Chapter 705
Betrayal At The Altar (Rachel and David)
Chapter 705
In Peckham Palace, the huge living room was already filled with people.
Rachel and Mary sat on the sofa, and Rachel poured a glass of hot water and handed it to Mary. âDrink
some water first.â
Mary slowly reached out to take the glass of water and stiffly took a sip.
Although Mary was used to being spoiled, this was the first time in her life that she had been
kidnapped.
Mary had even had a bomb tied to her body by the kidnappers. It would be impossible for her to not
have any trauma from this incident.
Rachel could tell that Mary was behaving stiffly and reached out to touch her cheek. âLetâs go. Iâll take
you back to your room to change your clothes first.â
Mary was still wearing dirty clothes.
After the two of them left, Landon watched them disappear before he turned to look at Jimmy. âWhat do
you plan to do?â
Jimmy was smoking as he sat on the sofa sullenly. Smoke swirled in front of him. âWeâll cross that
bridge when we come to it. Why are you thinking so much now?â
Seeing that he was frustrated, Landon changed the topic, raising his eyebrows at David. âBy the way,
what happened today?â
âThatâs right.â Jimmy dusted off the cigarette ash from his fingertips. âWhy did that bas*ard Nathan
kidnap Mary of all people?â
If it were someone else, Jimmy wouldnât be sighing with worry now.
Usually, no matter how Jimmy played the fool outside, the main family would turn a blind eye.
After all, although no one said it aloud, everyone knew very well that as the next head of the Shain
family, Jimmy had no say in his marriage.
But now, Mary had suddenly âdescended upon Aureliana. The family would think that Jimmy had done
this on purpose.
It was not beneficial to him or Mary!
With this in mind, Jimmy put out the cigarette in his hand, placed the cigarette in the ashtray, and
cursed softly.
Looking at his troubled face, Landon was no longer in the mood to tease him.
Landon turned to look at Vulture and Blackhawk, who were in the dining room, with a faint smile on his
lips. âDonât you two have anything to say?â
Vulture and Blackhawk were stunned as the attention moved toward them, and they looked at each
other..
Vulture fiddled with his phone and walked towards them. âWhat do you want to know?â
Landon took out a cigarette and threw it toward him. âOf course, everything you know.â
Vulture nimbly caught the cigarette and sniffed it, looking up at Landon with an intriguing smile.
In the second-floor bedroom, Mary followed behind Rachel closely like she was Rachelâs tail.
Rachel sighed softly but didnât say anything.
Rachel filled the bathtub and tested the water temperature before she turned to look at Mary following
behind her. âThe water is ready. Take a good bath, and Iâll find you a change of clothes.â
Mary nodded.
However, when Rachel turned to leave, Mary instinctively grabbed Racheâs wrist. âYou⦠Youâ¦â
Rachel saw through her immediately and held Maryâs hand. âDonât worry, I wonât leave.â
âOkay.â Mary nodded heavily, took a deep breath, and walked towards the bathroom.
Mary was the Green familyâs only daughter. She was loved by everyone and had always been the
apple of Kyleâs eye. This was her first time experiencing a kidnapping.
Rachel didnât know how Mary had even survived the kidnapping.
At this thought, Rachel sighed deeply, a sense of guilt instantly engulfing her.
If it wasnât for her, Mary wouldnât have been kidnapped and brought here, let alone encounter such a
terrifying experience.
Rachel collected her thoughts and walked into the cloakroom to choose a suitable outfit for Mary. After
getting everything ready, Rachel headed out to the kitchen to prepare some food for Mary. As Rachel
walked out, she turned and bumped into a firm and warm chest.
Before Rachel could react, the man wrapped his arm around her waist and pressed her against the
wall. However, his hand protected Rachelâs back, afraid she would bump into the wall.
The warm light in the corridor fell on him, making it look as if he was surrounded by a faint layer of
golden light that warmed the sharpness and indifference around him.
âWhy are you here?â Rachel looked at the man in front of her with gentle eyes. Her fair fingers gently
brushed past his chin and unbuttoned the first button of his shirt.
David held her hand and stepped forward, pressing his chest against her. His dark eyes were like a
bottomless cold lake, and his cold voice was slightly hoarse. âWhy did you act on your own?â
âI didnât want you to be distracted.â Rachel looked up at him and placed her arms naturally across his
shoulders. âThis family banquet was very important to you. I canât disturb you for a small matter.â
Rachel did not want to be a burden to David.
Rachel also couldnât accept that she had become Davidâs weakness that others used against him.
Such an answer was unacceptable to David.
David frowned slightly and stared at her with his dark eyes, his tone serious. âRachel Grey, youâre far
more important than anything else to meâ
âI know,â Rachel said. âBut Iâve already caused you trouble just by being here. Iâ¦â
Before she could finish her sentence, David leaned over and pressed his lips onto hers with a kiss,
forcing her to swallow the unfinished words.
David held the back of her head with his palm, his other hand holding her chin, not giving her any way
to escape.
Davidâs kiss was domineering and aggressive, robbing her of her breath.
Rachelâs hands were curled up slightly as her fingers wrapped around the collar of his shirt tightly.
Just as Rachelâs tongue was almost numb, David suddenly changed his domineering attitude and
kissed her gently.
It was like the gentle caress of flowing water.
However, there seemed to be a small h**k that h**ked her sensitive heartstrings.
After the kiss, Rachel leaned against his shoulder, breathing heavily.
Rachelâs fair cheeks had a delicate blush, and the corners of her eyes glistened. It was easy to sink
into her eyes with just one look.
David raised his hand and gently stroked Rachelâs face, his fingers gently caressing the corners of her
eyes. âLet her leave with Jimmy tonight.â
It was just a suggestion, but Rachel understood what David was trying to say.
Rachel pursed her lips. âIâm afraid not.â
Based on how Mary was, Rachel wasnât sure that Jimmy could take good care of Mary.
Rachel looked at David and reached out to gently stroke his eyebrows with her fingertips, speaking
slowly, âMary was kidnapped because of me. Sheâs unfamiliar with this place. I shouldnât be letting
anyone else. take care of her.â
Even if Mary didnât say anything and tried her best to act normal, Rachel knew Mary must be extremely
scared.
âI think I need to accompany her and counsel her,â Rachel said.
Hearing her reasonable analysis, Davidâs lips curled into a helpless smile.
David pressed Rachelâs earlobe between his fingertips. âDonât fiancés need psychological counseling
too?â
