Chapter 14 Late Night Shenanigans

No one's POV

Currently, Nhazul was standing in front of Chizuru after she has lost the key to her apartment, and Nhazul would continue to look at her dumbfounded.

Nhazul: ...-_-... Huh?

Without saying anything, Chizuru walks past Nhazul and enters his apartment, while he looks at her annoyed.

Nhazul: ...-_-... Oh, please, come right in...

Chizuru: It looks like the landlord isn't home right now. And I'm not sure when she'll be back. I rang the bell, but no response. I called my realtor too, but they're long closed. So I've must've lost it at the Batting Center. I called, but no one answered.

Nhazul: Uh, huh...

Chizuru: Oh, sorry, were you about to go to bed?

Nhazul: Not at the moment, no. But what do you plan on doing? If she's not going to be back until morning. I doubt you'll sleep here, so do you have a friend you can spend the night at?

Chizuru: I do, but there's something I want to check first.

Nhazul just raised a brow.

Nhazul: And that is?

Walking towards the back, Chizuru opens the balcony door and walks out.

Nhazul: The balcony?

Chizuru: I'm pretty sure I locked everything, but I want to try it.

Chizuru tries to peek and see if its locked, but as she struggles to see, wiggling her butt in front of Nhazul, making him roll his eyes, looking away.

Nhazul's thoughts: ...-_-... I swear this, girl...

Chizuru: Okay, yeah... I can't get a good look from here. Maybe if I lean over a little more...

Chizuru said attempting to stand up on the railing, catching Nhazul's attention.

Nhazul: Hey, wait, maybe you shouldn't-

As continued to attempt to stand on the rail, Chizuru ends up slipping and almost falling over. Quickly moving forward, Nhazul ends up grabbing the first thing he could get his hands on to stop her from falling, which happened to be her butt, making the both of them blush.

Chizuru: H-Hey! Where do you think you're touching?!

Nhazul: Would you have rather I had let you fall and break your neck?!

Chizuru: There are plenty of other places you could've grabbed!!!

Nhazul: ...-_-... Oh, yes, let me quickly run through all the possible options while someone is falling off a fucking railing!

Chizuru: Stop being a smart ass and just pull me up!

Chizuru said struggling and wiggling, along with kicking at Nhazul.

Nhazul: Will you stop struggling! I'm losing my grip!

Nhazul said, grabbing her waist with his other hand to pull her up, however Nhazul loses his balance pulling her up and they ended up falling over each other, with Chizuru on top of him, essentially straddling him, making them both blush in this situation.

Nhazul: ...

Chizuru: ...

As the two would continue to look at one another, the doorbell suddenly rings surprising both.

Nhazul: Who the hell could that be?

As Chizuru would quickly get off of him, Nhazul would slowly make his way to the door, still wondering who it was.

Nhazul's thoughts: I doubt it's Ruka, she knows better to try and come here this late... Is it Zane or Sai?

As he checks the peephole on his door, he soon sees Mami who's at this door, surprising and annoying him.

Nhazul's thoughts: ...-_-... You have got to be kidding me...

As Mami would ring the bell again, Chizuru would sneak over to him.

Chizuru: Hey, aren't you going to-

Nhazul quickly put his hand over Chizuru's mouth, motioning her to be quiet.

Nhazul: Be quiet. It's Mami...

Nhazul would whisper, much to Chizuru's shock.

Chizuru: Mami...?! What is she doing here...?!

Nhazul: Your guess is as good as mine... I don't even know how she got my address...!

Chizuru: This is bad... If she sees me here...

Nhazul: No shit...

Nhazul would then looked back towards the door.

Nhazul's thoughts: Why is she even here... I haven't heard from her since the last time I was with Sumi... She knows that Chizuru is a Rental. If she sees us like this...

Quickly thinking, Nhazul would grab Chizuru's hand and her shoes, leading her to the kitchen, and her sat up against the wall.

Chizuru: What are you-

Nhazul: Be quiet and don't move...

Nhazul would walk back and grab his headphones and put them around his neck, before going to answer the door, acting surprised.

Nhazul: Mami? What are you doing here?

Mami: Oh, Nhazi! You are home!

Nhazul: Yeah... I was wearing headphones and didn't hear you knock or the doorbell at first.

Mami: Ah, so that's why. I thought you were ignoring me and pretending you weren't home..

Nhazul: Speaking of, how did you even find my address?

Mami: Oh! I remember seeing it on the GPS of the rental car from when we went to the beach.

Nhazul: I see...

Mami: So... Can I come in? I wanted to talk...

Raising a brow, Nhazul would speak up.

Nhazul: I'm actually about to run to the store. We can talk and walk.

Mami: Oh, that's better. It's nice out tonight.

Taking a moment to put his shoes on, Nhazul would walk out and close his door, locking it. As the two began to walk down the sidewalk together, Mami was the first to speak.

Mami: You know... I heard that Chizuru is a Rental Girlfriend.

Nhazul: Yeah, I know.

Hearing this, Mami looked at Nhazul surprised.

Mami: Huh? You knew?

Nhazul: Yeah. She told me what happened.

To this, Mami would just smile.

Mami: I figured I should tell you that I know ASAP, so that's why I dropped by.

Nhazul: Is that so...

Mami: I was so shocked though. I had no idea such a service existed, and I couldn't believe you and her were, y'know. You're not the type of person to do something like that.

Upon hearing this, Nhazul would get a bit annoyed.

Nhazul: Well...I guess we're both capable of things that the other wouldn't expect...

