Fake Dating... or is it real?
Lisa watched on amused, whooping and chanting along with the rest of the crowd, cheering Jessi on as she did a keg stand with the help of Mrs. Kim, Bambam and his best friend Jackson, who had come along for the party too when Lisa told Bam he was welcome to bring anyone.
She was back hugging Jennie as she cheered and kept having to apologize for screaming in her ear.
"It's okay Lili." Jennie giggled when she apologized for the third time after she spent a minute cheering for Jisoo's mom when she took her own turn.
Kai nervously approached them once Mrs. Kim had beat even Jessi's keg stand record. Which was really impressive because Jessi had gone for a whole minute.
Lisa knew he was still jumpy around Jennie, not wanting to breach her space but he was being a little more anxious than usual around her so Lisa raised an eyebrow at him in question.
"What's wrong with you?" Lisa asked him.
"Umâjust wanted to ask you something, if that's cool." Kai said, shifting nervously.
"What's up?"
"Can I steal her for a second Jennie?" Kai asked her, even more nervously.
Jennie rolled her eyes at him. "I guess, but bring her back to me within five minutes or I'll do to you what Jisoo did to that one boy that claimed I slept with him in high school. You know the one, I'm sure you remember."
Kai blanched, Jisoo had really messed that kid up for lying about that, and not just physically either, she got him expelled too and he was almost disowned from his own family.
He was a shit kid so Kai didn't feel bad for him, but Kai really didn't need Jennie targeting him like that because he knew Jennie was just as capable as Jisoo to ruin his life. His best friend was so whipped for Jennie that if Jennie asked they probably wouldn't be friends anymore and he'd get fired from Lisa's studio if Jennie so asked Lisa to do it and he really didn't need that. He needed to stay on his best friend's woman's good side at all costs.
"I promise. I'll bring her right back, just need her for a bit, but can I have at least fifteen minutes with her? It might take us a little longer than five minutes to do this. Please?"
Jennie didn't deign to answer him, but rather turned in Lisa's arms, wrapped her own arms around Lisa's neck and kissed her slowly.
"I'm not even single anymore and I still feel so single around you two when my boyfriend isn't around." Kai muttered under his breath as he averted his eyes and waited patiently for them to break apart, which if you asked him was way longer than necessary because it's not like he was taking Lisa away forever, he just needed her help for a bit.
Jennie pouted cutely at Lisa once she pulled away after a solid two minutes of kissing her. "Hurry back Lili."
Lisa gave her another peck because how could she not when her girlfriend was pouting all adorable like that and looking like the cutest person in the world, in Lisa's humble opinion.
"Don't go anywhere baby brat. I'll just handle whatever the boujee pretty boy is freaking out about and come right back to you love."
"You better, my idiot, or I'm not sleeping in your room tonight." Jennie threatened her cutely as she glared and pointed her finger at her while she shot her that gorgeous gummy smile, so Lisa just had to kiss her again.
Lisa finally followed Kai to the kitchen, which was mostly unoccupied except for the people refilling their drinks because that's where all the liquor was. Kai bounced on the balls of his feet nervously.
"Dude, you're freaking me out, what is it?" Lisa asked him, feeling anxious because of his nervousness.
"Umm." Kai said, looking even more nervous as he looked at the ground and paused again.
"Just spit it out pretty boy!" Lisa said, shoving his shoulder playfully.
"Well, I was kinda hoping you'd help introduce my boyfriend to my mom." Kai finally answered sheepishly after a few seconds.
"Why do you need me?" Lisa asked perplexed.
"You're my best friend!" Kai said immediately, a little indignantly.
"So what!"
"So my mother loves you! If you approve of him she will too! Obviously." Kai said as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. "She's the most important person in the world to me and if she doesn't like him I'll have to break up with him and I really, really don't want to break up with him. I think I might even be in love with him already even though we've only been together for like a month."
"Bro, your mom hardly even knows me! I'm literally planning to marry the girl they planned to marry you off to! What do you mean?! How could I even help? This is a bad idea. You should do it yourself, she'll probably disapprove of him if I say I approve of him! I know you're not straight but really, do you never think straight?" Lisa finished, scolding him.
"You're proposing to Jennie?!" Kai answered way too loudly, smirking. "Oh my god, can I be your best man?! Please! Pretty please!" Kai gushed, ignoring the rest of Lisa's comments. The only thing he had retained was that Lisa wanted to marry Jennie as soon as Lisa had said it so he completely ignored the rest of it.
"Shut up!" Lisa said in a panic, looking around, hoping no one heard.
"My best friend's getting marriiiiiied." Kai singsonged and Lisa slapped her hand across his mouth to shut him up.
"Where's your boyfriend?" Lisa asked, deflecting, because she didn't need anyone to find out she had been saving up for a ring that she knew Jennie would absolutely love from Chanel and had written a proposal every single day to Jennie ever since Jisoo proposed to Chaeyoung, trying to get it to be perfect.
It was technically too soon to do it, but she just knew Jennie was it for her. She couldn't imagine anyone else being her wife so she was preparing herself for the right moment, for when she felt Jennie might feel like Lisa was it for her too and was practicing what she would say when she asked Jennie to marry her already. Honestly, she would do it tomorrow if she thought Jennie would say yes.
