Chapter 283
Betrayal At The Altar (Rachel and David)
Chapter 283 Look At The Mirror
Rachel quietly retracted her gaze and turned to look at the store manager. âIf everyone judges a book
by its cover like you, I think this mall in Times Square will close down in no time.â
Her words were filled with an overbearing aura.
âWhat do you mean by judging a book by its cover?â The store manager shook off Rachelâs hand
fiercely and looked at the latter with a mocking expression. âItâs obvious that you donât have much
money, yet youâre trying to intimidate me. Why donât you take a good look at yourself in the mirror?â
At the moment, the Smith family was a powerful family in Seaxas.
News of the marriage arrangement between the Cruise family and the Smith. family had spread like
wildfire. Everyone knew that Olivia was the future mistress of the Smith family.
Whether it was the Smith family, Jane Smith, or Louisâs fiancée, Olivia, they were not someone anyone
could afford to offend.
The store manager was used to seeing all kinds of rich people in her shop. She could tell at once if
they were from the nobility.
Looking at Rachel, who was not wearing anything valuable, the store manager was certain that she
was just a poor church mouse pretending to be wealthy.
She thought of Rachel as a gold digger who used her good looks to ensnare rich men.
She did not seem like she was from a wealthy family.
Rachel saw the contempt and disdain on the store managerâs face.
Her face was covered in a layer of frost. Her almondâshaped eyes narrowed slightly, and a sharp cold
light flashed across them.
Jane had been enraged ever since she saw Rachel behaving intimately with the billionaire at the
auction. She was waiting for a chance to teach Rachel a lesson.
Seeing that the store manager was mocking Rachel, she concurred, âRachel, donât think that you can
do anything you wish because youâre now the mistress of some rich man. If he can spend a lot of
money for you today, he
can do the same for other women in the future. If I were you, I wouldnât want to squander all my hardâ
earned money just to keep up with appearances.â
As Jane spoke, everyone looked at Rachel with disdain and disgust, as if she was a piece of trash.
Sensing everyoneâs gaze on Rachel, Jane gloated gleefully.
After waiting for Jane to finish saying what she wanted to say, Olivia stepped forward to stop her.
âJane, donât say any furtherâ¦â
âWhatâs wrong?â Janeâs arrogance now knew no limits. She refused to heed
Oliviaâs advice.
She turned to look at the store manager Vivian and said earnestly, âMiss, on account that weâve met a
few times, Iâll give you a piece of advice. Itâs best not to sell your clothes to her. Youâre lowering your
shopâs status by selling them to her.â
Of course, Vivian knew who she should sell the suit to.
No matter how stupid she was, she could not offend someone from the Smith family for a nobody.
Moreover, once she managed to sell the suit, she would not have to worry about that monthâs sale. She
would earn a big bonus.
âMiss Smith, youâre being too polite. You know that our shop has always targeted highâend customers.
How can someone like her deserve to wear the clothes in our shop?â The store manager smiled
obsequiously. âIâm sorry to make you wait so long. Iâll wrap up the suit for you now.â
The store manager walked forward, but Rachel stood in front of her.
The store manager looked at Rachel angrily. âAre you done? If you canât afford to buy anything, get out
of the way! Donât stop us from doing business.â
âWho said I canât afford to buy it?â Rachelâs lips curled into a faint smile, but her eyes remained cool.
âAre you going to disregard the principle of first come, first served and insist on selling it to her?â
