Chapter 672
Betrayal At The Altar (Rachel and David)
Chapter 672
Yann and the others were investigating this matter and were currently screening the leads one by one.
Rachelâs gaze flickered slightly as she said, âI casually asked a friend.â
David lifted his eyebrows slightly when he heard her explanation. His thin lips curled into a faint smile
as he said meaningfully, âYou really are impressing me more and more.â
David caressed Rachelâs earlobes with his fingers, rubbing them lightly with his rough fingertips. His
deep and magnetic voice slowly drifted into Rachelâs ears. âYouâve done me such a large favor. How
can I repay you?â
Rachelâs body could not help but tense up when she felt the manâs long and flexible fingers caress her
sensitive ears. She replied, âI donât need repayment for small favors like that.â
âThereâs a saying in Aureliana that says to repay small favors with many times the gratitude.â
âIf you really want to thank me, then please protect me well.â Rachel pushed Davidâs hand away and
said, sounding unhappy. âAfter all, I am new here and I am not familiar with the people and places of
Aureliana. Itâs not as peaceful here as in Seaxas either.â
She was deliberately teasing David with the words Georgia said earlier.
Rachel didnât consider herself a magnanimous person. She was very petty and had a strong sense of
revenge.
Moreover, she could also sense Georgiaâs hostility toward her from her words.
Since that was the case, she didnât need to pretend to be a respectable and magnanimous woman.
David looked at her with a doting and indulgent gaze. âWhy care about what a stranger said?â
He pulled up her chin with his fingertips and leaned down to place a gentle kiss on her lips.
âStranger?â Rachel looked at him with a fake smile.
âThere are only two types of women in my eyes. David stood up, circled the rattan chair, and stopped in
front of Rachel. He continued, âThe first is Rachel Grey, and the other is a total stranger.â
âWere you always so wise?â
âEvery man has to go through a lesson in masculine virtue.â
Rachel smiled when she heard those words.
David held her hand. âThereâs a party tonight. Shall we go together?â
Rachel looked at their entwined fingers. She did not respond to Davidâs question.
She knew that she would have to meet Davidâs family and friends before she came.
However, both Thomas Bowes and Georgia Walker had made it clear that they were testing and
probing her.
Georgia even had an added hostility that Thomas didnât have.
-She probably felt that Rachel wasnât good enough for David.
Seeing that Rachel remained silent, David looked up and asked, âDonât you want to go?â
âI do,â Rachel replied with a faint smile. âAfter all, theyâre your friends.â
If they werenât Davidâs friends, Rachel wouldnât have cared about them.
In the evening, six Rolls-Royces and two limited-edition sports cars drove out of the Peckham Palace.
Jimmy drove a pink sports car and, after honking at Landon, suddenly sped up like a runaway horse.
Landon followed the Rolls-Royce motorcade at a leisurely pace,
He glanced nonchalantly at Georgia, who was sitting in the passenger seat. âYou went too far today.â
Georgia didnât say anything. However, she blinked her eyes, looking puzzled.
Landon did not give her a chance to feign ignorance and warned her in a cold tone, âI donât care where
your hostility toward Rachel comes from, but I advise you not to constantly find faults with her.â
âAm I constantly finding faults with her?â Georgia chuckled. âI just chatted with her for a bit. Besides, I
was just giving her some advice based on facts.â
âDonât you see how much David cares about her?â Landonâs brow furrowed slightly. âI donât care what
you plan to do, but youâd better not think about doing anything to her. Otherwise, youâll be the one who
suffers in the end!â
He had seen firsthand how much David valued Rachel during his time in Seaxas.
However, Georgia didnât take his advice seriously at all. âItâs because he values her that I need to help
him at this crucial moment! Others donât know what David has been through these years, but you
should know. You and David have been good friends for many years, yet you just let him walk down the
road to ruin like this!
âRumors of David having a woman outside had already spread a month ago. The Elders sent people to
investigate, but there was always no news. Isnât he proving the rumors true and giving people a chance
to harm him by openly bringing the woman back?
âI admit that in terms of looks, Rachel is far superior to the lady from the Clifford family. But whatâs the
use of beauty? Sheâs just an ornament thatâs only good for decoration and not practical for anything
else. Thereâs no way that she can go through thick and thin with David!â
Upon hearing this, Landon let out a light laugh. His eyes narrowed and his gaze was sharp as a knife
as he looked directly at Georgia. âAre you sure that what you just said is a calm analysis and not
something to hide your personal motives?â
Georgiaâs heart tightened, her eyelashes trembling slightly as she looked down at her fingernails. She
said, âItâs not strange for me to like a man as excellent as David.
âAnd besides, even if I have feelings for David, itâs completely separate from any hostility I may have
toward Rachel.â
She admitted to being slightly jealous of Rachel, but she wouldnât stoop so low as to use such
underhanded tactics.
David wouldnât even give her the time of day if her intentions were impure, even if she was Landonâs
sister.
âI hope youâre telling the truth,â Landon said, his coldness receding slightly.
Georgia raised her chin, looking at him with a frank expression.
âOf course I am.â
As Georgia had said, it wasnât surprising for any woman to be drawn to a man as outstanding as David.
However, since David had chosen Rachel, Landon wouldnât allow anyone to harm her, not even
Georgia.
As her older brother, Landon had said all that needed to be said. The rest was up to Georgia.
-Hopefully, she would make a wise decision.
The lights of the Entertainment Center shone brightly in the night.
Rachel, David, Jimmy, and the Walker siblings walked into the restaurant together.
The observatory restaurant was located on the 32nd floor of the Entertainment Center. Standing by the
window, one could overlook the most bustling area of the city.
As the owner of the Entertainment Center, Jimmy was very generous. He had booked the entire
restaurant for tonight.
A waiter in uniform walked up respectfully and asked, âMr. Shain, would you like to place your order
now?â
Jimmy glanced at his watch. âTell the kitchen to start preparation.â
He handed the menu to Rachel. âRachel, take a look and see if thereâs anything you like.â
âI donât have any dietary restrictions.â Rachel politely declined Jimmyâs offer.
David poured her a glass of warm water and leaned in close to her car as he handed it to her. âNo
dietary restrictions?â he whispered.