"Hiding from Jisoo." Kai mumbled behind Lisa's palm over his mouth. "I told him to."
Lisa looked at him in confusion, pulling her hand back.
"Why would your boyfriend be hiding from Jisoo?" Lisa asked because while Jisoo was only second to Jennie about forgiving Kai, she was still civil with him because Chaeyoung had asked and Jisoo was obviously very whipped for her fiancee so while she always messed with him playfully when Chaeyoung wasn't looking, trying to make him freak out as payback for making Jennie miserable all those years, she was never outright hateful.
Jisoo had accepted him in their circle in her own way too so Lisa didn't get why Kai would be hiding her boyfriend from her.
Lisa's curiosity was peaked so much that she forgot to freak out about the fact she had just let slip to him that she wanted to marry Jennie and was already planning on proposing at some point. Not even Chaeyoung knew that, at least not from Lisa directly.
Chaeyoung knew Lisa too well and was pretty much a damn mind reader so Lisa had no doubt that she probably already did know that Lisa had made the decision to do it but she probably hadn't pressed her because she knew Lisa would tell her when she eventually asked her opinion on how Lisa was planning on proposing.
Chaeyoung only pressed her when she thought Lisa needed a nudge in the right direction, otherwise she let her take her time, hence the fact she hadn't admitted she knew about the whole fake dating Jennie ordeal until Lisa confessed in the first place. Lisa knew she probably already had her best friend's blessing despite not talking about it yet.
Lisa raised her eyebrows at Kai curiously as he shifted and pouted before answering.
"My boyfriend met Jisoo first and he's Aussie too so she thinks I'm only into him because he's pretty much the male version of Rosie apparently, according to her, because as soon as he walked in he went straight to the food and then cried because it was really good and now Jisoo thinks I'm into Rosie and that I'm only dating him to replace her and that I'm just trying to steal her away.
I'm pretty sure Felix and Rosie went upstairs together though because he wanted to see Joohwangie because he really likes fish too. That's how I asked him out actually, I took him on a date to the aquarium and asked him to be my boyfriend and he said yes.
I really have to thank Jimin and Tae for introducing us because Felix is kind of perfect. He's super sweet, too sweet, and smart and bestie, if you could see his abs, even you'd go straight." Kai finished seriously.
"That was a lot to unpack." Lisa deadpanned.
Kai shrugged.
"I'm supposed to be your best friend, how come I didn't know any of this before now?" Lisa asked a little indignantly.
Kai grinned that boyish grin again. "I am your best friend then?"
Lisa rolled her eyes at him. "No, Rosie's mine, but I'm yours." Lisa said honestly, finally accepting the role he always assigned her.
It had taken her a bit, but she realized she wanted to live up to that role because Kai really looked up to her, he was a new man anyway and they had all taken a liking to him. Even Jisoo and Jennie, though they would never admit it. Their sign of approval was letting him tag along with all of them to things when their circle of friends got together, which was ironic because they had been friends with him first, until he screwed it up.
Instead of being discouraged by Lisa's answer, Kai grinned harder and hugged her, throwing a hand over Lisa's shoulder and cheering. "Upgraded!"
Lisa fought the smile at his excitement, she rolled her eyes at herself before responding.
"Come on, let's go find your boyfriend and introduce him to your mother."
"Our mother." Kai corrected her.
Lisa repressed a sigh, shaking her head at him in amusement and followed him anyway, letting him keep his arm over her shoulders for once.
_________
Lisa had never really officially met Kai's mom but Kai talked about Lisa to her all of the time and she was so grateful to her for saving Kai from pretty much drinking himself to death that she obviously immediately loved her.
She had pulled her into a hug as soon as Kai took Lisa to her. His mother had just gotten to the party. She had been a little reluctant to come because the only parties she had ever gone to were the ones her soon to be ex husband took her to. She wasn't allowed friends that weren't her husband's coworker's wives or the wives of the men he was doing business with.
She didn't really talk much to people unless it was for her husband's benefit, as she had always been taught but she really wanted to try for her son, who had always doted on her. He had been too excited about helping her come out of her shell and trying to get her to make friends for once so she came.
She also wanted to meet her son's friends. She had never gotten the chance to. Her husband had never really allowed it. She was to be the perfect housewife always and that meant taking care of the home and making sure the men were taken care of too. Why would the housewife need to leave the home unless it was to help her husband, he would always say.
Despite being shy, she was a little too grateful to Lisa for giving Kai a job and a purpose, because her son had even applied to go back to school and study photography now too after being her assistant and now he even managed her studio.
Lisa had given him that opportunity when she saw he was actually good at it because he was charming and he wasn't as dumb as he thought he was with numbers and details after all and now that Lisa was getting more work taking photos and was going to finish her dance degree too she needed the extra hands so she trusted him to do it.
She had never seen him so excited about anything until then, he always gushed to her on the phone about cameras and anytime Lisa actually complimented his photos. Which was apparently a big deal because Lisa was a big deal in the photography world now.
Lisa's eyes widened a bit when she got the hug, not expecting it.
"It's nice to officially meet you Mrs. Kim." Lisa said, returning the abrupt hug.
Kai would call his mom during every lunch break at her studio so Lisa had greeted her through the phone a few times but this was the first time they had met in person.