Upon hearing this, Mami would immediately catch on to what Nhazul had hinted at, before looking away.

Mami: I'm sorry...

Nhazul: Huh?

Nhazul looked over and saw that Mami genuinely felt bad, surprising him.

Mami: I know that I'm the one who drove you to this... But I don't understand it... Why would you still Rent her out? Have you fallen for her?

Nhazul wouldn't say anything, still looking at Mami, before continuing to look ahead, thinking about everything he's been through with Chizuru, not knowing how he feels anymore.

Nhazul: No... I haven't. Along with that, I have my reasons of why I'm renting her. Reasons that are none of your concern.

Mami: I see...

As the two would continue to walk, Nhazul decided to take Mami to the train station, due to how late it was.

Nhazul: It's getting late. The trains are going ti stop running soon.

Mami: Right...

As Nhazul went to walk away, he suddenly felt his hand be grabbed, as Mami had do so to stop him from walking away.

Mami: I don't mean to belittle Chizuru's work, but at the end of the day, it's business... But spending your time and money on something like that is a total waste...

Nhazul wouldn't say anything for a few moments, however after a second he would once again speak.

Nhazul: How about I make you an offer.

Mami: Huh?

Nhazul: I'll tell you my reasons for renting Chizuru, and in exchange you tell me why... Why you broke my heart and destroyed my ability to trust...

Upon hearing this, Mami's eyes widened, as she would just look down.

Mami: You... You left me no other choice...

Upon hearing this, Nhazul's anger would begin to grow, however he managed to control himself, snatching his hand from her.

Nhazul: "I left you no choice..." So you still refuse to tell me...

Without another word, Nhazul would simply leave Mami at the train station, as she would just look down.

Mami: ...

(Timeskip)

After taking Mami to the train station, Nhazul would return to his apartment, unlocking his door and seeing Chizuru holding some of his stuff.

Chizuru: Oh, you're back.

Nhazul: Yeah...

Chizuru: How did it go?

Nhazul: Oh, it went...

Nhazul said, walking into his apartment. As he did, Chizuru could tell something was wrong.

Chizuru: Are you alright?

Nhazul: I'm fine...

Walking inside, Nhazul could immediately see things were picked up, making him raise a brow.

Nhazul: Did you clean in here?

Chizuru would soon cross her arms. Looking away.

Chizuru: You were gone for awhile and I got bored...

Suddenly, the two heard a door open from below on the lower level. Walking out, the two would see that the Landlord was back.

Chizuru: Oh, the Landlord is back.

Nhazul: Seems so.

Chizuru: Well, Goodnight. Thanks for having me.

As Chizuru began to walk away towards his apartment, he soon began to think back to Sayuri's request, along with Mami asking if he's fallen for her. Still unsure about his feelings towards, Nhazul would just speak up.

Nhazul: If you ever need help with anything, don't be a stranger.

Chizuru: Huh?

Nhazul: If you can't turn towards your friends or parents, I'll do what I can.

As Chizuru would look towards Nhazul, she wouldn't say anything, leaning against the railing.

Chizuru: They're gone.

Nhazul: Huh?

Chizuru: My parents. They're both gone.

Upon hearing this, Nhazul would look at Chizuru surprised as she continued to speak. Chizuru would go on to explain that father left when she was little. Her mother went to live with Chizuru's grandparents, but she and her grandfather died soon after that. Her only family left is her grandma and she promised her to become an actress, and dreams that her grandma sees her on the screen. This revelation would surprise Nhazul even more.

Nhazul's thoughts: So that's why it never felt like her family was around...

Chizuru: Made you cringe? The girl who uses others money to pay for her dream is nothing special. I'm a failed actress... Just a girl in college clinging to a childish dream...So while I'm happy for your encouragement, you honestly shouldn't expect too much from me.

Nhazul: ...

Chizuru: So, sorry about everything tonight. Goodnight.

As Chizuru would go to walk away once again, he spoke up, catching her attention.

Nhazul: Wow... I guess compared to you, I lucked out. Both of my parents are still alive. I can go home, and they'll welcome me with open arms. I'm the older sibling to annoying little brat who's always in my business, but looks up to me so much. We've always been close and I don't know what I'd do without him... I even offered to help pay for his treatments during high school and work full time after I graduated, but they told me to go to college and focus on my own goals and dreams. So compared to you, I've lived such an easy life.

Hearing this, Chizuru would just pout at him annoyed.

Chizuru: What? Are you bragging?

Nhazul: No. I'm actually admiring you. Not many people would be able to go for their dreams under such circumstances. I've said it once, and I'll say it again. You were the MVP of that show, and I believe you'll fulfill your dream.

Chizuru would just look at Nhazul, before turning away blushing a bit.

Chizuru: Thanks...

Chizuru would say, walking away and down the stairs and towards the Landlord's apartment, while returning to his.

Nhazul: Yeah, Goodnight.

Elsewhere, currently while riding on the train, Mami was looking at her phone, scrolling throughout pictures, before going into her favorite section, seeing multiple pictures of her and Nhazul while in high school together.

Mami: ...

(Flashback)

Mami: So... Can I come in? I wanted to talk...

Raising a brow, Nhazul would speak up.

Nhazul: I'm actually about to run to the store. We can talk and walk.

Mami: Oh, that's better. It's nice out tonight.

Taking a moment to put his shoes on, Nhazul would walk out and close his door.

However as he was, she would see a female purse at his apartment.

(Present)

Thinking back to the purse she had saw, Mami would soon clinch her fists tightly extremely irritated.

Mami: ....
