Chapter 406
Betrayal At The Altar (Rachel and David)
Chapter 406
Right now, Old Mr. Smithâs mind was filled with the news that Old Mr. Johnson had allowed Rachel to
join the Chamber of Commerce.
From the way the two of them were talking, it did not seem like they had known each other for a short
time.
The Johnson family was the richest in S*s, and Old Mr. Johnson had a granddaughter who had a
different surname⦠Could it be Rachel?
Old Mr. Smith always felt that Rachel had something to do with the Johnson family.
He hoped that he was just overthinkingâ¦
Seeing that Louis had yet to get up and leave, he frowned slightly. âIs there anything else?â
âIâm still worried that Rachel would do something evil with the recording.â Louis said.
Old Mr. Smithâs eyes darkened. âYouâre really getting worse! There are many ways to destroy
something in this world! Do you want me to teach you one by one?â
Hearing this, Louis instantly understood. âI understand, butâ¦â
âWhatâs wrong now?â Old Mr. Smithâs eyes were filled with impatience.
Louis hesitated for half a second. âItâs about the Cruise family.â
Old Mr. Smith pondered. âThe future of the Smith family is unpredictable now. Although itâs a little risky
to work with the Cruise family, itâs still an additional help. However, as for the marriage⦠we have to
consider it at length. Once the engagement is set, the Smith family and the Cruise family will be closely
linked.â
Louis did not say anything, but he knew what Old Mr. Smith was worried about.
âWe canât rely on Rachel anymore. Why donât you calm down and think about what else the Cruise
family is worth using?â Old Mr. Smith stood up and slowly walked into the house. âOnly by making the
best use of it can you show your true ability.â
Louis was stunned as he stared blankly at Old Mr. Smithâs departing
figure.
After Rachel sent Old Mr. Johnson to the car, she went to Stellar Corporation alone.
The journey was smooth and unobstructed, which surprised Rachel.
She went to Davidâs office and sat on the sofa. âYou knew I was coming?â There was a hint of
condemnation in her tone.
Eddie, who was reporting his work, put down the document in his hand sensibly and silently left the
office.
David stood up and walked toward Rachel.
He stretched out his arm and hooked it around Rachelâs waist. He lifted her up and held her in his
arms.
He looked at Rachel, his deep eyes filled with warmth. âWhat do you want to ask?â
Rachel looked at him from the corner of her eyes. She looked at his dark and deep eyes and cleared
her throat. âHow did our engagement come about?â
Why had she never heard anyone mention it before?
âDidnât Old Mr. Johnson tell you?â Davidâs well-defined fingers played with her soft hand carefully.
Rachel shook her head. âGrandpa said that he didnât know the details either.â
To Rachel, this engagement came out of nowhere and confused her.
Although her maternal grandfather did not say it, she could sense that her maternal grandfather
seemed to have expected this day.
Davidâs lips curled into a faint smile. His deep and magnetic voice was. neither warm nor hot. âYouâll be
mine sooner or later. Why should you care about these things?â
âOf course I care.â Rachel looked at David with a serious expression. âAs the person involved, I actually
donât know about my engagement. If I hadnât accidentally bumped into you today, Iâm afraid I would
have been kept in the dark for a long time.â
At this point, she suddenly thought of something. âYou didnât plan this from the beginning, did you?â
He knew her identity and deliberately approached her.
âMeeting you was an accident.â