"Now I know where you got your looks from, pretty boy." Lisa teased him, though she did mean it because his mother was very beautiful and she didn't look a day over thirty.
"I know right. I'm so glad I got her genes and not my father's." Kai said smirking, very much meaning it too because his dad looked like a prune already. His mom wasn't superficial by any means, but he knew the only reason she had married his father was because he came from a rich family and her parents had arranged it and she had always been an obedient daughter.
In his opinion, his mom was way out of his league. She could have pulled anyone if she had been allowed the choice because she was very beautiful and very sweet.
They talked for a while, Kai trying to break the ice because he knew his mom was shy and he was grateful to his best friend because Lisa kept joking around with her and Mrs. Kim finally relaxed a bit enough to say what she had wanted to say to her ever since Kai talked about Lisa to her.
"Thank you for straightening him out." Mrs. Kim said in earnest. "He's never seen his own potential, my son, he's always felt like he wasn't enough or that he wasn't smart because of his father and he finally realized he could be more when you gave him a chance."
"If I hadn't he would have still been successful eventually. I'm sure. If he thought he wasn't smart he could have just been a model and not talked and sat there and looked pretty thanks to your impeccable genes." Lisa joked to them, ruffling his hair as he grinned. "So there's no need to thank me Mrs. Kim. Besides, he's not all that straight is he? He's got a boyfriend after all so maybe I had the opposite effect on him so you should probably be scolding me right now instead for rubbing off on him and making him not straight with my presence."
They all laughed at that comment and Kai looked at her gratefully for giving him an in to bring his boyfriend up and finally try to introduce him to his mom. He chose his best friend well and despite always whining about it he really didn't care that he wasn't Lisa's best friend too, he knew he could never replace Rosie or Jisoo, he was just glad she accepted him as one of her closest friends now.
"Speaking of me not being straight, Felix is here too mommy. Is it okay if I leave for a bit so I can go find him so you can meet him too? Are you okay here?" Kai asked her.
"I'll be fine K.K." Mrs Kim said to her son fondly, using her usual nickname for him.
"Help yourself to a drink Mrs. Kim." Lisa said, leading her to the kitchen. "We'll be right back."
Lisa turned to Kai once they left Mrs Kim. "K.K? For Kai Kim?" Lisa asked curiously.
"Nah. My Korean name is Kim Jongin remember? I only go by Kai exclusively now cus it's the name that my uncle helped me pick out when I went to live with him in America and I thought it would be a way to honor him after he died."
"Yeah I remember, so what's the K.K for then?" Lisa asked as they walked up the stairs to the master bedroom to try and find Felix.
"King Kai." He said proudly. "She used to call me little king when I was young. Then she switched to King Kai and shortened it to K.K after my uncle died because she knew I missed him. She didn't know the full story of why he really got arrested and killed himself until recently because I was scared to come out to her but she had always been fond of my uncle.
She knew he was gay. She was the only one in the family who knew about it apparently. They were friends. I didn't know the reason I was sent to America to live with him and not some private academy when my dad decided I needed to learn English was because my mom convinced my dad it would be better I live with family.
She just wanted me to get to know him so she lied to my dad about how if I lived with my uncle they could get daily reports on me and that my uncle would tell on me if I acted out.
I should have known she wouldn't judge me, but I guess I was just scared since she's my favorite person and I didn't want to lose her for something like that. But yeah, I've always been her little king." Kai said, grinning hard.
"Cute. I love your mom." Lisa said honestly.
"Our mom." Kai corrected her again.
Lisa didn't even protest, because she wouldn't mind a mom like that. She was sweet. Kai's mom reminded her of her own mom, and her adoptive mother, who were both very kind and didn't even bat an eyelash about their sexuality.
Lisa's mom had just shrugged and said "I know" when Lisa came out to her, rolling her eyes at her and telling her that of course Lisa was a lesbian, considering little Lisa always flirted with all of the cute female teachers in her school when she was still in Thailand, ever since she was six years old and warning her that if she ever wanted a girlfriend she better do good in school.
Then she reminded Lisa of how she had literally gotten her first girlfriend in kindergarten, she had come home and proudly and unabashedly announced that she had a girlfriend to her mother.
They apparently broke up a week later because Lisa's girlfriend was allergic to cats, and little Lisa decided it was a deal breaker. She couldn't possibly have a girlfriend that didn't want cats.
Lisa had totally forgotten about that and they spent the entire evening giggling and laughing as Chitthip pointed out all the ways Lisa had always been a flirt with girls only and that she had never had a single doubt that Lisa would always just exclusively be into girls.
Her adoptive mother had laughed so hard when Chaeyoung and Lisa both came out to them eventually too right before they graduated and Lisa and Chaeyoung had looked on confused.
"You don't think I knew about Vanessa?" She asked Chaeyoung incredulously.
"And you've been with Suzy for how long?" She said, looking at Lisa next. Lisa hadn't told her yet despite her mom knowing already in case they decided not to take her in when she moved to Korea.
Especially once they adopted her. Besides, Chaeyoung hadn't told her parents yet either so they did it together once Chaeyoung figured it might be safe enough considering they were both going to college and moving out soon anyway.
"You're both so ridiculous. You're not subtle at all." She said cackling and yelling for Mr. Park. "Babe! They really thought we didn't know they were gay! They're the biggest fruitcakes ever and they really thought they were hiding it well!"
