Chapter 153
Betrayal At The Altar (Rachel and David)
âDidnât I tell you not to mention Rachel Grey in front of outsiders? Did you ignore my words?!â Mrs.
Smith glared at Jane.
Because of Rachelâs existence, she had always been unable to hold her head up high in front of the
other wealthy ladies.
She thought that she would be able to hold her head high after Rachel left the Smith family, but she did
not expect her life to still be unsatisfactory.
The name âRachel Greyâ was like a lingering haze that loomed over the Smith family.
âBut itâs different this time!â Jane blinked, her eyes filled with a gloating joy. âSomeone exposed that
sheâs suspected of illegal transactions. Iâm afraid she wonât be able to turn things around this time!â
Originally, Janeâs heart had always been filled with hatred for that slap in the hospital. Later on, she
was grounded because of Rachel.
She hated Rachel to the core and cursed Rachel to hell every day.
Now that she saw that Rachel was going to suffer, she was naturally overjoyed.
âIllegal transactions?â When Mrs. Smith heard these words, she could not help but show a strong
interest on her face.
She took out her phone and looked at the unsightly comments in the comments section with interest.
The mocking smile on her face intensified. âIn the end, youâre just an unpresentable country bumpkin.
Do you think you can do whatever you want just because you have control over Glamour Pavilion? In
the end, someone still managed to get hold of evidence against you!â
She wanted to see what right Rachel had to be arrogant now!
âWhat evidence?â Old Mr. Smithâs voice suddenly sounded.
Mrs. Smithâs eyes flickered slightly. âNothing.â
Although Old Mr. Smith was advanced in years and did not pay much attention to things on the
Internet, he could sense something unusual from Mrs. Smithâs sarcastic tone.
âWhatâs wrong with RaeâRae?â He looked at Rianne, who was sitting on the sofa. His turbid eyes
darkened slightly, revealing a hint of
intimidation.
âWell, Rachel was arrested by the police because sheâs suspected of taking part in illegal transactions.â
Jane was still brooding over Old Mr. Smithâs beating. Her tone was inevitably a little harsh. âGrandpa,
you have to be careful! Perhaps the pocket watch she gave you previously was one of the stolen
goods!â
âWhat illegal transaction? What stolen goods?â Old Mr. Smith could not help but frown.
Jane looked a little smug. âYou donât know yet, do you? She was caught by the police when she met
with the scammers today. Currently, the police have already filed a case for investigation. Now, thereâs
a huge stir on the Internet, and it has attracted a lot of attention. I reckon that thereâs a high chance that
she wonât be able to make a comeback this time. However, at least she has found someone to rely on
for the rest of her life, lest you keep worrying about her having no one to rely on in Seaxas.â
Old Mr. Smith walked to the sofa and sat down. He took out his reading glasses and looked at his
phone.
Looking at his serious expression, Mrs. Smith, who had been silent all this while, said, âDad, if you ask
me, youâre just making things difficult for yourself. All these years, sheâs been living off of us and weâve
already treated her as well as we can. Donât say that we have let her down again in the future. After all,
she was the one who took the initiative to break up with Louis back then. She even pretended to be
generous and refused to accept Louisâs compensation.â
âFortunately, she has severed ties with our family now. Otherwise, wouldnât our family be implicated by
her and suffer with her!?! Since she was caught by the police this time, her crime is most likely set in
stone. Donât mention inviting her to the anniversary celebration again. Sheâll be a disgrace to the Smith
family!â
Upon hearing Mrs. Smithâs words, Old Mr. Smithâs expression turned slightly sullen. âEven if you look
down on her background, donât forget that if it werenât for her help, the Smith family wouldnât have
made it this far! She has to attend the anniversary celebration!â
Hearing this, Mrs. Smith looked down to hide the coldness in her eyes.
