Chapter 129
Betrayal At The Altar (Rachel and David)
Just as she thought she was going to fall, David Jones suddenly appeared and wrapped his
arms around her waist.
âAre you okay?â
Rachel Grey replied, âIâm fine.â
âIâm sorry, did she bump into you?â The little girlâs father looked at Rachel apologetically.
Rachel shook her head.
The girlâs father smiled and quickly approached the little girl. He squatted down and reprimanded her
seriously, âNancy, didnât I tell you not to run around outdoors? Daddy will never take you out again if
you donât listen.â
âDaddy, I was wrongâ The little girl tugged at her fatherâs sleeve coquettishly, blinking her big round
eyes. âDaddy, I want to eat cotton candy. Can you buy me cotton candy?â
The father couldnât stand his daughterâs loveliness, and his serious expression softened slightly. âThen
promise me you wonât run around in the future.â
âOkay.â
The moment the little girl got the cotton candy, she crawled into her fatherâs arms and kissed him.
This scene struck a chord with Rachel. A hint of sadness flashed across her eyes.
When she came back to her senses, she realized that the man who had been by her side. had
disappeared.
She looked around and saw David Jones walking towards her, holding cotton candy.
Even in the noisy crowd, he was still that unique existence.
Try it.â
It turned out that he noticed Rachelâs intent gaze on the cotton candy, so he specially went to buy it for
her.
Rachel hesitated for a while before taking the cotton candy and licking it.
The cotton candy was very sweet.
It was so sweet that Rachel felt a hint of sweetness seep into her heart.
âWhat were you thinking just now?â David asked.
He did not forget the sadness that flashed in the depths of her eyes just now, nor did he ignore the
bitter smile on her face.
Rachelâs grip on the cotton candy stick tightened, and there was a hint of coldness in her eyes. âI
thought of some unworthy people and some unworthy things.â
Just forget about them if theyâre not worth it.â David reached out and held her cool hand. âNever torture
yourself for someone elseâs mistake.â

Chapter 129
A smile bloomed on Rachelâs lips. She raised her eyebrows, showing off her unique charm. âHow can
you be sure I was not the one in the wrong but others?â
âYour happiness is far more important than what is right or wrong.â
The gentle evening breeze, coupled with the manâs husky voice, caused waves of uncontrollable
ripples in her heart.
Rachelâs eyes flickered and she sighed softly. âMy mother passed away when I was very young. Later,
my father remarried. It was also on that day that I found out that I had a younger sister who was three
months younger than me. Everything was fine at the beginning, but later onâ¦â
Her body was a little stiff and tense. She clenched her fists tightly, her nails digging into her palms as
she tried to control her surging emotions.
Even so, her voice still trembled slightly. âLater, when maternal grandfather found out I was not doing
well, he brought me back to the Johnson family. I lost contact with them, but even if I decided not to
think about these people or such things, I would still inadvertently think of the past.â
David listened quietly, his face expressionless. His gaze landed on Rachelâs pale face; the emotions
within his black eyes became even more unfathomable.
He did not miss her hand that was gradually turning colder, nor her trembling voice.
It must have been a particularly painful memory.
So much so that she didnât have the courage to look back.
He sensed the woman trembling, so he stopped in his tracks. He carefully pulled her into his arms.
âIâm sorry Iâm late and didnât appear by your side in time, but you donât have to bear the storm alone in
the future.â
Rachelâs pupils constricted as she suddenly tightened her grip on the manâs suit jacket.
Suddenly, a gentle smile appeared on her lips.
Rachel had taken an enormous bet with herself. She wanted to entrust her life to him. She bet that he
would accompany her for the rest of her life.