"Lisa literally got Rosie's car egged because of all of her girls!" Mr. Park shouted back, running into the room as he started laughing with Mrs. Park, holding her as they both fell to the ground, wheezing. Mr. Park finally caught his breath enough to add, "Don't even get me started on what happened with Vanessa! We're lawyers, why did you think we wouldn't know about that whole situation?"
"Seriously Rosie Posie, though I am kind of proud of your devious side." Mrs. Park managed out as they kept laughing.
Chaeyoung and Lisa had looked on bewildered as the Parks kept falling into a fit of giggles and started making fun of them and pointing out all the times they had caught them being fruity but neither Lisa nor Chaeyoung had noticed because they'd been too preoccupied fawning over whatever girl they were into at the time.
"Our daughters are going to be whipped forever for any girl I think." Mrs. Park said when the laughter finally died down. "I hope you both graduate college before you find serious girlfriends because you're both hopeless and at this rate I feel like you'll get nothing done in life if you find the girl you want to marry."
"I've been begging the universe they find someone that motivates them rather than distracts them." Mr. Park said, seriously, because he definitely agreed with his wife over them being whipped over any girl they found attractive.
"Manifest it with me." Mrs. Park said solemnly, trying to keep a straight face, and Chaeyoung and Lisa both laughed as they both took meditative positions on the floor as Mrs. Park chanted. "May our girls that are into girls find good girls and not bad girls."
Mr. Park repeated the mantra and they both fell into a fit of giggles again, smacking each other as they laughed.
"Why did we even worry that they would care we liked girls and not boys?" Lisa asked Chaeyoung as she watched her adoptive parents in amusement.
"I really don't know." Chaeyoung said as she giggled and left their parents to their antics, pulling Lisa up. "Come on, they'll tease us all night if we stay here."
"You're so right." Lisa said seriously. They both snuck out of the living room while the Parks kept laughing at their expense for really believing they really didn't know about them liking girls.
__________
Lisa and Kai found Rosie and Felix in the master bedroom gushing over Joohwangie, just like Kai had predicted.
"âJoohwangie stayed with my parents when I moved here. They took care of him but I missed him so much. I cried for weeks over him so Jisoo literally hired someone to fetch him from my parents and get on a plane with him to bring him to me. He's been with us for a while now." Chaeyoung continued telling Felix as they watched her little fish swim around its massive tank that Jisoo had eventually bought for him so he could have space.
Chaeyoung had always voiced her concerns to her, worried that having a pet fish might be unfair because it meant them being in a small bowl or tank instead of the open ocean. She felt like it might be suffocating for the small fish she loved so much so Jisoo bought a wall to wall tank for the little fish just to stop Chaeyoung's worries. The tank could have probably held thousands of fish it was so huge.
Ever since they had gotten engaged Chaeyoung thought maybe Joohwangie might be lonely too so they were already planning on getting him some friends to swim with him in his massive tank.
"He's so cute." Felix said as he watched the fish swim around merrily. "And your fiancée is really sweet for doing that for you, wow. She seemed really scary when I met her, Kai told me to hide from her after we met for some reason but now I don't get why considering she did all of this for you."
"Isn't he? I love him so much." Chaeyoung gushed over her fish, then grinning wider because she was really going to finally get to marry her girlfriend and the fact Jisoo was her fiancée now made her giddy. "Jisoo can be very scary when you get on her bad side, but don't worry. She's harmless as long as I like you.
We're friends now so you have nothing to worry about. She's really protective of the people she loves and she loves me the most so you'll be fine. You can tell Kai not to worry about you. She's already accepted him despite their fight because I asked her to.
She does too much for me, and she never listens when I tell her not to spend her money on me. She literally spent almost two thousand dollars getting Joohwangie here just because she caught me crying over him.
Then she spent I don't know how much on this huge tank without telling me she was even getting it for me just because I was worried he was too cramped, even though I didn't even ask her to. She's way too sweet to me.
Granted, she's wealthy. Even more so now that she's started investing in real estate because she's so clever. That much money isn't much for her, but I know her. She'd do all that stuff for me anyway even if she was broke. I know she'd spend her last dollar on me." Chaeyoung said fondly, knowing it was true, especially because it wasn't just money Jisoo used on her.
She was always attentive to Chaeyoung, ever since they first met and Jisoo always went all out with her no matter what. Jisoo always strived to make her happy. Which she found baffling because all she needed was Jisoo in order to be happy, nothing more. Jisoo's personality was perfect for her.
She never had a dull moment with her fiancée. She probably got her abs just from how much Jisoo made her laugh all of the time. They could be broke, never go on dates, and starving, and Chaeyoung would still be happy as long as she had Jisoo by her side.
Lisa almost facepalmed as she caught their conversation. She didn't know what she found more amusing, the fact that Jisoo spent almost a couple grand getting Chaeyoung a damn fish to her or the fact Chaeyoung was so infatuated with it that she cried so much because she missed him.
Lisa wasn't complaining though. She was very glad that Jisoo was so whipped for her best friend that she brought him for her because Lisa had gotten tired of Chaeyoung crying every other night because she missed him.
