Chapter 630
Betrayal At The Altar (Rachel and David)
Chapter 630
Old Mr. Smith looked at Benson. âDid you bring the will?â
âYes.â Benson took out the will from his briefcase and handed it to Old Mr. Smith.
Old Mr. Smith picked up the reading glasses on the table and put them on. After carefully reading the
will, Old Mr. Smith slowly said. âHelp me make the following changes.â
Seeing that Benson was ready, Old Mr. Smith clasped his hands and slowly leaned against the head of
the bed. His turbid eyes swept across the door of the ward, and a meaningful cold glint flashed across
his eyes. âGive 60% of the total assets under my name and the companyâs shares to Rachel for free.
The remaining 40% will be divided equally among the branches of the Smith family.â
Hearing this, Benson was stunned.
The bigger the family, the more benefits were involved. There were many people who turned against
each other for money.
Back then, Old Mr. Smith had modified his will three times in order to avoid conflict in the Smith family.
Benson thought that Old Mr. Smith would favor Louis, but he did not expect that in the end, the person
who benefited the most would be an outsider.
âAre you sure you want to give most of the inheritance to an outsider?â Benson could not help but ask.
After all, this was not a small matter.
Once this will was made public, Rachel would be the person who benefited the most and also the
person who would be involved in the most disputes.
Rachel was an outsider. It was hard for others not to think much when they knew Rachel received so
many inheritances.
Old Mr. Smith raised his hand and took off his glasses. âIn your opinion, is there a better way?â
*Forgive me for being blunt, but your preference for Miss Grey might not necessarily be a good thing
for her,â Benson said.
Benson had several encounters with Rachel in the Smith family.
Benson also knew Rachelâs situation in the Smith family.
According to the temperament of the Smith family, they would not let it go easily when they learned that
Rachel had obtained most of Old Mr. Smithâs inheritances.
Old Mr. Smith smiled. He naturally knew his children.
âThatâs why I want you to add another prerequisite: Old Mr. Smith paused for a moment. âOnly when
Rachel gets the inheritance will they be able to get the rest smoothly!â
In other words, if they opposed Rachel inheriting the estate, they would get nothing.
It had to be said that this move was quite ruthless.
They were clearly unwilling, but they had no choice but to accept it.
âItâs just thatâ¦â Benson looked worried. âWith Miss Greyâs temperament, she might not be willing to
accept it.â
Hearing this, Old Mr. Smith fell silent.
Previously, Old Mr. Smith had tried to transfer his shares to Rachel more than once, but Rachel had
rejected him mercilessly.
It was obvious that Rachel did not want to have anything to do with the Smith family, nor did she intend
to help the Smith family.
However, Old Mr. Smith knew very well that if Rachel had not appeared back then and pulled the Smith
family which was on the verge of bankruptcy back on track, in Seaxas, the Smith family would have
long disappeared.
There was a short silence in the ward, but Mrs. Smith, who was outside the ward, was already furious.
If not for Mr. Smithâs tight grip, Mrs. Smith would have rushed into the ward and cursed.
Old Mr. Smith must have gone crazy from his illness.
Old Mr. Smith actually gave most of his inheritances and company shares to outsiders for free?
Could it be that in Old Mr. Smithâs eyes, his family was not as important as Rachel?
âYou shouldnât have stopped me just now!â Mrs. Smith roared angrily. âI want to ask him what heâs
thinking! He would rather hand the inheritance to an outsider than refuse to give it to our family. Is he
an old fool who canât differentiate between an outsider and his family?â
Mr. Smithâs eyes were filled with deep thought. After pondering for a long time, Mr. Smith. said, âDad
naturally has his own considerations and plans. Letâs not worry.â
âNo!â Mrs. Smith pulled a long face and shook off Mr. Smithâs hand. âI donât care about his research and
plans. In short, I canât watch an outsider take our things!â
With that, Mrs. Smith left without looking back.
Rachel received a call from Mrs. Smith, and a layer of coldness could not help but between her
eyebrows.
appear
This family of weirdos was really making their presence known in front of Rachelâs eyes all the time.
âMiss Grey, if itâs convenient for you, I hope that you can come out and meet me alone. There are some
things I want to talk to you about alone.â Mrs. Smith felt that her attitude was good enough, but her
words still revealed an unconcealable arrogance.
Rachel closed the contract in front of her and played with the pen with her fingertips. âSorry, itâs not
convenient.â
Upon hearing this, Mrs. Smith choked.
Mrs. Smith clenched her fists tightly and resisted the urge to curse. She continued, âMiss Grey, you
have Mr. Jones backing you now. Naturally, you donât take us seriously.â
âWhat are you trying to say?â Rachel narrowed her eyes. There was an indistinct coldness in her eyes.
Mrs. Smith paused for a moment and said earnestly, âI want to say that now that youâve a more
powerful backer, the Smith family naturally becomes useless for you. As long as you follow Mr. Jones,
youâll definitely have a bright future. Iâm sure you wonât care about Mr. Smithâs little inheritance, right?â
Mr. Smithâs inheritance?
Upon hearing this, Rachel frowned imperceptibly.
Although Mrs. Smith did not elaborate on the ins and outs of the matter, Rachel could. roughly guess
what had happened.
On the eve of Rachelâs wedding to Louis, Old Mr. Smith revealed to Rachel that he wanted. to transfer
the shares under his name to her as a congratulatory gift.
Later, when Rachel broke up with Louis, Old Mr. Smith tried to transfer these shares to her as an
apology.
However, Rachel knew that guilt was just an excuse. Old Mr. Smithâs real goal was to tie Rachel to the
Smith family.
It had to be said that Old Mr. Smith was quite scheming.
Old Mr. Smith wanted to tie Rache to the Smith family forcefully by giving Rachel his inheritance.
âMiss Grey, youâve been by Mr. Jonesâs side during this period of time. You must have seen the
elephant and naturally obtained a lot of benefits. If you give birth to a child for Mr. Jones in the future,
you will definitely gain endless glory and wealth. Mr. Smithâs inheritance. is nothing in your eyes, right?â
Mrs. Smith said, âWhen you came to the Smith family penniless back then, Mr. Smith doted on you in
every way possible. Even on account of your past relationship, you shouldnât just watch him make a
mistake, right?â
Rachel did not say anything. She casually picked up a magazine. On it was the news that the
government would jointly establish a new pharmaceutical company with the 101 Institute.
Mrs. Smith felt that the previous preparations were enough, so she went straight to the point. âSo, I
hope you can persuade Mr. Smith to abandon this will and redraft a new one.â
Mrs. Smith had said so much for this last goal.
âThis is your familyâs business. It has nothing to do with me,â Rachel said coldly.
âRachel, itâs quite easy for you to say that!â Mrs. Smithâs voice suddenly rose, and her tone was sharp
and unkind. âYou know that Mr. Smith has given you most of his inheritance, but youâre in a hurry to
draw a line between us and say that it has nothing to do with you! If you really want to cut ties with us,
you can contact Mr. Smith immediately and ask him to change his will!â
Rachel sneered. âWhy should I listen to you?â
With that, Rachel hung up.
