Chapter 594
Betrayal At The Altar (Rachel and David)
Chapter 594
âAh-
The entire place was filled with the panicked screams of the guests.
The sudden darkness sent everyone into a frenzy.
âWhatâs going on?â
âWhy did the power suddenly go out?â
Without the gift of sight, the people pushed and shoved each other, desperate to flee the darkness.
Suddenly, someone in the crowd pushed Rachel. Wearing high heels, she was thrown off balance and
fell directly in a certain direction.
At this moment, an arm reached around her waist.
Before she could react, the man swiftly wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her into his
embrace.
âLet go!â Rachel frowned slightly, a hostile hint of coldness flashed in her deep eyes.
The next moment, she bent her arm and tried to elbow the manâs waist heavily.
However, the man saw it coming. He grabbed her arm and pinned it behind her back. He forcefully
pulled her into his arms again and said, âHow did you know Iâm not him?â
The manâs languid and seductive voice echoed in Rachelâs cars.
Rachel smiled. âWhy donât you guess?â
Before she finished speaking, she suddenly raised her foot and stomped hard down on the manâs foot.
The sharp heels crushed onto the manâs foot and made him gasp in pain. However, he did not mind it
and said, âCome with me, the easy way or the hard way, your choice.â
âWhat if I refuse?â A hint of hostility emerged in Rachelâs cold voice.
A low and wicked chuckle came out of Ronnie Diekensâs throat as he tightened his arms around her
waist and said, âYou wonât have the chance to.â
The manâs tone exuded his arrogance.
âWeâll see about that,â Rachel said and suddenly raised her leg and kicked the manâs inner thigh.
Out of instinct and reflexes, Ronnie let go of her.
Seizing this opportunity, Rachel quickly broke free and fled.
In the darkness, someone accidentally bumped into the champagne tower table.
With the sound of glass shattering, sharp glass shards and wine splashed everywhere.
Rachel, in her high heels, slipped and fell hard.
High heels were indeed beautiful, but sometimes they could be a real hindrance.
For example, now.
If she fell onto the ground, even if she was lucky enough to not have her pretty skin destroyed by the
shattered glass, she would be tr ampl**d to death.
Fortunately, Rachel fell straight into a warm and solid chest.
The cool wooden fragrance rushed into Rachelâs nose and swept over her heart, bringing her an
unprecedented sense of peace.
Her hand clutched the manâs lapels. âDavid?â
âIâm here.â David leaned over and kissed the top of her head, his arms encircling her waist and holding
her tightly in his embrace.
He moved forward cautiously while protecting Rachel, using his body to shield her from danger.
Rachel held his waist tightly. At this moment, her heart was filled with emotions that would certainly last
for quite a long while.
How could she possibly remain unmoved in the face of this man who protected her like a treasure in
every way imaginable?
He possessed more than enough qualities and there were too many reasons for her to fall for him.
At this instant, Rachel felt that even if there was a seemingly bottomless pit before them, she would
have enough courage to unhesitatingly plunge right into it with David.
Just as this thought settled in Rachelâs mind, the power came back on.
The sudden bright and dazzling light was so intense that the people found it difficult to keep their eyes.
open and subconsciously raised their hands to block it.
Rachel closed her eyes for a while. When she finally adjusted to the light and opened her eyes, she
subconsciously looked around in search of Ronnie Dick**ens.
However, there was no trace of him anywhere at the scene. It was as if everything that had happened
earlier was merely her imagination.
âMiss Grey, are you hurt?â Late to the scene, Darcy arrived and asked, checking if Rachel was fine.
Rachel shook her head. âCheck the surveillance cameras nearby.â
The blackout and Ronnieâs sudden appearance were definitely not a sheer coincidence!
Darcy nodded, âOkayâ
Although the staff quickly cleaned up the scene as quickly as they could, it did not bring the people
back into the mood they were in earlier.
The elegant and slow dance music started playing again. Rachel and David were about to leave the
dance floor.
âDonât touch me!â Cindyâs voice suddenly appeared from behind.
She glared at the staff at the scene angrily. âThis is a âThe Raimant Collectionâ haute couture gown,
crafted by the mysterious designer Queen. This is the only one in the world, and now itâs broken, which
one of you will compensate me for it?â
The staff members all had troubled expressions.
At this moment, a woman in a uniform walked forward. âMiss Tory, I apologize for our mistake affecting
your mood. However, judging by the condition of the torn part of the dress, itâs clear that this damage
was not accidental but deliberate.â
âWhat do you mean it wasnât an accident but deliberate Cindyâs eyes narrowed, filled with anger. âAre
you implying that I intentionally tore my own dress?â
The woman calmly responded, âNot exactly. Itâs just that your figure is quite curvy, which led to the
dress. being torn.â
However, before she could finish speaking, Cindy suddenly raised her hand and slapped her hard in
the face. âBit**h! What right do you have to talk to me like that? My dress is ruined, and now I demand
compensation equal to the amount I paid for it!â
The sudden slap caused the woman to st**gger, nearly falling to the ground.
She managed to steady herself. She covered her cheek and stared coldly at Cindy.
âNo one is allowed to hit my people however they like. A cold voice suddenly sounded from behind.
Cindy turned and immediately saw Rachel walking towards her slowly.
Rachel examined the injury on the womanâs face first, then said, âGo get that treated, then go to the
finance department to apply for a subsidy.â
âThank you, Miss Grey.â When the woman left with her hand covering her face, she glared at Cindy.
Cindy snorted and raised her chin arrogantly. âRachel, perfect timing! Tell me, how do you plan to
compensate for this dress?â
âAccording to its price, of course,â Rachel replied.
Hearing this, Cindyâs eyes flashed with satisfaction. âGood, thatâll be 360 thousand dollars, cheque or
credit card?â
âMiss Tory, it seems youâve misunderstood me.â
Cindy frowned and looked at Rachel in confusion.
A charming smile graced her lips. âWhen I said Iâll compensate you according to its price, I didnât mean
for you to take advantage of the situation and extort me.â
âRachel, you can just say so if you donât have the money. Thereâs no need to accuse me! Cindy had a
sarcastic smile. âEveryone knows that an haute couture gown from âThe Raimant Collection, especially
one by the mysterious designer Queen, is hard to come by. This dress cost me 360 thousand dollars,
and I have an invoice to prove it!â
As if she had suddenly remembered something, Cindy exclaimed softly, âAh, thatâs right. Miss Grey is
from a humble background, so you probably donât have much experience of the world out there. Itâs no
wonder youâre unfamiliar with The Raimant Collection.
This was not the first time he deliberately mentioned Rachelâs background in public. She had done it
repeatedly as if she had to make sure everyone present was aware of it.
Rachel curled her lips and replied unhurriedly. âSometimes, invoices donât necessarily prove
everything. Your dress is worth 100 dollars tops. Any amount you paid beyond that is most likely
because of st**pidity.â