And that was only because she hated when her best friend was sad, she spent most of her spending money buying Chaeyoung her favorite food that whole year she was apart from him so she could try to pacify her. Food was the only thing that ever distracted Chaeyoung.
"That fish better be fucking immortal and never die." Lisa muttered to herself as she walked in to get their attention, knowing that she and Jisoo would end up spending their entire bank accounts on food for Chaeyoung and Jennie would probably cook for her every single day just to distract her from her sadness if Joohwangie ever died.
Kai went straight to Felix, who beamed at him immediately.
"Hey babe, this is my best friend Lisa." Kai said after he pecked his lips. "I'm sorry I took so long and left you by yourself. I had to find her and humbly borrow her from her girlfriend and make sure my mommy was settled. Thank you so much for entertaining him Rosie."
Chaeyoung beamed at him before answering. "I'm pretty sure he entertained me, not the other way around. I think he might be my long lost twin."
Felix grinned at her, agreeing wholeheartedly. They'd run into each other at the food table and struck up a conversation and realized their similarities were really uncanny.
They had both squealed when they realized they actually knew each other, they just hadn't met yet, after Rosie asked him who he came to the party with because she knew mostly everyone here but she hadn't known him and Felix told her he was Kai's boyfriend and Rosie told him she was Jisoo's fiancée.
Lisa still found it baffling Kai was gay as she watched him kiss Felix. It was only her second time witnessing him kiss another man but it was still very odd to her that the man she used to call the campus loser and Jennie called the campus whore was gay.
Well, mostly gay. Lisa had unwillingly had to suffer through a conversation over his sexuality over drinks after the kevlar thing.
She kind of owed it to him to listen considering he really did keep his promise and went out with her, letting her shoot him several times as penance for kissing Jennie without either of their permission that one time and then taunting Lisa by calling her his ex-girlfriend. Lisa might have gone a little overboard in her jealousy because he had heavy bruises for weeks.
After six soju bombs, two makgeolli's, and a couple of whiskey drinks in after Lisa shot him and they went out for drinks like Lisa had promised him as well if he let her shoot him, he ranted on the fact he found women attractive too and could definitely get it up for them and enjoy the moment when they had sex, but that he only liked relationships with men and could never see himself seriously dating a woman so he didn't know what he should call himself so he asked Lisa for advice on labels.
Lisa just told him he didn't have to label himself and that if anyone asked that he should just say he liked who he liked, simple as that and if anyone had a problem with it she told him to tell them to fuck off.
Kai took that advice to heart.
"Its so nice to meet you. I've heard so much about you from Kai. You're like his hero." Felix said to Lisa.
Kai blushed a bit and Lisa decided to put him out of his misery and throw him a bone for once.
"Not his hero, just his bestie." Lisa said.
Lisa knew she would regret saying that later on just from the giddy look Kai sported once she said that. She already knew she wouldn't hear the end of it.
Lisa had to admit that Felix did have an uncanny similarity to Rosie, no wonder Jisoo was jealous. Fish obsessions, food obsessions, accents and all. Even the way they looked was similar, not because they looked alike, besides the blonde hair, but because they both looked like they wouldn't hurt a fly. Lisa was willing to bet that anyone that took one glance at them would agree they looked like innocent little angels.
Lisa took one look at Felix and knew he'd probably cry over a dead spider just like Chaeyoung had that one time she found a dead spider in the locker room and there were baby spiders crawling around it and Chaeyoung assumed someone must have squished their mom because they were scared of it and left them orphaned.
Lisa was forced to take the baby spiders outside so they could roam free so her best friend would stop being hysterical about the fact they no longer had a mom and that she didn't want to accidentally step on one and kill the baby spiders too.
________
Chaeyoung gave Felix a huge hug, wished him luck and ran to find Jisoo.
Kai led Lisa and Felix to his mother and Lisa got the biggest hug of her life from her again and after five minutes of Kai's mother gushing over Lisa once more, mostly because Jessi and the other Mrs. Kim, Jisoo's mom, had gotten her tipsy in the few minutes they had been gone because she wasn't a drinker and they had just happened to be refilling their drinks and caught her standing demurely by herself, sipping on her drink, and they decided to strike a conversation with her.
They convinced her to take shots with them and since she was somewhat acquainted with them considering Jessi worked at the school with her soon to be ex husband and the other Mrs. Kim was big in the charity world, she said why not. She made some new friends just like her son had hoped and now she was tipsy and having a great time.
Kai gave Lisa a pointed look so Lisa proceeded to introduce Felix to his mother.
"Mrs. Kim?"
"Lisa!" She said, almost giggling, which was definitely out of character for her. She was usually very reserved. "What is it dear?"
"This is Felix. Kai's boyfriend."
"Nice to meet you, Felix." Mrs. Kim said.
"You too Mrs. Kim." Felix rushed out, feeling way too anxious.
Lisa jumped in again. "I actually just found out he's doing his doctorate at SNU already even though he's younger than all of us yet he's already at that level. He's great isn't he? How old were you when you graduated high school?" Lisa asked Felix with an eyebrow raised, trying to encourage him to speak because she could tell he was even more nervous than Kai was right now.
"Um, sixteen." Felix answered nervously, avoiding direct eye contact with Kai's mom because he knew how much Kai adored her and this would be a make or break for their relationship and if he messed it up they would be done despite Kai never voicing it to him and knowing the last thing Kai wanted to do was break up with him, but Kai was a mama's boy so Felix really needed to win her over.
