Chapter 226
Betrayal At The Altar (Rachel and David)
Chapter 226 Higher-Upsâ Mistake?
After Louisâ call was hung up, his expression suddenly became extremely gloomy.
Louisâ assistant, who was sitting in the front row, held his breath instinctively and tried his best to make
himself inconspicuous.
Since Miss Grey left the Smith family, her attitude toward Mr. Smith had been terrible.
And even stranger, ever since then, the Smith family had encountered trouble after trouble. They had
not had a day of peace.
Miss Grey refused to see Mr. Smith now. It was obvious that she still hated Mr. Smith.
Louisâ assistant looked at Louisâ expression and was downcast for a long time. Then, he asked
gingerly, âMr. Smith, why donât we try our luck by taking the route back to Miss Greyâs house?â
âDo you know where she lives?â Louis looked at his assistant coldly.
Louisâ assistant was startled and stammered, âI donât knowâ¦â
âThat wouldâve been an impossible feat,â he thought.
After Miss Grey left Smith Group, it was as if she had vanished. No one even knew her whereabouts,
let alone hear any news about her.
Louis sighed faintly and raised his hand to massage his temples. âGo to Johnson Corporation.â
Louis guessed that Rachel must be in Johnson Corporation now. Otherwise, Rachel could not have
come and left as she pleased and eaten with Linda.
As the car drove slowly, Louisâ phone suddenly rang. It was a call from the bank president.
âMr. Smith.â
âMr. White.â Louis asked humbly, âWas the loan that we previously applied for approved?â
Hearing Louisâ words, the person on the other end fell into a short silence. It was as if he found this
topic rather difficult to broach.
Mr. White pondered for a moment and said tentatively, âWell, Mr. Smith, after
the higherâups reviewed the materials you submitted, they declined the loan. Why donât you try to
submit your loan application to another bank?â
âIt wasnât approved?â Louis frowned. His handsome face seemed to be shrouded with coldness. âDid
the higherâups make a mistake?â
âIn the past, every loan from Smith Group had been approved by this bank. The materials and loan
applications would be reviewed and approved very quickly. Why was the loan declined this time?â Louis
wondered.
âMr. Smith, I can understand your feelings.â Mr. White comforted Louis. âTo be honest, Iâve asked the
higherâups. Theyâre not targeting you alone. Recently, the higherâups have issued new rules and
modified the policies. Theyâve judged the size of your company and the loan you applied for to be highâ
risk, so they rejected your application.â
When Louis heard this, the expression on his face remained grim. His frown. deepened.
After a long time, Louis said calmly, âI understand. Thank you for your trouble during this period.â
After hanging up the phone, Louis secretly gritted his teeth and endured the anger swirling in his chest.
âWhat is going on?â Louis wondered.
âPreviously, the loan approval process had been exceptionally smooth. Why is it stuck at the last step
this time?
âCould it be that the Johnson family had taken action?
âHowever, if it were really the Johnson family who did it, their punishment
wouldnât have been so mild.
âBut no matter what, the most important thing now is to find Rachel and try to appease the anger in her
heart.â
When the car was heading towards Johnson Corporation, Louis happened to see Rachel preparing to
get into a car and leave.
Louis threw caution to the wind. He rolled down the window and shouted, âRachel!â
Hearing Louisâ voice, Rachelâs movements paused slightly.
Rachel narrowed her eyes and looked at Louis, who had opened the car door and was rushing towards
her.
David, who was sitting in the car, saw Louis walking over quickly. Davidâs
eyes darkened and were shrouded with coldness.
âGive me a moment,â Rachel bent over and said to David.
