Chapter 252
Conquering His Cold Heart
252 Getting Answers â I
âPrince Alexander!â Hamilton exclaimed and went near Alexander when the Crown Prince suddenly collapsed down to the floor.
He wanted to shake the Crown Prince to try and bring him back to his consciousness, however, he couldnât quite bring himself to do that with his bloody hands.
âPrince Alexander! Please, wake up! Your Highness,â Hamilton tried calling him again but it was of no use.
âArgh!â Hamilton growled in frustration and quickly looked around to see if he could find anything useful. He saw a glass of water lying on the table close by. He swiftly went to grab the glass, and he splashed the whole glass of water onto the Princeâs face.
Alexander instantly gasped for air and opened his eyes. âAaah!â He got startled when he suddenly saw a pair of red eyes hovering right above his eyes.
âItâs me. Itâs just me,â Hamilton swiftly maintained some distance from the Crown Prince and mumbled in a reassuring voice.
However, Alexander was scared of him now that he knew what kind of a creature Hamilton was. He quickly sat up and pushed himself back until his back was pressed against the wall. He kept on breathing in very heavily while looking at Hamilton with fear in his eyes.
âPrince Alexander, you donât have to be scared of me. I am not the enemy here.â Hamilton sighed when his words werenât doing the trick. Alexander looked even more terrified.
So, Hamilton quietly made himself comfortable on the floor, a little further away from Alexander. He then asked in as polite a voice as he could, âDonât you have any other questions that you would like to ask me? I apologize that I wasnât truthful about my real identity the first time we met. And I hope I can regain your trust. So, you can ask me anything. Please.â
.....
Alexander gulped to reduce the dryness of his throat. He thought for a while. Just a while ago, he had thousands of questions in his mind. But his mind went all blank when he actually wanted to ask them to Hamilton.
So, Hamilton took it upon himself to break the ice once more. He looked at Alexander with a soft look on his face and introduced himself to the Crown Prince once again, this time, focusing on his vampire side, âPrince Alexander, if you donât have any questions then let me start by reintroducing myself. I am a vampire, which you now know. I am almost four hundred years old.â
Alexander suddenly turned his gaze to Hamiltonâs face when he mentioned his age. âWhat? He looks like he is the same age as me,â he thought with a stunned look on his face.
âNow, when I say I am a vampire, you might be wondering if I drink blood,â Hamilton paused to analyze Alexanderâs reaction when he mentioned blood.
And as he expected, Alexanderâs interest suddenly peaked when he mentioned that topic.
Thus, Hamilton answered himself. He nicely and slowly put down all the facts, hoping that Alexander wouldnât start to freak out again. âMost of us have humans who are employed in our houses. And their main job is to eat healthily and offer a small amount of their blood to us. We donât harm any humans to acquire our main diet.â
He also made sure to sing some praise of his cousin. âYour brother-in-law was the one to pass the law that strictly prohibited the vampires from hunting freely like some savages or animals. We do not resort to violence to get what is needed for our bodies. We only acquire it from those who are willing to give.â
Alexander furrowed his brows as if he doubted what Hamilton was saying.
So, Hamilton further added, âThe only time we take the blood from them without their will is when the human criminals are on death row. Their blood is distributed among the lower class vampires by the Crown.â
Hamilton didnât want to dump all the information on Alexander at once and scare him to his core. So, when the Crown Prince didnât ask any follow-up questions, he decided to stop.
The two of them sat down in silence for quite a while.
Hamilton was constantly looking towards the door; he was still on high alert if any enemies were to sneak inside.
After some time, he suddenly heard Alexanderâs low voice.
âSo, no one has ever attacked my sister to...â
Hamilton turned to look at the Crown Prince, happy that he was finally speaking up. And he answered, âNo. She is our Queen. No one would dare to attack her unless they have a death wish. They will immediately face the consequences from our King.â
Alexander was looking at the facial expressions of the Lord. He didnât see any signs that told him that Hamilton was lying to him. However, he didnât know if he was to believe him or not. He had learned about human behaviors and not vampire behavior.
And seeing that confused look on Alexanderâs face, Hamilton further supported his claim, âYou might have noticed it yourself. The King and the Queen deeply love and respect each other. If you ask me, I have rarely seen this caring side of my cousin. And it sometimes amazes me when I see him so devoted to the Queen. He treasures her greatly. And I can vouch that he would never let anyone put a scratch on her.â
Alexander went silent again. He thought back to each and every moment that he had shared with his sister and brother-in-law.
He recalled how the two of them looked at each other, their small caring gestures for each other, and the way his sister desperately ran back to her husband after the misunderstanding. He also recalled how enraged Caspian was when Everard kissed her. And he recalled how the King was treating his ill wife himself.
Everything that he had witnessed today pointed out that what Hamilton said about the two of them was true.
Above everything else, he had seen how a smile would bloom on his sisterâs lips whenever she gazed at her husbandâs face. He had never seen her that excited and happy, not even when she drowned herself in her favorite books.
And for her to love something or someone more than the books was proof that they were very important to her.
âDoes my sister know?â Alexander asked, worried that his sisterâs heart would break if she wasnât already aware of the truth. âDoes she know what you all are?â