"That's so impressive." Lisa told him. Of course she was just hyping him up for Kai's sake but in all honesty, she really wasn't lying because she did find it impressive.
Especially considering the fact that when she was sixteen she was getting arrested and basically dropping out of school. "You're just as smart as my girl. She's going to be a surgeon. She's basically a genius with all of the things she manages to do. She even already has her own nonprofit." Lisa said proudly.
Lisa couldn't help but brag about Jennie, not mentioning her by name so as not to trigger Mrs. Kim considering she was Kai's forced girlfriend for years. She didn't want to ruin it for Kai. She didn't expect for Mrs. Kim to already know about them.
"Right, you're dating Jennie now. Kai told me. She's such a sweet girl. You're very lucky. I've always liked her. You're right about her being a genius, not to mention the fact she's very studious and diligent.
She's the one that helped my K.K learn how to read even though she was younger than him. My husband was really harsh on him and screamed at him all the time whenever he got something wrong and I think it scared him so much he just couldn't focus and learn because he was too nervous about failing.
I think even little Jennie saw that so when they weren't out wreaking havoc with Jisoo, which was basically anytime Jisoo was around because she would instigate them in her troublemaking schemesâ" Mrs. Kim paused and giggled as she thought about all the things they got up to because of Jisoo. That girl had been a menace ever since she was born after all.
"âJennie would read to him and taught him words. They were so cute. I would always have to bring them their sandwiches or whatever lunch I prepared for them to the treehouse I had my husband make someone build Kai, they'd always be surrounded by books while Jennie sat next to him and corrected him when he mispronounced a word when she would make him try to read for her to see if he was catching on.
I was so impressed by the fact she was able to do everything on her own when she grew up. I never had her willpower. I accepted my fate, unlike her. She's so strong and smart.
I still need to apologize to our little Jennie for my husband trying to force her into marrying my son and for me not being able to do anything about it.
She didn't deserve being in a loveless marriage just as much as my Kai didn't. At the time I was just grateful it was her and not someone else he was forcing on Kai because I trusted her with him, even if they didn't love each other. She would be a great wife, but it was unfair to her and it was unfair to Kai. I'm glad you found each other and my K.K has someone too."
"You didn't deserve to be in a loveless marriage either Mrs. Kim." Lisa braved to say and Mrs. Kim smiled at her.
"I see why you're my K.K's best friend. He's had many friends, but not many true friends."
"Well, now he has several true friends and a very talented and doting boyfriend so I'd say he's done well for himself in the end." Lisa answered her.
Kai may be an idiot sometimes, at least Lisa loved to call him that to mess with him, but he had been right. One word from Lisa and Kai's mom gushed over Felix too, looping an arm around him and asking him questions about himself as she led him away when they were done with their conversation.
"I'm going to borrow him for a moment K.K. I'd like to know who my son is dating." She said with a wink as she dragged away a blushing Felix after Mrs. Kim complimented him on how far he was ahead academically and how cute he was and started asking him how they met. "My son can embellish sometimes, so tell me, is he really being a good boyfriend? If he's not I'll scold him. You just say the word."
Kai looked on at them fondly as they walked away. He turned to Lisa in relief. "Thanks bestie. You can shoot me as many times as you want for this. I get to keep my boyfriend now thanks to you."
Lisa, for the first time in her life, willingly threw an arm around him.
"I'm happy for you. Felix seems great."
Kai's heart almost burst at the fact Lisa was actually being affectionate with him.
"You're my favorite person besides him and my mom, you know that?"
"I know." Lisa smirked, tapping him over the head affectionately and walking away to go to Jennie who was currently giggling super cutely as she watched her aunt take another turn at the keg stand, who was currently challenging Jisoo and telling her she could do a longer one than her.
Lisa went to back hug Jennie, who immediately melted into her embrace.
"What took you so long?" Jennie pouted. "That was way longer than fifteen minutes."
"Sorry baby, I was a little busy listening to Kai's mom gush over you."
"She's a sweet lady." Jennie said fondly. "Of course she would. Is that why Kai took you away, to meet her?"
"He wanted me to be the one to introduce her to Felix."
"Huh, I guess he really is smarter than I thought."
"What do you mean?"
Jennie smiled and turned in Lisa's arms to face her.
"Mrs. Kim adores Kai, and you single handedly saved him. He's the Kai I remember now, the one I used to actually be fond of. My friend. Don't tell him I said that because I haven't fully forgiven him. I might never. That's not really the point though.
He's smarter than I thought, like he said to me once.
Of course bringing the girl along that plucked him out of his misery to introduce his boyfriend would immediately make Mrs. Kim love him. If you weren't a lesbian she'd probably try to marry him off to you but since she can't and you approve of his boyfriend she'll love him too." Jennie giggled.
"Ew, no." Lisa said, thinking about getting married off to Kai. "I can't believe you withstood that arrangement for so long."
Jennie giggled harder, kissing her.
"Clearly I didn't. I spent my entire life preparing myself to get cut off remember?"
Lisa smiled, "How could I forget that my baby brat really isn't a brat after all?"
Jennie rolled her eyes at her playfully and kissed her again.
"I'm still an ice queen."
