Chapter 654
Betrayal At The Altar (Rachel and David)
Chapter 654
Davidâs expression changed. He hung up the phone and rushed to the bedroom.
He pushed open the door and saw Rachel kneeling on the ground. He frowned slightly. âWhatâs
wrong?â
Rachel knelt on the ground and picked up the phone methodically.
Hearing Davidâs voice, the coldness between her eyebrows faded a little. âMy hand slipped just now
and I accidentally dropped my phone.â
A meaningful dark glint flashed across Davidâs eyes.
What a poor excuse.
Did she truly consider him to be that foolish?
In spite of his disdain, he played along and asked. âCan you still use it? If you canât use it, Iâll get you a
new one.â
He did not expose Rachelâs poorly made-up excuse.
âIt should still be alright.â Rachel picked up the phone and tapped on its screen.
Seeing that the phone was unharmed, she smiled. âI didnât expect it to be so sturdy.â
âIt just looks sturdy on the outside.â David walked forward and gently stroked her hair. He said
meaningfully. âItâs also very fragile on the inside.â
Rachelâs eyes flashed slightly. She looked at Davidâs gentle black eyes and finally gave up on
pretending that everything was alright.
She sighed softly and wrapped her arms around his waist. She buried her face in his chest and said
gloomily, âIâm so angry.â
That someone could be so shameless.
Back then, he regarded Rachel as a burden and abandoned her. Now that he realized that she still had
some value, he tried to reconcile with her. He even used his mother as an excuse to persuade her and
even used his motherâs belongings to threaten her.
David was used to Rachel pretending to be strong. He was also used to her keeping everything to
herself.
He could wait.
He was also patient enough to wait for Rachel to slowly open up to him. However, he did not expect
Rachel to suddenly open up to him so suddenly. He pursed his lips and reached out to caress her back.
âSo⦠Would a kiss help?â Before he could finish his sentence, Rachel tiptoed and kissed him on the
lips.
Davidâs body stiffened slightly, and his arms involuntarily tightened.
Their lips touched, and the soft touch made him greedy. If he was not careful, he would become
addicted.
Their breathing was ragged. Davidâs forehead was pressed against hers. They could feel their breaths
on each otherâs faces. The ambiguous feeling spread silently from the two of them.
âWant to take a shower together?â
Rachel Grey didnât answer.
She struggled free from Davidâs hold, hurriedly grabbed her clothes, and locked herself in the
bathroom.
Looking at her fleeing back, Davidâs eyes were filled with a faint smile.
As the bathroom door closed, the smile in his eyes disappeared and was replaced by a deep darkness.
At the Grey family in Pollister, ever since he found out that Rachel was the one who bankrupted the
Cruise Group, Hans Grey had been trying to contact Rachel in an attempt to rope her and her
benefactor in.
However, he had greatly underestimated Rachelâs heartlessness.
Not only did she refuse to answer the call, but she also blocked his number.
It was as if she wanted nothing to do with him for the rest of her life.
Although Hans hated Rachelâs ruthlessness, he did not dare to flare
1.
After all, his daughter was no longer the little girl he could control before.
Moreover, from what he knew about Rachel, if he really drive her up the wall, he would not be able to
gain any benefits. If she asked her benefactor to attack the Grey family, the Grey family would not be
able to fight back.
Thinking about all this gave him a headache.
He thought about it and realized that the only weakness that he could use against Rachel was some of
Sophia Johnsonâs belongings that he had hidden back then.
Hans played with a pendant in his hand.
Back then, when he saw how much Sophia treasured this pendant, he thought that it would be a
priceless treasure. Therefore, he secretly hid it and planned to sell it when he would one day be short
of money. However, he did not expect it to be worthless.
The reason why he did not throw it away was not that he still had feelings for Sophia. He simply felt that
this pendant might be of great use in the future.
It turned out that he was right.
His daughter was good at everything, but she was too stubborn, just like her mother.
He could only make her submit with her Achillesâ heel.
Coincidentally, this pendant was exactly what he could use to control Rachel.
He casually threw the pendant on the table and tapped the table rhythmically with his fingertips.
The few messages that he had sent previously elicited no response whatsoever.
Just as he thought that Rachel would not reply, his phone suddenly lit up.
[How do you think the Grey family survived until now?]
It was a simple sentence, but the words were filled with arrogance,
Hans narrowed his eyes and slammed his phone on the table. He gritted his teeth and spat. âThis
heartless little bastard!â
How dare she threaten him?
Why didnât he beat her to death back then?
If he really killed her, wouldnât it be the end of his problem?
Although he was gritting his teeth in anger, Hans still patiently sent the photo of the pendant over.
[You should be familiar with this!]
Upon seeing Hansâs message, Rachelâs eyes seemed to freeze.
Of course, she was familiar with this pendant.
1
Even after so many years, she still remembered how her mother had touched this pendant with care.
Her expression was gentle and affectionate as if she was touching the face of a lover.
âWhy arenât you sleeping yet?â David pulled Rachel into his arms.
Her back was pressed against his warm chest, and Rachelâs body stiffened slightly, âIâm going to sleep
now.â
After turning off her phone, she froze and did not move.
In the darkness, there was no other sound other than Davidâs even breathing.
Rachel secretly heaved a sigh of relief.
However, before she could let out her breath, David had already flipped her over and was pressing
against her.
She suddenly opened her eyes and was caught off guard as she looked into Davidâs dark and deep
eyes.
The dim light made his facial features look deep and well-defined. His dark eyes were so bright that
they seemed to be looking into her soul.
Her gaze slowly moved down, and she could vaguely see his clean jawline and his Adamâs apple.
No matter how slow Rachel was, she could tell what was about to happen next.
Her hands curled up nervously. âCan you be gentlerâ¦â
âOkay.â
Under the gentle moonlight, the room was filled with an ambiguous atmosphere.
On the next day, Rachel woke up as usual, but her limbs were exhausted.
She lay on the bed for a long time before slowly sitting up.
She looked at the contents of the trash can.
1, 2, 3, 4â¦
She couldnât help but click her tongue and sigh silently. It was true that a man who had just had his first
taste didnât know how to control himself.
