Chapter 16

Fake Dating... or is it real?

"Babe?" Jennie yelled from the bathroom.

Lisa had just finished getting ready for the wedding and was waiting on Jennie in her room.

"Babe? Help me please." Jennie said again. Still nothing. Jennie peeked out the bathroom door. "Idiot!"

Lisa finally looked up and Jennie giggled.

"A little help please?" Jennie said before peeking back out and going into the bathroom.

Lisa realized a little belatedly that Jennie had been calling her. She still hadn't gotten used to being Jennie's actual girlfriend, her babe. It was usually idiot or my idiot which if Lisa was honest with herself she liked too because Jennie always said it fondly.

"Sorry, I was spaced out." Lisa said as she walked into the bathroom. She froze as soon as she walked in.

"What?" Jennie's face dropped.

Lisa looked on incredulously.

"Are you sure you said yes to being my girlfriend because I'm finding that pretty impossible right now." Lisa said honestly.

Jennie pouted. "Do I not look okay? Should I change?"

Lisa shook her head, unable to believe that of all the things she could have come up with, that's the conclusion Jennie came up with for Lisa's reaction to her.

"You look so, so beautiful. Sorry I froze. I might have been in shock because how could I actually be dating you? You can't change your mind please, because I'll for sure end up alone after getting to date you." Lisa said honestly.

Jennie smiled shyly and blushed, ducking her head.

"Can you help me with the necklace?" Jennie asked Lisa, "These nails, I can't put it on."

Lisa walked to her and stood behind her, putting the necklace around Jennie's slender neck, about to clasp it as Jennie held her hair up for her. She locked eyes with Jennie in the mirror as she did it and Lisa couldn't help but caress the back of Jennie's neck with her fingers as she pulled the ends together and clasped it. Lisa smiled lightly as she watched Jennie's eyes close as she did it and Lisa saw the goosebumps rise on her skin. Lisa finally clasped it and gave a kiss to the back of Jennie's shoulder.

She felt Jennie's arms go up and behind her so she could circle them around Lisa's neck. She felt Jennie tickle the back of it with her nails just like Lisa liked. Lisa's own arms immediately went to circle Jennie's waist.

Jennie still had her eyes closed. Jennie almost said it. She almost said I love you. She said something else instead.

"I'm so happy." Jennie said contentedly.

Lisa pulled her in closer, pushing them flush together. Lisa put her lips to Jennie's shoulder again, holding them there for a while. They stayed like that for longer than they should have but they were just so content to be with each other that the world around them really didn't exist anymore.

They were finally interrupted by a soft knock on Jennie's room door and they broke apart but not before Jennie turned around in Lisa's arms to face her, kissing her softly so as not to ruin their lipstick.

"You look gorgeous Lisa. I'm so proud to be your girlfriend."

Lisa grinned. "I'm bragging to everyone at that wedding that you're mine."

Jennie blushed again. "Yours."

Lisa grinned and kissed Jennie again.

There was another knock on the door and they heard Chaeyoung's soft voice right afterwards.

"Hey guys, sorry to interrupt but Lis we gotta go. They want the bridal party there an hour early."

"Go." Jennie said again, pecking Lisa's lips again, her eyes sparkling. Jennie had never been more happy in her life.

"I'll miss you." Lisa said honestly.

"I'll be seeing you in less than an hour!" Jennie giggled.

"Still. I'll still miss you." Lisa said honestly.

They both thought about the impending year without each other after that and Lisa just had to kiss Jennie again.

They acted like love sick teenagers because Lisa didn't let go of Jennie's hand until the last second.

"I'll be there soon Lis." Jennie smiled wildly and Lisa's heart would forever skip a beat at that gummy smile.

"Hurry baby brat."

Jennie rolled her eyes good naturedly and Lisa finally left with Chaeyoung.

Jisoo and Jennie didn't have to be there until the ceremony started so they would be going together.

Jennie turned to finish her light make up.

She knew that's how Lisa liked her the best. Even when they hated each other, Lisa would always throw some backhanded compliment in the past at her when she didn't wear much make up.