"No, you're my queen though." Lisa retorted back, smirking.
Jennie rolled her eyes harder.
"So cheesy."
"You love it."
"Shut up." Jennie mumbled, not denying that truth.
Lisa eventually pulled Jennie into her lap as they watched their elderly neighbors do a keg stand too and laughed hard when they both managed to beat Jisoo's mom, Jessi, and Jisoo's record.
Lisa was laughing so hard at the indignant look on their faces she missed what Jennie said.
"Baby." Jennie whispered. "Babe." Jennie said again. "Lili!" Jennie said louder.
Lisa was too busy laughing, holding Jennie tight to her lap so Jennie finally huffed and yelled "Idiot!"
"Hmm. Sorry baby brat, did you say something?" Lisa said, looking up at her with a massive grin on her face.
"Look."
Lisa followed Jennie's line of sight and watched as their other neighbor, Irene, approached her dance mentor Seulgi.
"Fuck. I'm about to lose another bet aren't I?" Lisa said as she watched them talk because they kept getting closer and closer together. She knew Jennie was probably going to win this one, especially after Seulgi excused herself for a moment to refill Irene's drink and Irene shut down everyone that approached her despite being super extroverted before Seulgi and waited diligently for Seulgi to come back.
Jennie giggled at her. Lisa had told her about how Seulgi had gotten rejected by their 'straight' neighbor when they met back up and that they could never happen, so they made a bet.
Jennie didn't believe she would lose because she had spoken to Irene too at some point during the party and once Irene told her how Seulgi had reacted when Irene said she didn't want to have another blind date and that she was happily single, Jennie knew Irene was sold on her.
She spoke of her so fondly and told Jennie how this girl named Seulgi had complimented her but hadn't overstepped any boundaries and about how much she found it charming that she had taken a chance on Irene and bowed out gracefully when Irene said she wasn't interested in dating at the moment.
How she told her if Irene was ever interested and changed her mind that she could contact her if she wanted to, but she didn't press any more than that and it made Irene want to give it a try even though she'd never dated a girl before because that's the one thing she had always hated about the men she had dated, that they were the opposite of Seulgi.
They always pushed when she said no. They always thought she was playing hard to get. Seulgi had made her think chivalry wasn't dead. Not to mention she was really attractive so Irene had been going back and forth all night about approaching her again and she finally gave in when Jennie told her it couldn't hurt if she got to know her a little bit at least.
Jennie knew Seulgi by now because of Lisa. She knew she was confident and self assured and Jennie knew she wouldn't get her feelings hurt if Irene decided girls just weren't for her. She knew she'd rather appreciate the chance and lose out than not get a chance with Irene at all.
Lisa had told her about the interaction between them that she had sort of witnessed, because she had been mostly spaced out after the news of her getting to dance in such a huge Kpop act, but she was still adamant that Irene would never go for Seulgi so they made a bet over it. Jennie knew she would win.
"You're so not winning this one baby brat." Lisa said. "I'm finally going to win a bet." Lisa said smugly. "She shut her down so quick that if it hadn't been Seulgi the person would have been embarrassed."
Lisa was absolutely wrong. She thought it would take weeks to settle the bet because they had set a timeframe for how long they would wait to see if Irene took up Seulgi's offer, but not even ten minutes later after finding Jennie, she watched as Irene shyly grabbed Seulgi's hand to get her attention.
They had a short conversation. Irene giggled at everything Seulgi said. Eventually Seulgi leaned in to whisper into Irene's ear and Irene nodded, then they both watched as Seulgi leaned in and gave Irene a kiss.
"Please slap her please slap her please slap her." Lisa said, still hoping she'd win the bet. She sighed heavily when she watched Irene melt into the kiss instead. She interlaced their fingers together afterwards and led them out of the house.
Seulgi caught Lisa's eye and winked.
"Fuck." Lisa said.
Jennie giggled harder.
Lisa sighed. "I guess you win. What do you want baby brat?"
Jennie beamed.
"I have a list of demands."
"Of course my Ice Queen would have several demands for just one bet." Lisa said smirking as Jennie glared playfully at her. "I'm surprised you didn't have a whole contract written out when we made the bet."
Jennie rolled her eyes playfully.
"Shut up, idiot. Anyway, first, I must get piggy back rides whenever I require of them."
"Got it."
"Secondly, if you let go during cuddles even for a second without my permission, you will not be getting any for a month."
"God forbid." Lisa said blanching, thinking about not getting to be intimate with Jennie for a whole month. That sounded like torture. They were so good now that everything had been resolved.
They were in a honeymoon stage that at this point Lisa was sure would never end so even a couple of days of not having Jennie like that sounded like torture. Lisa finally came to her senses. "Wait, I'm freaking out for no reason. I'll never let you go anyway so I think I'm safe. Unless I'm dying or something I doubt I'd let you go in the middle of the night, even in my sleep. Next demand?"
"Next demand, you will be my human alarm clock." Jennie said adamantly. "Every single day."
"But you hate getting woken up Nini!" Lisa whined. "Sleep is like one of your favorite pastimes. If I'm the one that has to wake you up every day you're going to end up hating me or resenting me." Lisa pouted.
Jennie smirked and leaned in to whisper into Lisa's ear.
