Chapter 220
Betrayal At The Altar (Rachel and David)
On the other end of the phone, Lucas finally understood what the saying âOnly women and smallâ
minded men are difficult to deal withâ meant.
âI want it!â Met with Rachelâs total control, Lucasâs attitude was sincere. He lowered his head and
admitted his mistake without pausing. âItâs fine if I donât want the respect others give to me, but I canât
refuse the respect given by our Miss Grey. Who are you? Youâre the Johnson familyâs proper little
princess! Itâs my blessing that youâre willing to give me a chance to help you! Itâs my supreme honor!â
Faced with this excessive praise, Rachel sighed from the bottom of her heart. âYouâre worth teaching
yet.â
Lucas was speechless once more.
He suspected that this girl was trying to manipulate him!
âSame rules as always. Weâll keep this between us.
âDonât worry!â Lucas patted his chest and promised. âBut letâs make it clear first. If you truly get
wronged or bullied, I canât just sit back and do nothing.â
Hearing this, amusement seemed to flash past Rachelâs eyes. âWith my vengeful personality, who
could bully me?â
After hanging up, Rachel picked up her fork.
When she looked up, she happened to meet Davidâs teasing eyes. Her eyelashes trembled in panic.
âWhy are you looking at me like that?â
âIâm very happy to get to know you again,â David said as he stood up and handed the peeled prawns to
Rachel.
Rachel could not help a blush spreading across her fair face. She asked, âDo you think Iâm too
unreasonable?â
âAre you?â David smiled faintly. âI love you. Whether itâs good or bad things, I love them all as long as
they come from you.â
Hearing the manâs sudden expression of love, Rachelâs heart skipped a beat, and then it sped up
uncontrollably.
She lowered her head to hide the blush on her face and silently ate the dish
in her bowl.
âYou really donât need my help?â David asked.
Rachel shook her head. âI can handle it.â
âThen Iâll give you my bottom line.â David took out a tissue and slowly wiped the oil stains on his fingers
away. âIf you suffer any sort of loss, or if anyone. bullies you, I donât mind expelling the Smith family
from Seaxas!â
His casual tone was filled with insufferable arrogance and an unrestrained
sense of dominance.
Rachel looked up at him.
The manâs dark and deep eyes were like endless black holes, or an abyss filled with corpses.
The moment their eyes met, it sent shivers down her spine and inexplicably made her feel like giving in.
For some reason, the warning Lucas gave Rachel suddenly appeared in her
mind.
âI donât know him. Iâve only heard some rumors about him. Itâs said that he comes from a country that
we canât reach. That place exists independently and doesnât belong to any country or organization in
this worldâ¦.
âRaeâRae, stay away from him. Heâs not a good personâ¦â
Even though Lucasâs warning had always been engraved in Rachelâs heart, how could she restrain her
heart from falling further into love when she was faced with such a person who doted on and indulged
her all the time?
Her eyes were fixed on Davidâs exquisite face.
Caught off guard, Rachel blurted out, âDavid, are you a good person?â
When David heard this, a hint of gloominess flashed across his dark eyes. âThat depends on what kind
of classification you have for good and bad.â
He put down the cup in his hand and stared at Rachel with a burning gaze. His eyes were filled with a
calm sort of malice. âWhen a good person makes a mistake, people will say that his true colors have
been revealed. When a bad person does a good deed, he will be hailed as turning over a new leaf. So
whatâs the distinction between good and bad?â
His voice was low and slow, conveying a lethal danger.
