Chapter 105 - DIAMOND
The Number One Star in the Interstellar Era
âSISTER Sienna, thank you for your high regard of me,â Astrid said gently. âBut I donât really want to be presumptuous and think that Iâm someone a company like Polaris would want.â
Siennaâs two assistants who were sitting on the other table and were listening to the twoâs conversation glanced at each other. They were actually quite worried when Sienna suddenly invited Astrid to signed to Polaris.
It should be known that the actors and actresses in Polaris were all known for their acting skills. The president and founder of Polaris really only had one requirement in signing artists to the company â they had to have talent. He didnât care if one was beautiful or handsome, what he cared about was a personâs talent.
Whatâs more the president hated hyping things up. For example, making fake stories or rumors just to make the artists in his company popular. He also hated backroom deals. He never allowed his artists to âsellâ themselves in exchange for a movie or a show. Itâs one of the major rules in Polaris. Once an artist was found to break that, they would immediately release from their contract.
Itâs the reason why the president was given the nickname, âold-fashioned grouchâ. But despite the strictness, many up-and-coming artists in the Empire still wanted to be part of Polaris. In that regard, they wouldnât lose to big companies like Kaleido and Sonare.
Itâs just that, Polaris was very picky in comparison to the two who treated artists like mass-produced products. For Polaris, they didnât need that many, all they need was the diamond among the shiny fake ones.
Thus, even with a few artists under their name, their reputation was still one of the best in the industry. Just simply being a part of such company could give one the reputation of being âgoodâ at acting.
They were worried that Astrid would take advantage of Siennaâs kindness and just shamelessly asked the other to take him to Polarisâ company building. They could see that their artist really liked this teenager. With Siennaâs good temper, she would definitely not refuse him.
Thatâs why they were relieved and also a bit surprised when they heard what Astrid said. They didnât expect that he would actually refuse Siennaâs symbolic offer. But they were truly glad that he did.
Yes, he was indeed quite good compared to other newcomers his age. But one must know that Polaris usually scout the top graduates of prestigious performing arts colleges. Really, how could this barely adult teenager be compared to those top graduates.
If Sienna brought Astrid to the company, the one who would be scolded was her. As assistants, how could they let their artist be scolded? Itâs a good thing that this teenager actually wasnât greedy or shameless.
Their impression of Astrid became even better. At least now, they knew that this teenager wouldnât just take advantage of their artistâs kind heart.
Sienna pouted when she heard Astridâs response. âWhat being presumptuous? Youâre certainly not! Iâll tell my agent to watch our filming tomorrow. She will surely have the same opinion as me.â
Astrid only smiled helplessly. âItâs okay, Sister Sienna. Iâm not really in a rush. Iâd probably be busy in school and stuff anyway.â
Of course, heâs just saying that to appear humble. No one liked people who openly showed their greed. Not that he was. Well, maybe in some aspects of his life. One example was his career.
He was a very ambitious person. If thereâs a good opportunity that could help him in his career, he wouldnât hesitate to take it. Of course, that didnât include him being taken advantaged of â sexually or otherwise.
Sienna wanted to say more, but the young man â who he now knew as Astridâs twin brother â returned and sat opposite them. Although the other was way younger, she couldnât help but feel a bit scared. Well, not really scared. Probably more of apprehensive.
Maybe because she could feel that the other had a higher level of physique and mental strength. Sheâs a bit sensitive that way.
And so, the three just continued to eat peacefully.
It didnât take long before they finished their lunch.
âThank you, Sister Sienna for treating us to lunch,â Astrid said.
âThank you,â Reas also followed.
Sienna waved her hand. âItâs nothing. Itâs just right for me to pay. Iâm older and a working adult after all.â
They walked out of the restaurant and got on the land vehicle that brought them there.
âOh, before I forgot, since youâd probably be filming your scene tomorrow with the person who plays the villain in the movie, I think I should warn you a little about him. Heâs kind of flirty, so, he might flirt with you and stuff. No, he will definitely do that. But itâs all harmless. So, I hope you wouldnât be offended or affected by it.â
Reas frowned immediately when he heard that. He was about to grumble and probably even say something now so respectful when he felt Astrid suddenly grasping his hand. He looked at his brother. Astrid was still looking at the actress, as if listening attentively to what sheâs saying. But Reas could feel that his brother was silently telling him not to say anything. Astrid probably knew how he would react just by hearing such a thing.
Even though he didnât want to, he knowingly shut up.
Astrid was relieved when he didnât hear Reas complaining. Once again, heâs thankful for their natural tacit understanding.
âIs Sister Sienna friends with him?â he thought of asking.
After all, she surely wouldnât tell him that this âflirtyâ person didnât really mean him any harm if the two werenât friends.
âIn a way,â Sienna said, laughing awkwardly. âHeâs actually a fellow artist under Polaris. He just debuted five years ago. Heâs the closest in age to you. If you just ignore his affectionate attitude, Iâm sure youâll get along well. But if he ended up pestering you too much, just tell this sister. I will handle him for you.â
Astrid chuckled when he heard the âaffectionate attitudeâ description. âOkay. Thank you, Sister Sienna.â