"I thought it was all of daddy's make up artists doing it this whole time. I guess you do look like that after all. If I was you I wouldn't waste the money but you have so much of it so why the hell not just throw it away on unnecessary beauty products right? You can afford to waste it after all."

"I guess rich people can afford to still look good even with no make up. Is it all the beauty products you buy and those bougie spa sessions and the stress free environment you get to live in considering you don't have to worry about anything?"

"Let me guess, you're one of those girls that wear make up one day and then don't wear make up the next day in order to fish for compliments because you're naturally pretty?"

Jennie smiled to herself as she thought of all those times. How did they not know they liked each other, it was painfully obvious. Chaeyoung must have wanted to pull her own hair out this whole time.

She was knocked out of her thoughts by the doorbell.

She set her mascara down and went to go get it.

She opened the door and slammed it in his face as soon as she saw who it was. At this rate she was really going to have to move apartments.

She saw a letter being slid under the door. Then a voice.

"I told you that you would regret it. I'll give you thirty minutes to decide to reach out to me so we can talk or I'm going through with what's in that letter."

Jennie tried walking away, she tried tearing herself away because she knew it was probably going to derail her life but she forced herself to pick up the letter.

Jennie read it and her tears started welling up. She had been so happy before, incredibly happy and now she knew that probably wouldn't last long.

She used her phone to call him.

"What do you want in exchange for you not to do this?" Jennie choked out.

"Let me come in. We'll talk."

"I have a wedding to get to."

"It won't take long. Just ten minutes."

"Come back up then. I'll let you in." Jennie said coldly.

_______

Jennie had to redo her make up after that conversation.

"You're not done yet Jendeuk? We have to be there in an hour and it'll take us thirty minutes to get there."

"I'm almost done." Jennie whispered.

"Are you okay? Are you sick?"

Jennie decided to lie.

"Just nerves I guess. We're going to Lisa's ex-girlfriend of four years' wedding where Lisa is a bridesmaid, what if they run away together?"

It used to be a concern of hers. It had been her biggest concern up until an hour ago.

Jisoo snorted. "You guys are so annoying that I'm sure that even if Lisa was held at gun point and made to run away with someone else she'd rather get shot if she couldn't be with you. Don't worry Jendeuk. Limario is yours and yours alone."

Jennie wanted to cry again. She took a deep breath. She needed to rein it in. She didn't have much time left with Lisa. She had to make the most of it.

"Okay. Im ready."

____________

"Have you seen Jennie?" Lisa asked, standing on her tiptoes and looking through the guests filing in.

"No, I haven't seen Jisoo either." Chaeyoung answered. "I don't think they're here yet."

Lisa huffed, annoyed. She felt a tap on her shoulder. Lisa turned around.

"Mrs. Bae. Hi!" Lisa said hugging Suzy's mom.

"I missed you so much." Mrs. Bae said. "Rosie is that you?"

Chaeyoung turned and hugged Suzy's mom too.

"Lisa. Suzy is asking for you. Go see her before the wedding starts." Mrs. Bae asked Lisa.

Lisa looked at Chaeyoung in confusion, who apparently wasn't as confused as Lisa because judging by the knowing look she was giving Lisa it seemed like she knew this was going to happen all along.

"Hurry hurry. Before it starts." Mrs. Bae pushed Lisa.

"Okay?" Lisa said giving one last glance to her best friend who was giving Lisa her best don't do anything stupid because you're accidentally ignorant look.

_______

"I really thought we were going to be late but it doesn't look like it's started yet." Jisoo said as they walked into the venue.

They saw all the bridesmaids lined up and Jisoo went straight to Chaeyoung.

"You look beautiful." Jisoo said pecking her lips.

"You told me that an hour ago." Chayeoung said, giggling anyway.

Jennie looked around for Lisa and found no sign of her. She walked up to Chaeyoung too. "You really do look beautiful Rosie Posie."

"Thanks Jennie, you too. Wow. No wonder I couldn't get Lisa out of your room earlier. We were the last ones here because she was too preoccupied with you." Chaeyoung teased.

