Chapter 690
Betrayal At The Altar (Rachel and David)
Chapter 690
âItâs his fault for saying those stupid things,â Rachel said.
Blackhawk walked to Rachelâs side. He noticed there was coffee by Rachelâs hand. âWow, looks like
weâre in for a treat today,â Blackhawk said.
Blackhawk remembered that Twelve had always liked these fancy things.
Just as Blackhawk was about to pour a cup of coffee, Rachel slapped his hand away. âYouâre not
allowed to drink!â
Blackhawk touched his hand that had been slapped with an innocent look on his face. âDidnât you make
the coffee so that we can drink it? Besides, Vulture was the one who pissed you off, not me.â
âThe two of you are the same!â Rachel snorted angrily and turned to go upstairs.
Blackhawk was speechless.
Blackhawk felt that he was collateral damage.
Rachel returned to her room and tidied her clothes.
At this moment, Rachelâs phone suddenly rang.
Rachel picked it up and took a look. It was her uncle, Tom, calling.
Upon seeing this call, Rachel felt guilty for no reason.
Other than Lucas, no one else knew that Rachel had come to Aureliana.
However, Rachelâs uncle called at this time. Could it be that her uncle had heard the news?
Rachel took a deep breath and hesitated for a moment. She braced herself and picked up the phone.
As soon as the call connected, Tomâs cold voice entered Rachelâs ears through the phone. âWhere are
you?â
Tomâs tone was calm, without any fluctuations, but it made oneâs heart tighten for some reason.
Rachel couldnât help but tighten her grip on the phone. She cleared her throat and struggled for a
moment. âIâm out.â
It was not that Rachel wanted to hide it, but she really did not have the courage to confess everything.
âWhereâs out?â Tom asked with an ambiguous attitude.
Hearing this, Rachel had some guesses in her mind.
Rachel pursed her lips, no longer hiding anything. âIâm in Aureliana.â
âHa!â Tom sneered without hiding anything. Tom gritted his teeth. âRachel, youâre getting bolder and
bolder! How dare you hide such a thing from me?â
âI didnât mean to hide it. I just didnât want you to worry,â Rachel explained.
âSo
you
know that weâre worried about you!â Tomâs cold voice was mixed with a hint of unconcealable anger.
Tom took a deep breath and glanced at Lucas who was squatting with two sandbags in his hands. Tom
said with a gloomy face, âTell me, when will you be back!â
Rachel thought for a moment. âIâm not sure yet.â
Tom raised his hand and massaged his temples. Tom closed his eyes and took another deep breath.
After calming down, Tom spoke again, âBe careful. When you return to Seaxas, remember to come.
back and report to the Johnson family.â
With that, Tom hung up.
Listening to the beeping sound on the phone, Rachel frowned with a serious expression.
Go back and report to the Johnson familyâ¦
Could it be that Rachelâs Grandpa knew?
It had to be!
Otherwise, why would Tom ask Rachel to go back and report to the Johnson family when Rachel
went back?
Rachel held her phone. She looked like she was dealing with a big problem. Just as Rachel was
wondering if she should call Lucas to find out what was going on, a black shadow appeared behind her.
Before Rachel could look back, she felt the unique and familiar wood fragrance envelop her.
In front of the floor-to-ceiling window, David slowly leaned down on Rachelâs shoulder. Davidâs lips were
pressed against Rachelâs temple, and his low and magnetic voice slowly sounded in Rachelâs ear.
âWhat are you thinking about?â
Davidâs warm breath sprayed on the side of Rachelâs head, sweeping the loose hair at her temples.
Rachel couldnât help but shrink her neck and look at David. âSome family matters.â
âDo
you want to go out for a walk tonight?â David wrapped his arms around Rachelâs slender waist and
rubbed her slightly cold hand with his palm.
Rachel raised her eyebrows slightly. âYou still want to go out?â
âAfraid?â David grabbed Rachelâs waist and turned Rachel around to face him. David lifted Rachelâs
chin with his well-defined fingers and caressed Rachelâs lips with his fingertips. âThereâs an auction at
Moon Pavilion tonight. Do you want to go and play?â
Hearing this, Rachelâs eyes were filled with interest. âSure.â
Rachel had always liked to watch the show at auctions, but this was the first time she had seen an
auction in Aureliana.
Rachel thought it was good to enrich her experience.
Twenty minutes later, Rachel walked out of the fitting room after changing into a gown.
This gown would not be too eye-catching or too casual.
The well-tailored gown accentuated Rachelâs graceful figure.
The slit at the hem of her dress was just in the right place. As Rachel walked, her straight and slender
legs could be vaguely seen, making oneâs imagination run wild.
The coldness of the green gown revealed indifference, keeping people away. However, when Rachel
wore it, there was a hint of charm. Rachel was like a noble and elegant saintess. People could only
admire her but not dare to approach her.
David was sitting on the sofa. When he saw Rachel walking out of the changing room, David narrowed
his eyes which flickered with a dark light.
âIs this okay?â Rachel adjusted her collar.
As Rachel raised her head, her chest naturally puffed up.
Davidâs dark eyes darkened. He stood up and walked straight to Rachel. âChange into something else.â
âDoesnât it look good?â Rachel subconsciously lowered her head to check her gown.
David wrapped his arm around Rachelâs waist. âI donât feel secure.â
Hearing this, Rachel couldnât help but laugh. âWhat kind of reason is that?â
âBe good.â David bent down slightly and kissed Rachelâs temple. David coaxed Rachel in a low voice,
âThe cold wind in Moon Pavilion is very strong. This gown is too thin. Can you change into another
one?â
Ten minutes later, under Davidâs coaxing and pestering, Rachel changed her clothes.
Moon Pavilion sounded like a name of a pavilion, but that was not the case.
Moon Pavilion consisted of 6 buildings, each of which was connected to the other.
If one looked down from the sky, it was like 6 stars in a row.
Todayâs auction happened to be held in the main building.
As soon as Rachel and David entered, a staff led them into the private room.
Rachel looked around at the ancient decorations and felt like she was dreaming.
âWhatâs the good stuff today?â
âMoon Pavilion isnât like other auction houses. Thereâs no specific item, only a core theme.â David down
the coffee cups in his hand. âAnd todayâs theme is blindness.â
âBlindness?â Hearing this, Rachelâs eyes were filled with interest.
This was the first time Rachel had heard of such a rule. Rachel was even more curious and looked
forward to tonightâs auction.
As the auction slowly began, Rachel stood at the wooden railing and looked down.
There was a round table in the middle.
Stones of different sizes were placed on the table, and every stone was marked with an orderly
number.
At the same time, the butler sent the pamphlet to the private room, labeling each stone with a base
price and the amount of the increase.
Seeing the situation, Rachel understood.
It was stone gambling.
However, this was the first time Rachel had seen such a scene in stone gambling.
David saw Rachelâs curiosity and asked, âDo you want to go down and play?â
âIâd like that.â
