Chapter 281
Betrayal At The Altar (Rachel and David)
Chapter 281 Unbelievable
David had expected that the noise would attract Rachelâs attention. He had even thought of what to say
to pacify her.
To his surprise, Rachel chose not to say anything. âRemember to eat on time.â
âIâll be very busy for the next few days. I might not be able to read your phone messages. Donât worry.
Iâll get home as soon as I can.â
âOkay.â Rachel covered her face partially with the blanket. Only her eyes were visible.
âGood night.â
âGood night.â
After hanging up, Rachel lay on the bed and stared blankly at the ceiling.
She was certain that she was not hearing things when she heard someone asking for his life to be
spared.
However, she selfishly thought the other party must have committed an unpardonable sin to make
David deal with him so viciously.
That night, Rachel had a dream.
She was back to where she was that night five years ago, where the streets. were raining with bullets.
People were shouting in panic everywhere, and the
air was filled with the thick smell of blood.
However, she was resting peacefully in someoneâs embrace.
The man whispered in her ear, âDonât be afraidâ¦â
In the extremely dim environment, Rachel could vaguely see the outline of
the manâs face.
She desperately wanted to see the manâs face clearly, but she could not.
Just then, her phone rang.
Rachel was rudely awakened from her dream.
Instinctively, she reached for the phone on the bedside table.
As soon as she picked up the phone, she heard Maryâs voice from the other end of the phone. âRaeâ
Rae, I need your help urgently!â
Rachel was woken up by Mary for a trivial matter. Soon, she found herself in a mall.
Mr. Zaneâs wife was hosting a charity ball on Friday night.
However, Mary had not found anything she fancied to wear to the ball. âDidnât you have one made in
Paris?â Rachel gave a huge yawn.
âThe shipment was delayed for some reason.â Mary looked at Rachelâs listless appearance and
suddenly became excited. Her eyes flickered with a knowing look. âDid you have a very intense battle
last night?â
Rachel glared at her angrily. âThanks to you, I stayed up all night to revise the draft design.â
Hearing her answer, Mary rolled her eyes. âYou got me excited for nothing.â âYouâve been quite wellâ
behaved recently.â Rachelâs lips curled into a
mischievous smile. âWhy havenât you been bringing your little brothers out for some fun lately?â
Mary blinked innocently. âRachel, Iâm a dignified young lady from a wealthy family. Iâm innocent, and my
feelings are as pure as snow. Donât slander me.â
Rachel forced a smile. âWhat nonsense! Anyone who hears this will find it unbelievable.â
As they spoke, the two of them walked into a clothing store.
Rachel crossed her arms and looked at the gowns in front of her disapprovingly.
Suddenly, she noticed a manâs suit created by an haute couture designer in the shop.
The black suit fabric had intricate embroideries of the sun, moon, and stars which looked very lifelike.
The design was subtle.
Davidâs face flashed across her mind as soon as she caught sight of the suit.
His calm and reserved temperament matched the suit very well.
They had known each other for so long, but Rachel had never given anything to David.
âMaâam, this is a limited edition set, and itâs the worldâs first batch. There is only one piece in Seaxas.â
The salesgirl smiled as she introduced the suit to
Rachel.
The design was unique, and Rachel felt that it would suit David.
âCan youâ¦â
âI want this!â Rachel heard the voice declare loudly from behind.