Jennie rolled her eyes good-naturedly.

"Rosie do you know where the restroom is, I'm literally dying because we thought we'd be late." Jennie asked.

Chaeyoung pointed down a hallway.

"I'll go find us seats Jendeukie."

"Okay! I'll be right back." Jennie said, walking down the hallway as quickly as she could.

________

Lisa went to the bride's room.

"Hey Suze." Lisa greeted.

Suzy had been looking at herself in the mirror and turned around.

Lisa grinned.

"You look beautiful Suzy. I'll bet he cries when he sees you."

Lisa's heart dropped when Suzy actually started crying and Lisa ran to hug her. "Hey, what's wrong?"

"Did we make a mistake Lisa?"

Lisa pulled away.

"What do you mean?"

"Should I have not broken up with you?"

Lisa shook her head in amusement. "Why did you break up with me?"

"Because you never payed attention to me." Suzy answered honestly.

"So you really think it was a mistake?"

"Run away with me Lisa. I can't do this."

______________

Jennie had only wanted to go to the restroom to compose herself before seeing Lisa. She needed to get it together. She walked by an open door and heard a familiar voice.

"So you really think it was a mistake?"

Lisa. That was definitely Lisa.

"Run away with me Lisa. I can't do this."

That was definitely the airhead.

Jennie peeked through the gap in the door and watched as Suzy moved in to kiss Lisa. Jennie averted her eyes, not wanting to see the rest and kept walking. She went to the bathroom.

She looked in the mirror and braced herself. This night was going to be hard. She fought the tears again. Everything was just too much.

__________

Suzy leaned in to try and kiss Lisa but Lisa turned her face and held her hands out to stop Suzy from coming forward even more, so Suzy's kiss landed on her cheek.

"Sorry." Suzy said hastily, crying even more.

"I know you didn't actually want to kiss me Suzy. You knew I would do that. What's this even about? Why are you freaking out and trying to self sabotage your own wedding?" Lisa asked.

"I—he's too perfect! What if he divorces me?!" Suzy huffed. "What if I'm not what he expected! What if I break his heart!"

Lisa laughed out loud then.

"Everyone was right after all." Lisa said matter of factly.

"What do you mean?" Suzy asked between sniffles.

"We only stayed with each other because we were safe for each other because although we loved each other we weren't in love with each other. I guess we're both afraid of commitment, not just me."

"I'm not afraid of commitment. We dated for four years!" Suzy said indignantly and Lisa laughed harder.

"Do you know how many times I said that to Jennie in the last three months." Lisa said thinking of her girlfriend. "How many times did we see each other in the four years we were together Suzy? Everyone was right. We were really good in the beginning, perfect even, and then we drifted apart and we hardly saw each other and I think you and I both know we never broke up because we were too afraid to try again. You were the brave one for breaking up with me. I imagine it was him wasn't it? You met him?" Lisa asked knowingly.

Suzy looked down sheepishly. "I never cheated on you. I broke up with you as soon as I realized I had feelings for him."

"I know. It's okay. You did us both a favor. I would have never opened myself up to loving Jennie if you had never broken up with me."

"Love?" Suzy said teasingly.

Lisa blushed. Lisa thought about it, about how easy it had come out and realized it was true.

"Yeah. Love." Lisa said with conviction. "I love her."

"I'm sorry for trying to kiss you. I justified it because you were supposed to be in a fake relationship with her and I figured it wouldn't be cheating for you but I knew deep down you guys couldn't just be in a fake relationship after I saw you guys at my engagement party. The way you were with each other was too real to play pretend, and the way you know each other is so deep."

Lisa's eyes widened.

"How did you know about that?" Lisa asked in shock.

"When you guys broke up she ripped a piece of paper and threw it in your face and you just left without another word and you know I hate littering. I know you guys were too upset to function so I'm not being an asshole about you guys leaving it or anything. I picked it up to throw it away for you guys and as I picked up the pieces, even though I didn't really mean to read it its kind of hard when its right in front of your face. You're not the bribing type so I kind of just pieced it together. I'm sorry."

