating arrangements for the courtiers, two rows of quilt with soft cushions.

The king was furious and he had demanded to talk to Tayyab at once. He had never approved of Meher for him because of the class difference between both of them, let alone Tayyab's madness to find her.

Meher was gifted by the enemy Kingdom of Noor as a gift. A peace offering! She was very pretty and Tayyab had just returned after completing his Ilm along with Umar, Ali and Yousef from Madrailm in the Kingdom of Qalb. He saw Meher and was bewitched by her beauty instantly, his father, the king was sending her back, saying he didn’t need any kaneez but Tayyab talked him into letting her stay and so his father instead gifted her to him.

Tayyab had granted her freedom in the palace, she was not treated as a kaneez by neither the Khadims nor the other kaneezs of the palace. Very soon they fell in love.

Sometimes Umar thought that the king had something to do with Meher's abduction but now with everything that happened since morning, he had no clue.

Tayyab's decisions were beyond him, he couldn't understand the point of marrying her when he was going to execute her the very next day and Tayyab had not left his room since morning so the mystery remained a mystery. Umar was sure that while Tayyab had sent everyone away from the cell, Ahmar must have told him something extremely obnoxious to infuriate him.

The king had summoned him but he didn't show up. "My king we need to do something soon or we will lose the trust of our people." One of the courtiers said while the others nodded their head in agreement.

They knew they couldn't kill all the witnesses which they usually did when Tayyab did something reckless because this time there were too many people who could validate it.

They should have done it during the dawn when not many people could have seen it.

"Your highness I feel some action must be taken, our emir has made a huge mistake. From what we are hearing, people are gathering together to demand an explanation of the assassination of the entire family. Hashmet had been one of the leaders of the Qasba." The vizier, Altamash bin Zoravar spoke gingerly. He was one shrewd and guileful man. He looked exactly like his brother, the king except his face didn't glaze, he looked more of a serpent. The king's face however revealed nothing of what went in his mind.

"Yes we agree." A few of the courtiers said in unison.

"Father, my brother has lost his sanity it seems. He has ignored all of your warnings and I feel you should teach him a lesson. That way the people will have trust in you once again." Umar was brooding the moment Aziz bin Zubair opened his repulsive mouth.

It was not a first, everyone knew how much Aziz wanted to outsmart Tayyab since childhood. He was Tayyab's half-brother and Tayyab despite his insolence, loved him.

When Tayyab was 7 years old, his mother, Saba ran away with a guard named Haris bin Khalid. To avoid the embarrassment the caliph declared her dead and mourned her. Only a few people knew the actual truth, Umar and his father had been one of them. Tayyab never talked about her. Umar often wondered if he knew she was alive.

The caliph had married Saba Zubair Ahmed because it was  a political arrangement. Tayyab's mother had belonged to a very powerful kingdom. She was the princess of Kingdom of Noor.

In the battle of Zamoor, an area on the outskirts of Kingdom of Seher, the caliph found a slave named Husna soon after his wife Saba ran away. She was very charming but she was a sahira. She cast a spell on the caliph to make him fall in love with her. She died two years ago from blight. Aziz was her son and he was incapable of love. It was sort of his curse. Aziz had a sister too, but she was different. He on the contrary was an unmarried satyr. He had around six kaneezs and when he was bored of any of them, he would discard them as garbage and demand for new girls.

"I agree with my nephew. As if killing them was not enough Tayyab decided to marry her and now he is deliberately giving obtuse orders to execute her." Altamash said with disgust. Soon after the vizier wantonly disclosed the gossip to the courtiers, murmurs began to erupt in the court, some even gasped at the newfound knowledge. Azeez had only smiled smugly.

The emir and most probably the future King of Hudaan had married a girl from the Qasba. What a shame!

Umar's hand had curled up more tightly on the hilt of his sword. He was sure that one of the guards had divulged the secrets  to Qasasa, Altamash's personal guard. Qasasa competed with Umar, it was partly the reason why Umar couldn't leave his position. If he did, Qasasa would take his place and the corruption that would follow if Qasasa became the general would destroy his kingdom.

"Enough!" The king roared. "Don't forget that he is your future king." The whispers died immediately and so did Aziz's smile. Umar on the opposite simpered and so did Yousef from the further end of the Royal court.

Umar stood firmly beside the king, waiting for his orders, a hand on the hilt of his sword at all times and beside Umar stood Ali, his best warrior, his hand too pressed on the hilt of his sword in a firm grip, watching around for any danger.

"My apologies your highness, Tayyab is my nephew as well. I didn't mean to offend you." Bowed Altamash, his grating voice made him even sound like a serpent, that is if a serpent ever spoke. The king simply dismissed him with a shake of his hand.

"What is going to happen now?" Whispered Ali. "Let's wait." Replied Umar shrugging him away.

"What about the girl? Where has she been kept?" Interrogated Abu Sulem, a courtier and one of the wealthiest person of the kingdom. He was the head of the Hud Souq. His responsibility of trade had given him an opportunity to oppress and he exploited the traders according to his own needs. As if his wealth was not enough, he wanted more power. He had a daughter whom he had always desired to get married to Tayyab.

He was one of the few people who was frustrated and disappointed the most with the new found knowledge.

"She is in the dungeon." Replied Umar.

"Is she being fed?" The king asked with authority.

"No your majesty. She refuses to eat. Our guards have forced water down her throat. We have tried our best but it seems like she wants to die before her execution." Umar responded.

"What is the point of feeding her when the future king has ordered her execution tomorrow?" The sarcasm in Aziz's words were duly noted by Umar.

"Executed or not. Our prisoners are supposed to be fed properly." The king countered.

"Perhaps you should send a qaneez for the girl. Maybe it's brute force that she is scared of. I will ask one of my kaneez to feed her." Suggested the vizier. The king only nodded in response.

"I need time to think. I haven't made my decision yet. The conversation is now over. You may leave." The caliph decreed.

A moment later, one by one the courtiers came forward to bow and kiss the hand of the king before they walked backwards, made a turn at the end of the Royal court and left.

Umar had left too. He along with Ali and Yousef walked towards Tayyab's chamber.

Usman was already there, sitting on the floor, his back pressed against the door to Tayyab's chamber. He hadn't left since Tayyab went in. As soon as he heard their footsteps nearing him, he stood up. "Did he say anything?" Ali scrutinized.

"No. Nothing. All I hear is the sound of things being smashed. It seems like he is hell bent on destroying everything he owns." Usman heaved a sigh of dejection.

"I swear if Tayyab didn't love Aziz, I would have killed him with my bare hands." Yousef   professed. "You want to kill him? I think it'd be better if we killed The vizier. He is no good to anyone, not even his wife." Ali hated Altamash with every ounce of his being. Altamash deserved it.

There were a few people in Al Qasar that Umar or Tayyab could trust, people whom they could call their friend. Ali, Yousef and Usman were their kin.

They had practically grown up together.

They had acquired Ilm together, other than Usman. Usman was always brooding, nobody knew where he came from. All they knew at first was that Tayyab had brought him to the palace and appointed him as his own personal guard.

Ali and Yousef were warriors. All of them were well built. While Usman's body was leaner, defined and proportionately packed with strength and versatility, Ali's was more of brute force with bulging muscles and Yousef had both strength and perspicacity.

"We'll have to wait for King's command. I tried to speak with him but he dismissed me too. Let's hope Tayyab talks to us soon. Till then all we can do is wait for Qadar."  Umar replied with a sense of finality.
