Chapter 125
Betrayal At The Altar (Rachel and David)
âThereâs no time to explain.â Rachel Grey grabbed his hand. She wanted to send David Jones out the
door before her grandfather noticed, but it was too late. She could already hear footsteps approaching.
âWeâre finished. We wonât make it in time.â Rachel was feeling very anxious.
David raised his eyebrows. Mischief flashed across his eyes. âItâs only a matter of time before we meet
anyway.â
Meanwhile, Rachel panicked so much that she couldnât hear what he said. She looked around
frantically and saw her spacious and comfortable desk. Then she grabbed Davidâs arm and quickly
walked over. She tried to make him go under the desk without saying a word.
âTry to put up with it in the meantime.â
David was speechless.
âRachel Grey, youâre the first person who dares do this to me.â He held her wrist and stared at her
warningly.
âI donât have a choice either.â Rachel stood on her tiptoes and planted a kiss on his lips. She gave him
a sweet smile to fawn adoration. âBe good.â
âAm I that unpresentable?â
âShould we go on a date tonight?â
David lowered himself and went under the desk without Rachel even asking when he heard her say
that.
At the same time, the door to the office opened.
Although the Johnson family had been prosperous in every generation, Old Mr. Johnson led the family
to be the most successful they had ever been. Even though he had retired and was now behind the
scenes, legends of him conquering the business world were still circulating.
Old Mr. Johnson entered with his walking stick and looked around. âLinda told me that you have a
guest?â
Rachel glanced at David subtly. He was currently hiding under the desk with a gloomy expression while
supporting his chin with his hand. Rachel blatantly lied, âHe just left.â
Old Mr. Johnson nodded slightly. âI heard from Adrian that youâre moving out and living by yourself?â
The company has just started a new project. I might need to work overtime regularly, so itâs
inconvenient to continue staying at home.
Old Mr. Johnson frowned, his expression solemn. âRaeâRae, tell Grandpa honestly. Do you have a
boyfriend?â
Rachelâs eyebrows twitched. âGrandpa, Iâ¦

Johnson interrupted her, his voice mellow. âRaeâRac, Grandpa isnât against dating, but girls should be
more reserved. Be vigilant about who you choose to date. The world is full of treacherous people.
Grandpa fears you canât see through those with ulterior motives. since youâre still young.â
David was speechless. He felt like he was being called out right now,
Old Mr. Johnson was very direct with his words.
David was curious about what Old Mr. Johnsonâs reaction would be if he pulled out the engagement
token.
Rachel caught a glimpse of Davidâs displeasure. Worried that David would act
impulsively, Rachel quietly patted his head. She felt like she was comforting a dog about
to go on a rampage.
âGrandpa, itâs normal for someone to pursue someone as outstanding as me.â Rachel stood up and
walked towards Old Mr. Johnson. She reached out and held his arm. She leaned on his shoulder and
acted like a spoiled child. âOr do you wish that no one loves. your precious granddaughter?â
Old Mr. Johnson snorted at Rachelâs selfâdeprecating words. âHmph, those who donât are just blind!â
He paused for a while and continued, âRaeâRae, youâre different from your uncles. Iâm fine with them
not returning for the night. Iâm not worried even if they donât come home. for half a month. However,
youâre a girl, so youâll be at a disadvantage. Therefore, itâs safer to stay at home.â
Rachel finally understood. It turned out that Old Mr. Johnson was concerned for her safety. He was
reminding her to be prudent regarding her sexual life.
She cleared her throat. âGrandpa, I only moved out for work. But I do, in fact, have a boyfriend. I know
how to take care of myself, though. So you donât have to worry about me. Rachel was a little
uncomfortable.
âWho is he? How old is he? Where is he from?â Old Mr. Johnson was very curious.
Rachel saw how nervous Old Mr. Johnson was being and felt that it was not the right time. to announce
Davidâs existence.
Using her peripheral vision, she glanced under the desk. âIâll introduce him to you
the time comes.â
Hearing this, Old Mr. Johnsonâs expression darkened. He looked at Rachel with a complicated look.