Lisa shook her head. "Don't be, you're the only reason we're even together. It's funny. I thought I would feel humiliated if you ever found out I lied about having a girlfriend in the first place just to save face but all I really want right now is to go to Jennie and I love you but I really wouldn't care if you thought I was pathetic for making it up anymore because I have her now. So let's get you married already so we can both go to our loves?"

"What if—"

"Suzy. I know we didn't work out but that's just because we weren't compatible. You're so sweet and kind and that guy is smitten over you. He looks at you like I look at Jennie, like you're the only thing in the world. Now stop worrying and go get your man."

"Thanks Lisa." Suzy gave Lisa another hug.

"Come on." Lisa dragged Suzy out and they met Mrs. Bae out in the hallway a few paces later.

"You talked her down?" Mrs. Bae asked Lisa. "I'm sorry honey. I just want my daughter to be happy. She was confused and I wanted her to be sure if it was you or him truly meant for her."

Lisa only smiled and hugged her. "You were only being a mother."

"Don't be a stranger Lisa. You're still family." Mrs. Bae said.

Lisa went to take her place.

__________

Jisoo kept looking around for Jennie, starting to get a little worried because the music started and everyone was walking in. They started the ceremony and Jennie still wasn't back. She hoped Jennie wasn't freaking out and worrying about Lisa and Suzy. She should have just gone with her. Jennie was too much of an irrational worrier.

_______

Lisa scanned the crowd once she was at the altar and found Jisoo but Jennie wasn't with her and Lisa panicked, wondering if Jennie got hurt but apparently Jisoo read her mind and shook her head and sent Lisa a waiting motion with her hand and Lisa relaxed. She's around here somewhere. Lisa kept scanning the crowd hoping she'd spot her.

_______

"Okay Jennie. You can do this. Just one more day. That's all you have so get it together." Jennie told herself.

Jennie was glad she had brought her make up with her in her purse because for the third time that day, she had to fix it because she had cried.

She walked back into the hall where the ceremony was being held, scanning the seats for where Jisoo was sitting and finally spotted her. She tried to be as discreet as possible at being late but of course she attracted attention, namely, of her girlfriend who had immediately spotted her and grinned.

Jennie sent Lisa a soft smile too. Jennie hated the way Lisa's smile fell a little bit when Jennie smiled back.

Jennie cursed herself. Lisa had already figured out something was wrong. Jennie felt Lisa's eyes on her the whole ceremony and Jennie tried to focus on the bride and groom or Jisoo's commentary but she couldn't. All she could concentrate on where Lisa's eyes on her.

Eventually the couple said I do and they ran down the aisle to a shower of rose petals raining down on them.

They drove their way to the reception area.

Rosie and Lisa still had to take pictures so they wouldn't make it until later.

"You okay Jendeukie?" Jisoo asked as she drove.

"Yeah I'm good." Jennie said a little too sadly, looking out the window.

"She's married, she won't steal your Limario away, you know that right?" Jisoo tried to reassure her baby cousin.

"Mhmm."

"Besides Lisa is whipped over you, don't ever tell her I told you this but she's as whipped as I am with Rosie and that's saying a lot."

"I know." Jennie answered sadly.

"Then why do you look like you're about to cry?"

"Because of Lisa." Jennie said honestly, still looking out the window.

"Why?"

"We don't have any time left." Jennie said simply.

Jisoo sighed and reached out to grab Jennie's hand, holding it, tracing circles on the back of her hand.

________

Lisa was finally able to get to Jennie after an endless hour of pictures later and then a round of toasts to the bride and groom. Lisa snuck up behind her and hugged her from behind and she felt Jennie freeze first before melting once Lisa spoke.

"It's just me baby brat." Lisa said as she hugged her and twisted them back and forth.

Jennie turned in her arms and turned to look at Lisa with the saddest eyes Lisa had ever seen.

"What's wrong Jennie?" Lisa asked immediately.

"I know you're a bridesmaid but is there any way you can skip the rest of this thing?" Jennie asked. "Since the important part is over?"

