Chapter 419 Intruders in the Hall
Conquering His Cold Heart
Immediately after lying about the purpose behind his visit, Regulus and his men began pushing through the crowd to make their way toward the altar.

âArgh! Who the hell just shoved me to the side?â one of the werewolves of the Crestfire clan grunted and looked behind when he felt someone pushing him aside with much greater force than what was necessary.
All he saw was some more people shouting and getting mad at someone who pushed them too.
Soon, the commotion that was caused by Regulus and his men was noticed by Jerome as well as Everard.
âWho the hell are they?â Everard frowned at the disorder that was arising and asked his newly appointed Beta.
Jerome was already on his guard by now because though the ceremony crashers were still quite far away from the altar, he recognized the distinct smell that they carried.
He abruptly gestured for some of the werewolves who were standing near the corner of the altar to come to him. And as they were inconspicuously making their way toward Jerome, he informed the King, âIt seems like they are some uninvited guests from the Atkinson clan.â
Everard instantly looked alarmed because he knew that they were bad news. âWhy now?â he looked at the intruders and grumbled.
Jerome took a deep breath and replied, âThey canât be here at this hour for any good reason.â
âMilord.â Jeromeâs close subordinates stood before him and bowed their heads.
Jerome instantly pointed at the intruders and gave those men an order, âGo to them and politely ask them to leave.â Since they were heading straight for the altar, he also added, âIf they want an audience with the King then ask them to visit the castle tomorrow.â
âAs you wish, Milord.â
Those men instantly rushed down the altar and made their way toward Regulus and his group of men.
Everardâs eyes were still following the intruders. And while he watched them, he was getting this unsettling feeling in his heart.
âLorenzo must have explained everything to Romulusâ brother, right?â he wondered if these people from the Atkinson clan were on his back because of Romulusâ death.
Before he could dive deeper into his thoughts, Jerome came closer to him and whispered, âYour Majesty, we shouldnât be distracted by the intruders. Our men will take care of them. Shall I announce to everyone that they can now enjoy the feast? They have to be out of the capital before the full moon rises.â
Everard glanced at Jerome and gave a nod of approval. âYes, you should do that. We canât afford any accidents to occur because of the members of our clan.â
âAgreed.â
Jerome then walked to the center of the altar and cleared his throat before shouting his lungs out, âFellow brothers and sisters. We have prepared a grand feast for all of you to celebrate the beginning of a new era for our clan. Please enjoy the feast to your fullest before you depart for your hometowns.â
Everyone was waiting for further instructions. And when they received one, the crowd that was gathered around the altar began to scatter around to serve themselves some food from the buffet tables that were placed at several places, inside and outside the Great Hall.
When the people began to disperse, Regulus clenched his teeth because he wanted to create a big drama in front of everyone.
Seeing the chance slipping past him, he ran at an even greater speed, dodging everyone who stood in his way, and he soon reached the foot of the altar.
The men who had gone down to stop Regulus and the others only managed to stop everyone except Regulus.
Jerome recognized the man and knew that he brought no good news. Thus, he quickly sprinted to the side from where Regulus was about to climb the altar.
He stood on the way and pretended to politely greet Regulus, âOh, itâs good to finally meet you in person. If I am not mistaken, you must be Lord Romulusâ brother, Regulus.â
Regulus also faked a smile at Jerome and nodded, âYes, I am. And you must be the loyal Beta of the late Alpha. Iâve heard a lot about you.â
âYou are right.â Jerome kept on standing in Regulusâ way and further introduced himself, âI am now the loyal Beta of the current Alpha as well.â n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
He then slightly narrowed his eyes at Regulus. The displeasure in his heart got reflected in his eyes when he said in a satirical manner, âYouâre a bit late, Milord. Else you could have witnessed the battle as well as the oath-taking ceremony.â
Regulus could tell that Jerome was pissed at him for coming in uninvited. But he didnât care. He simply smirked and said brazenly, âOh, I thought it would be rude to leave my own ceremony. Else I would have come here earlier than I did.â
He then slightly tilted his head and looked past Jerome to take a glance at the King. He smirked when his eyes met with that of Everardâs.
Everard simply feigned ignorance and turned to face the other way. He wanted Regulus and his men to be gone from the Great Hall.
Regulus scoffed thinking that Everard was unable to meet his eyes because the pompous King was guilty of killing Romulus and the others.
He kept on narrowing his eyes at Everardâs tall figure and climbed a step. He then said to Jerome while keeping his eyes locked on Everard, âLord Jerome, I was hoping that I could congratulate His Majesty on becoming the alpha of this glorious clan. Since I have been chosen as the new alpha of the Atkinson clan, I thought that we ought to congratulate each other and establish a connection.â
Jerome wasnât swayed. He climbed down a step and answered while tilting his body to the side as if he didnât want Regulus to even see Everard, let alone meet him and talk to him, âIâm afraid that I canât allow it, Milord. You know that only the members of the Crestfire clan have that privilege today.â
He turned to look at the other men of the Atkinson clan who were glaring in his direction. They clearly didnât display any harmonious intention.
Jerome looked back at Regulus and further said, âWhy donât you come back to the castle tomorrow? I will leave a pass at the gate for you, and a few of your men if you would like.â
âOh, but since Iâm already hereâ¦â Regulus took some more steps and stood beside Jerome. He looked up at the man who was taller than him and smiled. Then he finished what he was saying, ââ¦Canât you make an exception for me? I promise I will keep it short and sweet.â
Before Jerome could protest or stop Regulus from taking another step toward the newly appointed alpha, Regulus forced his way toward the center of the altar.
He stood in front of Everard with his head held high and then greeted Everard while hiding the murderous intention that was bubbling inside his heart, âItâs a lovely night, isnât it, Your Majesty?â
Everardâs heart skipped a beat when Regulus suddenly stood in front of him and greeted him with a smile that he knew was fake. Nevertheless, he also forced a slight smile on his face and replied, âYes, indeed. Itâs a very wonderful night.â
âI am Regulus Atkinson.â Instead of bowing before the King, Regulus held out his hand for a handshake and said, âI am pleased to have finally met you."