"I think you know how best to wake me up baby." Jennie rasped out. "I want you to wake me up like that every single day. Is that okay with you? Or should I just set my phone alarm to wake me up instead of that wonderful mouth of yours?"
Lisa shook her head no frantically, realizing what Jennie had really meant by a human alarm clock. "No, I can do it. Your phone needs to charge anyway. Let me do it. Please let me do it. That's okay. It's totally okay with me. So okay. More than okay. Super okay. Can we start now?" Lisa asked because she was already turned on.
"Last demand." Jennie said. "You will make love to me all night tonight. Got it my idiot?"
"Fuck I'm so in love with you. Let's go ahead and start with your last demand baby brat." Lisa said as she pulled them both up. The house was packed so there was really only one place to go to have some privacy.
They went down the hidden stairs, put in Rosie's birthday to get into the bomb shelter. The door beeped red.
"Fuck, she changed it. Always a fucking cockblock" Lisa said scowling, thinking about ordering an uber to take them to her office or something so they could have some privacy.
Jennie giggled, kissing Lisa's cheek. "Let me try."
Lisa moved aside and watched Jennie put in the date of Rosie's and Jisoo's anniversary. It didn't work.
Lisa huffed. "I swear to god. This is awful! I need you, I can't really wait to go somewhere to have you." Lisa finished pouting.
"Wait baby, I think I got it." Jennie said smirking. She put the date of the day Jisoo proposed to Rosie.
Jennie was right, the door clicked open.
Lisa didn't even wait after that, she dragged Jennie inside, shut the door and made her straddle her at the top of the stairs. They didn't even make it two steps inside before Lisa was already stripping her.
"Fuck, baby." Jennie moaned because as usual, Lisa was relentless with her and Jennie was already about to come a mere minute into it because Lisa was just too good with her mouth and her fingers and she was way too sexy and Jennie could never ever resist her.
Also as per usual, Lisa was adamant on tainting the entire place with their sexcapades so it was hours before they finally made it to the loft bed because Lisa was adamant on making Jennie come on every single surface she could.
And despite them going at it all night, they still managed a few more rounds in that loft bed before cuddling into each other feeling sated and exhausted and Jennie feeling way more than a little sore, but she wouldn't have it any other way because the night was perfect and Lisa had spent hours upon hours making Jennie feel way too good. It was all so worth it.
"Thank you for my party Lili." Jennie whispered as she laid directly on top of Lisa, tracing her collarbones and her lips and her eyebrows reverently.
"Anything for you baby brat, you don't need to thank me for anything because I'm happy when you're happy."
"I love you so much." Jennie murmured.
Lisa hummed contentedly as she felt Jennie trace her face and her neck.
"I love you more than Rosie loves food and Jisoo loves games, sleeping, and chicken." Lisa retorted, saying it in a joking manner but she really meant it.
Jennie giggled again.
"God you're so cute." Lisa said, taking the cute gummy smile and cute giggles in.
Jennie nuzzled into Lisa's neck, taking in her scent. "You're beautiful Lili." Jennie murmured. Her breathing evened out eventually and Lisa figured Jennie had finally fallen asleep.
"I can't wait to ask you to marry me. I hope you say yes my love." Lisa whispered, slurring a bit because she had almost passed out. She was exhausted and sated and way too happy. She peacefully found sleep seconds later.
Jennie's eyes opened and she had never grinned so hard in her life. She heard Lisa's soft cute snores and raised herself up for a second, looking into Lisa's face who was sound asleep.
"I can't wait to say yes baby. Please ask me soon because now that I know you want to be with me like that too I don't think I can wait. I'm not like Rosie. I'm very impatient Manoban. Ask me already."
Jennie pecked Lisa on the lips before settling down on her again.
Lisa sort of stirred.
"Baby brat, did you say something?" Lisa mumbled.
"Yes." Jennie murmured.
"What was it? Sorry, I fell asleep."
"I said yes, idiot." Jennie said, smirking to herself, knowing Lisa had no idea she was saying yes to marrying her, not to the fact she said something.
"What, I'm confused?" Lisa asked sleepily.
"Yes baby. I will. Now go to sleep."Â Jennie answered vaguely again.
"You will what?"
"Lili, just know it's a yes. Now get your rest, so you can find the courage to ask me already."
Lisa was a little confused but mostly tired and very tipsy.
"'M sorry nini. Maybe I'm a little too drunk. I don't understand. Tell me tomorrow?"
"Yes baby." Jennie smiled again. "I'll tell you every day."
I'll tell you yes I'll marry you any day you ask. Jennie thought internally.
"K love. Thanks. 'M sorry I didn't get it."
"Goodnight baby, sorry for waking you, I must be tipsy too." Jennie said, unable to keep the excitement out of her voice.
"Did you have a good night baby brat?"
"Best night of my life so far love. Thank you." Jennie said honestly. She'd had a blast at the party. Her father was out of her life. And she found out the love of her life wanted to marry her, Jennie didn't think her life could get any better. "Did you have a good night?"
Lisa squeezed her tight to her chest.
And yet, Jennie's life always got better when she had Lisa close like that.
"Every night I get to spend with you becomes the best night of my life." Lisa mumbled, quickly falling asleep again.
Jennie of course, swooned, because she knew Lisa meant what she said, and its exactly how she felt too.
