Chapter 143
Betrayal At The Altar (Rachel and David)
Olivia gripped the steering wheel tightly with both hands. She looked around and drove carefully.
She was now even more certain that Rachel must be hiding an unspeakable secret. Otherwise, she
wouldnât have tried to shake her off and come here.
After the car drove for a distance, she saw Rachelâs car.
After hesitating for a while, she got out of the car with her phone and quietly followed her. At the same
time, she turned on her phone and prepared to take a photo of Rachel if she discovered her secret
later, and then report her immediately.
On the other side, Rachel arrived at the unfinished building and managed to find the kidnappersâ hiding
place with ease.
There were one fat and one thin man cooking some sausages in a small iron pot.
The thin man muttered, âDo you think that woman will really send 50 million USD to the pier?â
The fat man turned his head and looked at Mr. Griffin, who was tied up. âI donât think so! How can an
old man be worth so much money!â
âBoss has really gone overboard. Heâs asking for too much. Isnât he afraid that heâll run away?â
When Mr. Griffin saw Rachelâs figure, he immediately became so excited that his eyes filled with tears.
His hands and feet were tied and thrown to the ground. His mouth was still sealed with black tape. At
this moment, he was all curled up on the ground like a big worm, mumbling something indistinctly.
âWhat are you shouting for!?!â The fatty kicked him impatiently.
When he turned around and saw Rachel, he was so frightened that his entire body trembled. âYou!
Who are you!?!â
Rachel looked up and glanced at him expressionlessly. She walked straight to Mr. Griffin and pulled off
the tape on his mouth.
Mr. Griffin moved his mouth and craned his neck to look outside. Then, he stared at Rachel in disbelief.
âYou came alone?!â
âIf we call the police, they might kill you,â Rachel said.
Mr. Griffin was speechless.
If that was the case, then charging over alone was no different from him getting killed!
âTell me, what happened?â Rachel raised her chin at the fat and thin men standing opposite her.
Mr. Griffinâs eyes glistened guiltily as he stammered, âRemember that painting Iâve been investigating
for the past few days? These people said that they had clues, so I followed them here. Then, I was
kidnappedâ¦â

He noticed Rachelâs meaningful gaze and sighed. âWell, as you know, since Vinceâs lair was wiped out
three years ago, his whereabouts have been uncertain. Thatâs why I set up a bountyâ¦â
He had initially planned to win by surprise, but who knew he would end up digging his grave?
The two of them chatted as if no one else was around, making the kidnappers feel insulted. In
exasperation, one of them fished out the dagger hidden at his waist and wiped the blade of the dagger
with his fingertips. âWhat are you two talking about?! Do you really think we donât exist?!â
âThese two are the ones.â Mr. Griffin raised his chin slightly, indicating for Rachel to look over. âThe
imitation painting was sold by them.â
Rachel looked at the thin man with the dagger and squinted slightly.
The thin man turned his head and spat, his eyes gleaming with a fierce and cold glint. âCut the crap. If
you know whatâs good for you, hurry up and surrender. Otherwise, donât blame my dagger for being
blind!â
âIf you hurt me, you wonât be able to escape!â Rachel looked at him expressionlessly, her eyes
flickering with a cold light.
The thin man chuckled. âThereâs a path to heaven, but you chose not to take it. Thereâs no door to hell,
but you insist on charging in. In this case, donât blame me!â
As soon as he finished speaking, he held the dagger and stabbed it straight at Rachel.
