Chapter 400
Betrayal At The Altar (Rachel and David)
Chapter 400
Rachel stared at him without blinking for a moment. Suddenly, her red lips curled into a smile, and the
depths of her almondâshaped eyes flickered. âDavid, youâre really strangeâ¦â
He would never ask what had happened, but he could always see through her thoughts and easily
reveal her true emotions at this moment.
She thought that she had hidden it well, but every time she faced him, she was like a person with no
secrets.
Swallowing her sadness and the pain of her slightly twisting heart, she leaned forward against his
chest. âIâm fine. Really.â
However, Lilyâs appearance caught her off guard.
âIâll let you lean on my shoulder for a while.â David reached out and stroked her slender back as if he
was comforting an injured child.
In fact, from the moment Lily appeared, he had already sensed Rachelâs abnormality. However, as a
bystander, he could not empathize with her. All he could do was silently accompany her.
Rachel looked up at him. Her expression was calm, but there was a smile hidden in the corners of her
eyes. âJust for a while?â
âIf you want, you can do it for a lifetime.â
âNo regrets?â
âNo regrets!â David pulled her into his arms again and hugged her tightly. His deep and cold voice was
tinged with sexy laziness as it rang in her ears. âIâll be RaeâRaeâs man in this life, and I still love Raeâ
Rae after I die.â
Rachel leaned against his neck obediently and could not help but smile.
Her palm on his chest could clearly feel his vigorous and powerful heartbeat.
She had always thought that the appearance of David was a rose blooming in the desolation in her
heart.
However, now it seemed that he was not only the rose that lured her into love but also the antidote to
her salvation.
Ten minutes later, the two of them left the restaurant.
When they left, Hans and the others walked out of the private room opposite.
As he turned around, he inadvertently caught a glimpse of Rachelâs exceptionally eyeâcatching face
from the corner of his eye. He frowned imperceptibly.
Was that Rachel?
Why was she here?
His gaze turned and landed on David.
Who was this man?
As he was thinking, he heard Louis say, âMr. Grey, if thereâs nothing else, weâll take our leave first.â
âAlright.â Hans quickly came back to his senses and revealed a fake smile.
After sending off Louis, Hans looked at his daughter, Lily. âLily, what do you think of Mr. Smith?â
The meaning behind his words was selfâevident.
To be fair, Louisâs family background and appearance were indeed many times better than those
playboys who only enjoyed eating, drinking, and having fun.
Unfortunately, she was not interested in Louis.
âDad, Miss Cruise and Mr. Smith are about to get engaged,â Lily said. âAndâ¦â
She quickly glanced at Hans. âAnd I heard from Miss Cruise that Rachel had been in a relationship with
Mr. Smith for a period of time.â
Her words were ambiguous. Coupled with her obscure and complicated expression, it was easy for
Hans to think in the wrong direction.
Hans frowned and his expression darkened. âWhat a disgraceful b*stard! Sheâs really going to
embarrass our Grey family!â
If he had known that Rachel would become like this after leaving the Grey family, he would have frozen
her to death in that snowfield!
Lily and her mother, Rose, looked at each other silently.
âItâs getting late. Letâs go back early,â Rose spoke first.
Hans snorted and left.
After they got into the car, Lily hesitated again and again. She couldnât help but say, âDad, Miss Cruise
said that next month will be her birthday party. At that time, she will announce the engagement of the
Cruise family and the Smith family in public. She hopes that I can attend on time.â
âThis is a good thing.â The expression on Hansâs face softened a little. He smiled and stroked her head
lovingly. He said unhurriedly, âWhen the time comes, Daddy and Mommy will with you.â
Facing this obedient, docile, and outstanding daughter, he doted on her from the bottom of his heart.
Lily happily threw herself into his arms. âDaddy, I knew you dote on me the most.â