Lisa didn't hesitate. Jennie looked too upset. "Let me go get the keys from Chaengie. Stay here." Lisa finished, kissing Jennie's temple again

Jennie wanted to cry again but she held it together.

Lisa tried to drive to the apartment but Jennie begged her to take them to the dorms.

"Please, I just want to be alone with you tonight." Jennie pleaded Lisa.

As soon as they made it in the door Jennie jumped Lisa, kissing her deeply and though Lisa was a little shocked she reciprocated.

Jennie was desperate, she took her own dress off. Lisa didn't know what was going on all of a sudden but she helped Jennie take all of her clothes off and Jennie helped her with her own. Lisa picked her up and Jennie wrapped her legs around Lisa's waist. Lisa pressed Jennie against the wall to help support her and began kissing her neck and Jennie was still trying to hold the tears back. She grabbed Lisa's face to make her kiss her again as Jennie sought friction from Lisa's abdomen, rocking into her despite being held up.

Lisa pressed Jennie harder into the wall as Jennie desperately writhed into her. Lisa pulled back to ask her what was wrong because Jennie seemed desperate, too desperate, in a concerning way. She wasn't acting like herself when they were intimate but Jennie pulled her back in.

Jennie finally pulled back for breath and Lisa immediately latched onto Jennie's neck again.

A lone tear fell from Jennie but she turned her head into the wall to give Lisa more access to her neck so she wouldn't see it.

Lisa held her up as she used a free hand to enter her and Jennie gasped.

"Lisa. Please. Make love to me."

Lisa's heart skipped a beat as she started pumping into Jennie. She kissed every inch of skin and eventually Jennie came, her body shuddering.

Jennie burrowed her face into Lisa's neck and whimpered.

"Lay me down Lisa."

Lisa took her to the bed, laying Jennie down and settling on top of her when Jennie opened her legs for her.

"Again baby. Come with me this time." Jennie asked desperately.

Lisa began grinding into her. Using the hand that wasn't supporting her up to brush Jennie's sweaty hair back from her face or to stroke her jawline tenderly or run a thumb over her bottom lip. Lisa watched her intently.  Kissing her deeply where she could. Jennie never looked at her. She closed her eyes and moaned and twisted and writhed but wouldn't look at Lisa directly.

"Lisa please. I'm about to come. Please, come with me."

Lisa thrusted harder into her and Jennie gasped as she climaxed, Lisa watched her intently and followed behind a second later.

"I am love. I'm coming with you." Lisa moaned too.

They rode it out and Lisa kissed her as they did. She felt Jennie's tears on her cheeks a few seconds later and Lisa pulled back.

"Jennie? Baby brat what's wrong?"

Jennie choked out a sob and Lisa desperately wiped the tears away.

"Jennie. Please tell me? Did I hurt you?"

Jennie shook her head no frantically and cried harder.

"Baby please? Please tell me what's wrong?"

"I'm—I." Jennie sobbed again. "I'm breaking up with you."

Lisa's blood ran cold. "What? I heard that wrong right?"

Jennie shook her head and kept crying.

"We have to break up."

"But why? We just got together. We were going on a date tomorrow. What happened?"

Jennie braced herself. It was time for the first lie. The first blow to get Lisa to accept it.

"You cheated on me." Jennie said, crying harder because she knew Lisa didn't. Even though Jennie had walked away before seeing the end. Even though she didn't see it she knew Lisa wouldn't have let Suzy kiss her. She knew Lisa must have thought Jennie really believed it by how hard she was crying though. Good. Jennie thought. She needed to believe that Jennie would actually believe she was a cheater so she would stay away.

"What? No baby, I would never, you know that." Lisa tried to reach to stroke Jennie's face but Jennie slapped it away and Jennie saw the hurt in Lisa's eyes.

"I saw you with Suzy." Jennie said, hardening her look as hard as possible and she watched Lisa falter. It was just the ammo she needed. "I knew it. I knew I shouldn't have trusted you and that you couldn't commit." Jennie shoved Lisa off. Crying the entire time and started putting her clothes on.

