Chapter 133
Betrayal At The Altar (Rachel and David)
âAnd youâll be my wife soon.â David said, âItâs just a matter of time.â
Mrs. Brown was dazed when she saw Rachel. Then, she nodded respectfully at Rachel. âHello, Miss
Grey.â
âHello.â Rachel nodded slightly. She felt a little restless when she met Mrs. Brownâs meaningful gaze.
Mrs. Brown must have seen David hold her hand.
Rachel struggled to shake off Davidâs hand and walked ahead, returning to the room.
Once she was back in her room, she took off her coat and did some stretches. Then she prepared to
take a bath in the bathroom.
When she opened the wardrobe, she was surprised to find that the clothes inside were neatly arranged
without any tags removed. They were all the latest styles of the season.
All of them were according to her preferences,
This stirred her up. Rachel was incredibly moved.
She took a set of clothes and went into the bathroom.
Meanwhile, David was sitting on the leather sofa in the study.
The dim light made his defined facial features stand out even more, and he exuded a cold
aura.
âInvestigate the matter. I want to know whoâs playing with fire.â
His unfeeling voice was filled with hostility and threat. It made Eddie Brookâs heart skip at beat. Eddie
bowed respectfully even though David could not see him at all. âYes, Mr. Jones.â

Chapter 133
After Rachel Grey came out of the bathtub, she noticed that the phone on the table had been vibrating.
She walked over to answer the call.
It was from Lucas Johnson.
âOh my god, youâve finally picked up the call.â Lucas heaved a sigh of relief.
Rachel did not know what had happened on Lucasâ end.
âWhat happened?â Rachel asked casually while drying her hair.
âI went to Uncle Adrianâs apartment and realized you werenât home. I called you, but you didnât answer.
I thought something had happened to you.â Lucas paused. âBy the way, the things I bought for you are
in the fridge.â
Rachel said, âHelp me search for a black car with a license plate number ending with digits 256.â
Lucas fell silent, but Rachel could vaguely hear him typing rapidly on the keyboard. After a moment, he
finally said, âThis is a branded car, but according to the information given, this car should have been
scrapped.â
He paused for a moment. âWhy are you investigating this?â
A cold glint flashed through her eyes. âHelp me keep an eye on Mr. Griffin.â
âAre you worried that those people might have seen what happened when you were at the Smith
family?â Lucas asked.
Rachel was a little surprised. âYou know?â
âI donât have the time to deal with that bunch of trash from the Smith family.â Lucas only had disdain for
them. âI heard that Olivia Cruise, the idiot caused trouble and ran to the antique dealing street with the
fake she bought to get a refund. She even threatened to destroy their shop. Do you think the other
party will let the matter go?â
Rachel thought it was not surprising that Olivia Cruise would be called an idiot after she heard what
had happened.
There were unspoken rules in every field, and there were many for antique dealing. One of them was
that refunds were strictly not allowed.
If one had purchased an authentic antique, then one would profit from it. However, they could only
consider themselves unlucky if they purchased a fake.
Olivia had clearly broken the rules.
Rachel was about to say something when someone knocked on the door.
She turned around and opened the door. Mrs. Brown was standing outside.
âMiss Grey, Mr. Jones specially instructed me to bring some warm milk for you.â
Lucas heard Mrs. Brownâs voice. âRachel Grey, itâs late now. Why arenât you home? Where are you?â
he demanded.

Rachel said expressionlessly, âIâm at a friendâs house.â
âFriend? Who? Do I know him?â
âYouâre too noisy.â
With that, Rachel hung up the phone.
Lucas was speechless as well.
She must have felt guilty since she didnât answer his question!
Meanwhile, Rachel noticed a cup of coffee on Mrs. Brownâs tray. âIs this for David?â
âThatâs right,â Mrs. Brown said. âDrinking coffee late at night is bad for the body. As servants, we donât
dare persuade him, but health is always more important than work. Donât you think so, Miss Grey?â
Rachel pursed her lips. âWhy donât you⦠change the coffee to milk and Iâll bring it over for you?â
âThatâs great.â Mrs. Brown quickly replaced the drink and handed them to Rachel as if afraid Rachel
might go back on her words. âMiss Grey, sorry to trouble you.â
Rachel felt like she had been tricked. âNot at all.â
She walked to Davidâs room and knocked on the door before gently pushing it open.
The man looked up. His expression was cold and indifferent, and his gaze was exceptionally piercing.
If looks could kill, one would have died umpteen when faced with his daggerâlike stares.
His gaze was just like when she entered the room when he had a fever that day. It was boneâchilling.
It was not intentional, but it made Rachel feel suffocating.
She tightened her grip on the tray. She exhaled softly and walked in.
The moment he saw Rachel, the cold expression on his face was replaced by a warm
smile.
Rachel watched as he closed the document file and casually placed it aside. âAm I disturbing you?â
âYes,â David answered bluntly.
Rachel pursed her lips in embarrassment. âIâll leave after putting down these.â
She went to the table, set the milk on his desk, and turned to leave.
Just as she placed her hand on the door handle, a palm brushed past the hair near her nape the
moment the door opened. Then Rachel was pressed against the door.
