Chapter 101
Betrayal At The Altar (Rachel and David)
Rachel shook her head and refused. âIf I didnât know the meaning of this bracelet, I might have kept it.
Well, since I knew that its meaning is extraordinary, why would I keep it?â
There was nothing worthy of reflection between her and the Smith family.
The only person she found attached to was probably this old man in front of her.
During the three years when Rachel was in the Smith family, she had been looked down upon. Only the
old man in front of her, who was about the same age as her maternal grandfather, truly doted on her
and cared for her in every way.
Old Mr. Smith knew Rachel well. He knew that there was basically no room for negotiation when she
had made a decision.
He sighed and gave a bitter smile. He picked up the red brocade box and said regretfully, âLouis
doesnât get the luck to have you.â
Olivia, who was hiding in the corner, saw the jade bracelet in Old Mr. Smithâs hand. She clenched her
fists tightly with her long nails digging into her flesh, but she did not feel any pain.
Previously, she had underestimated Rachel.
She thought that with Rachelâs background, no one would think highly of her in the Smith family, let
alone treat her nicely. She did not expect that Rachel could actually coax Old Mr. Smith to give her
such a valuable bracelet in private.
Fortunately, Rachel tactfully returned the bracelet.
Otherwise, Olivia thought it would take her a lot of effort to get the bracelet back.
Olivia collected her thoughts and walked in with a smile. âGrandpa Smith.â
At the sight of Olivia, the smile on Old Mr. Smithâs face faded a little. He said calmly, âYouâre here.â
It was visible that he was a little displeased by Oliviaâs appearance here.
Olivia looked at Old Mr. Smith. Her gaze landed on the document that he handed to Rachel.
On it was clearly written the âshare transfer agreementâ!
Oliviaâs pupils constricted. The smile on her face stiffened slightly, and her eyes widened in disbelief.
Old Mr. Smith wanted to transfer the shares under his name to Rachel?
In terms of background, Olivia was the daughter of the Cruise family, which was wellâknown in Seaxas,
although it wasnât one of the few wealthy families.
Rachel, however, was just a wild girl from the countryside.
What made her gain so much favor from Old Mr. Smith?
Qld Mr. Smith first rejected the arrangements to announce her engagement with Louis at the birthday
banquet. Now, he even secretly took out his shares and gave them to Rachel.
Could it be that Rachel was better than her in Old Mr. Smithâs eyes?

Olivia took a deep breath and restrained the intense jealousy in her eyes. Her face was still gentle and
pleasant as she said calmly, âGrandpa Smith, since Miss Grey is here, why donât we let her go to the
banquet in the front hall?â
âOf course.â Old Mr. Smith put down the share transfer agreement and looked up at Rachel. âRachel,
since youâre here, have a meal with me.â
Rachel wanted to refuse, but Old Mr. Smith finally wore her down. In the end, she nodded and agreed.
While they were drinking, Mrs. Smith stood up with a wine glass and proposed, âOld Mr. Smith, today is
your 80th birthday. Why donât we take the opportunity to announce another good news? I know youâve
been looking forward to your greatâgrandsonâ¦â
Before she could finish speaking, Old Mr. Smith slammed the wine glass in his hand on the
table.
He looked up at Mrs. Smith. âDid you turn a deaf ear to what I said before?â
âIâ¦â Mrs. Smith was caught off guard and met the old manâs sharp gaze. Her eyes were filled with
panic. âI just thinkâ¦â
âDo you think Iâm an eyesore at my age?â
âNo, no, no. You know that I donât mean thatâ¦..â
Mrs. Smith was so anxious that she couldnât explain herself. Instead, she made things
worse.
Mr. Smith pursed his lips and said at the right time, âDad, Lillian wants you to be happy.â
âAppreciated, but shove that kind of thoughts out of your mind. Iâm not dead yet. Itâs not up to you to
make decisions for me!â Old Mr. Smith took a deep look at Mrs. Smith with air of quiet authority.
How could he not know what Lillian was thinking?
It was nothing more than forcing him to acknowledge Olivia as his granddaughterâinâlaw on this
occasion. He had looked down on Olivia whom he thought was a fairâweather girlfriend for Louis in the
first place. Besides, Olivia stirred up a wave on the Internet a few days ago, which would only bring
disgrace to the Smith family if she got engaged to Louis at this
time!
Moreover, if Louis was engaged to Olivia shortly after he broke up with Rachel, what would the outside
world say about Louis and the Smith family?
The dining table was filled with a solemn atmosphere. It was not until halfway through the meal that all
the guests raised their glasses to propose a toast for Old Mr. Smith that the atmosphere eased.
After Jane sat down, she looked at Rachel, who was sitting not far away. Her eyes flickered slightly.
âGrandpa, Olivia has specially prepared a big gift for you. Why donât you show us later?â