"Jennie, I don't know what you saw. I guess it might have looked bad and I guess she did sort of try to kiss me but she was having cold feet and anyway that's not the point. The point is I love you. I would never cheat on you."

Jennie almost fell to the ground in pain at hearing that. She had longed to hear that. She had almost said it herself this morning. She regretted not saying it now because now she couldn't, now she couldn't tell Lisa she had fallen hard for her.

Jennie finished getting dressed and she turned around after gasping for as much air as possible before turning around because she felt like she couldn't breathe. She tried to force a neutral expression on her face.

"I would have probably loved you eventually Lisa." I love you so much already Lisa. "but you cheated and you're leaving in two days anyway so what's the point." I spent the greatest days of my life, fake or not, with you. " I'm sorry for leaving like this. Maybe I'm the one who couldn't do commitment after all. Sorry I led you on but I don't think I can do long distance after this. After the Suzy thing. Even if what you're saying is true, I don't trust you anymore. You chose to be alone with her." I trust you with my life. You would never cheat. I know you would never cheat. "Good luck and stay safe. I know you'll win that IPA and you'll help a bunch of kids. I know it, so don't look back and chase after your dream." Please. Please live your life and chase your dream and win like I know you will so this is all worth it.

"Jennie? I didn't cheat. I swear. We can talk to her? Or, I don't know. Just tell me how I can make it up to you. Tell me how to fix it. I'll stay! I won't go. Don't do this." Lisa said brokenly and all Jennie wanted to do was run and kiss her and tell her she loved her too.

"It's too late Lisa. I'm sorry. Please. If you meant what you said, and you do lo—love me. Please don't come to the apartment. I can't see you. It'll only break my heart. And don't you dare stay behind because I'll never forgive you. Go chase your dream idiot."

Jennie turned to leave the dorm and Lisa jumped up and hugged Jennie from behind. "Please Jennie. Please believe me? You said that you knew I would never drop you."

Jennie sobbed again. "But you did." Jennie unwrapped Lisa's arms from her and opened the door, trying her hardest not to look back because if she did she would run back into Lisa's arms and ruin her life.

She ran down the dorm room sobbing.

Jennie didn't know how far she ran before she ended up under a tree on campus, crying her eyes out because she just had to break up with the girl she loved because of her stupid father. She should have known she was no match. She thought she had made it out.

"I'm sorry Lisa. I'm sorry." Jennie chanted.

__________

"What do you want in exchange President Kim." Jennie asked as the man she hated entered the apartment.

"You must really care about her."

"I asked you what you want."

"Break up with her by tonight because I'll need you at an event tomorrow. Kai will be your escort, as it should be."

Jennie clenched her jaw and nodded.

"If that's it, can you please leave now."

"Oh no dear daughter. I will also be cohosting your next charity event or I'll still pull her fellowship." President Kim threatened. "From now on things will go back to normal. You'll attend events with Kai and I'll let you continue your studies and play with your little charity as long as you add me as cohost. I'll even hand you your inheritance back. You do all those things and Lisa can travel the world and take her pictures to her heart's content."

"I don't want your dirty money." Jennie said with a bite. "Is that all? If I do those things you'll leave Lisa alone?"

"As long as you stay on your best behavior."

Jennie could only manage a nod.

President Kim pulled out his black card, "For tomorrow."

"I'm fine. Please leave now. If I only have so much time with my girlfriend I expect you to give me the courtesy to spend it with her instead of spending it with a manipulative bastard like you, sir." Jennie tacked on.

President Kim chuckled. "I suppose I did underestimate you Jennie, this might have been a good thing, you going astray. Now I know your talents and we'll get everything back on track. We can be a team."

"You know the way out." Jennie said, losing her patience and going to her room, shutting the door behind her and immediately letting the tears fall. She slid down the door crying as silently as she could because Jisoo was still in the apartment.

She brought her knees in and hugged them as she cried. She was about to lose the two things she loved the most in one fell swoop. Lisa, and the charity she had worked for years because her father would taint it with his reputation. She couldn't do that to Lisa though. Lisa deserved that fellowship.

Jennie barely composed herself enough to get ready on time.
