Chapter 481
Betrayal At The Altar (Rachel and David)
Chapter 481
âItâs fine, Miss Jones.â Old Mr. Johnson said neutrally before continuing, âWeâve just started as well.
You are welcome to join us.â
Marina raised her hand and gestured for the waiter to bring her a new set of cutlery.
She casually picked up a napkin and slowly spread it out in front of her before saying, âI heard that you
were hospitalized not too long ago but now it seems that youâve recovered pretty well.â
When Old Mr. Johnson heard this, a dark glint flashed across his turbid eyes.
In order to avoid unnecessary suspicion and prevent the other employees of the company from causing
trouble, Old Mr. Johnson made sure that the news that he had been hospitalized had not been spread.
Nobody else knew about it besides his own family members and Old Mr. Shain.
However, Marina seemed to know about it clearly. Not only that, she undoubtedly announced it in front
of everyone so that she could flaunt how powerful she was.
âThe Johnson family has dominated Seaxas for so many years and of course, your contributions are
indispensable. However, now that youâre getting old, itâs inevitable that youâre not as powerful as youâd
like to be. So why donât you just step down early? I bet everyone else will praise you for having great
foresight.â
Marinaâs tone was very nonchalant but her words were as sharp and cold as icicles. The atmosphere of
the whole dining hall turned cold instantly.
No one dared to say a word. The younger onesâ eyes were mixed with gloating smiles as they secretly
sized up Old Mr. Johnsonâs expression.
The Johnson family had dominated Seaxas for many years. They were like a small kingdom as their
wealth and power grew larger and larger.
Although nobody else could catch up to them, many others yearned to replace them.
Some have even hoped that one day, the Johnson family would fall from their position and lose
everything.
Marinaâs words undoubtedly pointed out the unrealistic thoughts that many others had.
âWho do you think should take Old Mr. Johnsonâs place then, Miss Jones?â Rachel placed her arm on
the table. Her slender fingers caressed the silver knife as her red lips curled into a perfect smile. There
was an imperceptible coldness in the depths of her almond-shaped eyes.
Marina glanced at Rachel and replied, âBeing the richest is nothing more than a title. Although the
Johnson family holds that title now, it might still fall to the
Justin family or the Cruise family tomorrow, right?â
If Marinaâs previous words were more indirect, then what she just said straightforwardly told everyone
that it was time for the richest family in Seaxas to change.
Rachel held the knife in her hand and gently moved it up and down.
The tip of the knife shone coldly under the light of the crystal lamp.
However, this was far inferior to the coldness in her eyes.
She finally understood why everyone referred to Marina Jones as an âold hag. This woman was really
extremely unlikeable.
Lucas Johnson, who was sitting not far away, was on tenterhooks.
He was afraid that Rachel would turn her wrist in the next instant and stab Marinaâ fiercely with the
knife in her hand.
Jimmy studied Rachelâs facial expression.
Her eyes were lowered so he couldnât see the expression in her eyes. However, the aura around her
was not her usual elegance and indifference. Instead, she exuded a bloodthirsty ruthlessness.
The aura she exuded was somewhat similar to Davidâs.
âYou have no right to throw a fit in Seaxas!â A deep and cold voice resounded.
Everyoneâs eyes were immediately glued to the entrance.
From afar, a tall figure could be seen coming nearer.
The man was wearing a well-tailored black suit. His facial features were exquisite and well-defined, and
he gave off a natural sense of nobility. The pressure he exuded was suffocating.
He walked over with his head held high. His footsteps were powerful and perfectly demonstrated his
superciliousness.
The moment everyone realized it was David Jones, their hearts ski pped a beat and their expressions
changed.
No one expected him to be here!
