Chapter 238
Betrayal At The Altar (Rachel and David)
Chapter 238 Deep Interest
After Rachel hung up the phone, she could not help but think about what kind of birthday gift she
should prepare for Eleanor.
Her aunt, Eleanor, was born in the Page family. She was the eldest daughter of the Page family.
Charlie had always adhered to the principle of giving his daughter a
comfortable life while treating his son not so well. Hence, Eleanor always got
the best things when it came to food, clothing, accommodation, and transportation.
However, she did not become pampered or develop a domineering and unruly personality.
On the contrary, she was a person who would help when she saw injustice, and she abhorred evil.
However, ever since she married into the Johnson family, she restrained herself and took care of her
husband and children in peace. Later on, she treated Rachel as her own daughter and doted on Rachel
even more than Lucas.
Back then, when Rachel did not hesitate to turn against the Johnson family for Louis, Eleanor was the
only one who stood on her side and supported her in pursuing true love.
After that, in the three years that Rachel and the Johnson family had cut ties, her aunt Eleanor had
asked her out for dinner and chatted with her more than once. Eleanor had even used her own private
savings to support Rachel.
In the end, Rachel was worried that Eleanor would be angered by her maternal grandfather and Uncle
Tom, so she ruthlessly rejected her auntâs good intentions.
Now that Rachel thought about it, she felt that she was really stupid back then.
For someone who was not worth it, she had let down the person who truly doted on her.
Rachel sighed slightly. She took out her phone and dialed a string of numbers.
After the call was picked up, she heard a calm and respectful middleâaged
manâs voice. âMiss Grey.â
âDarcy, can you see if there are any rare items at the recent auction?â Rachel asked.
Darcy was Rachelâs private butler. He had been in charge of managing the assets under Rachelâs
name and various investments over the years.
He also paid attention to all kinds of antiques worth collecting at the major auctions.
Hearing her words, Darcy seemed to have been prepared. âIâve paid attention to all the recent auctions.
There are no cultural relics worth collecting for the time being. Most of them are imitations. Thereâs not
much room for value addition.â
Rachel knew that Darcy had misunderstood. She smiled and explained, âItâs not for private use. Itâs for
someone else.â
Hearing this, Darcy pondered for a few seconds. âMost of the recent auction items are jewelry. Miss
Grey, if you donât mind, why donât you come to the scene to take a look?â
Rachel could know the underlying meaning in his words. She raised her eyebrows slightly. âCould it be
that thereâs something good?â
âNo matter what it is, itâs lucky to be able to catch your eye,â Darcy said. âTo be honest, thereâs
something that you should be interested in.â
âOh?â
âItâs a crown,â Darcy said unhurriedly. âAbout a few months ago, this crown began to be auctioned in
the various auction venues, but no one was willing to bid. It wasnât sold because the starting price was
said to be too high.â
âActually, such a situation is not uncommon at auctions. Itâs just that most people will choose to lower
the price when they know about it. But the price of this crown increases instead of decreasing. The
starting price directly increased from the previous 4 million dollars to 12 million dollars.â
When Rachel heard this, great interest appeared in her eyes.
Something that could be collected by the auction house must be something that was hard to get.
However, a crown that couldnât be sold appeared again and again. It really made people curious.
Rachel lowered her eyes. âWhen is the recent auction?â
âThe day after tomorrow,â Darcy said. âThereâs an Old Fashion Column in Fujiby. That crown will be
there then, too.â
âLeave me an invitation,â Rachel said and hung up.
