Chapter 858
Betrayal At The Altar (Rachel and David)
Chapter 858
With a leisurely and relaxed pace, David was like a male lion fixated on delicious prey.
Every movement he made exuded an air of confidence and assured victory.
As Rachel had just laid down on the bed, David reached out and pulled her up. âYour hair isnât dry yet.
Arenât you afraid of catching a cold?â
He placed the glass of milk in Rachelâs hand and fetched a hairdryer, plugging it in before calmly blow-
drying her hair.
Davidâs well-defined fingers slid through her silky hair, gently grazing her scalp. Every movement he
made seemed unintentional, yet it revealed tenderness and thoughtfulness..
Rachel gazed at Davidâs figure through the bright and clean window, unable to help but feel a sense of
admiration. Indeed, handsome men always appeared pleasing in whatever they did.
Even in the simplest and most ordinary act of blow-drying hair, he elevated it to something
extraordinary with his exquisite
and stunning face.
He was a favored man. It was like heaven had bestowed all perfection upon him alone.
Yet, no matter how perfect David was, he had fallen for her.
Thinking about it, Rachel couldnât help but feel proud.
She lowered her head slightly and covered her lips with a faint smile.
David turned off the hairdryer and rubbed the top of her head with his broad palm. Then, he asked in a
low voice, âAre you free this weekend?â
This weekendâ¦
Rachelâs gaze flickered slightly, and she did have plans.
But upon hearing Davidâs words, her interest was piqued. âYou have plans?â
âI want to take you somewhere,â David replied, putting away the hairdryer.
Hearing his response, Rachel became even more curious.
When Rachel saw the appearance of Christopher today, a faint suspicion arose in her heart. Now,
Davidâs words seemed to be confirming her previous conjecture one by one.
âLet me guess, could it be that youâre going to show me the true face of the underground king?â
Rachelâs eyes held a glint of cunning.
When she first came into contact with David, Lucas compiled a list of rumors about David and sent it to
her in an attempt to persuade her to give up on David.
Among them was the rumor that David controlled an underground power and had absolute authority.
This matter had already come to her attention during the bidding event, where multiple forces appeared
at the same time. They all showed the utmost respect and deference to David. She had already
deduced a thing or two from that.
Now, David decided to take Rachel to experience it, causing her heart to be filled with excitement and
anticipation to some
extent.
As he looked at the shimmering smile in Rachelâs eyes, Davidâs gaze darkened, his Adamâs apple
bobbed, and he leaned down, pressing her beneath him.
As the lights dimmed, his lips brushed against her temple. He whispered in a deep voice tinged with
passionate huskiness, âWhy donât you try guessing what Iâm going to do to you next?â
Rachel shivered all over and instinctively looked at him.
In the dim light, a cluster of flames seemed to ignite in the depths of the manâs pitch-black eyes, igniting
the fervor and addiction within them.
In a daze, Rachel felt a coolness around her waist, and her dress was swiftly pushed up to her chest.
Amidst the late-night hours, the air became filled with the soft sounds of breathy moans, composing a
nocturnal symphony of sensual desires.
The next day, 12 noon.
During the lunch break, Rachel invited Mary to go out for lunch.
The two sat at a table in a restaurant. Rachel wiped her hands with an alcohol wipe, wearing a half-
smile that sent a shiver down Maryâs spine.
Fortunately, Rachel was only cleaning her hands with the wipe. Otherwise, someone might have
mistaken her for sharpening a knife.
Mary quietly picked up her chopsticks, feeling a sense of unease for no apparent reason. âWhy are you
looking at me like that?â
With a casual flick, Rachel tossed the wet wipe onto the table and crossed her arms. She looked like
she was interrogating Mary. âNext time, if you come across any inappropriate or unnecessary
questions, just keep them to yourself, okay?â
There was a hint of deep resentment in her words.
Maryâs eyebrows arched slightly, and her lips involuntarily curled upward. Excitement flickered in her
eyes, fueled by curiosity. She extended the forks she held toward Rachel. âSis, please share your
story.â
Rachel glanced at her coldly.
Mary immediately withdrew her hand, feeling guilty. She hung her head low and muttered under her
breath, âI just care about you. Itâs all for your sake. What if something unexpected were to happenâ¦â
Noticing Rachelâs silence, Mary reached for her cup and took a sip.
Mary became bolder and approached Rachel, her eyes fixed on her face, tinged with a hint of probing
in her tone. âDid David overhear our conversation?â
Rachel remained silent, simply giving her a meaningful glance.
Though no words were spoken, that gaze seemed to convey everything she wanted to say at the same
time.
Mary couldnât help but take a sharp breath, and when she spoke again, her voice noticeably trembled.
âHe actually heard us?â
Rachel nodded.
In that instant, Mary had even planned out where she would be buried in the future.
âDoes David have any plans on how to deal with the Green family?â
âNow youâre afraid?â
âIâ¦â Mary initially wanted to refute, but she realized she had indeed done something stupid and lacked
confidence. âI was just worried that things might escalate if your relationship gets too intense and you
will end up pregnant.â
The main reason was that she had heard some gossip about David recently. It was said that he had
extraordinary advantages in all aspects that exceeded ordinary people, especially in that particular area
That was why she couldnât help but ask.
Of course, she would never dare to tell Rachel this.
When the food was served, the two of them chatted while eating
âWhen is the flight?â Rachel asked casually.
Mary was busy slurping her spaghetti and mumbled, âNext weekend.â
Upon hearing this, Rachel nodded. It wouldnât clash with her scheduled date with David.
After finishing their meal, the two went their separate ways on the roadside.
Just as Rachel was about to get into her car, a speeding motorcycle suddenly emerged from the
sidewalk.
âWatch out!â Maryâs quick eyes and reflexes allowed her to grab Rachelâs arm and pull her forcefully
towards herself.
Both of them lost their balance and fell to the ground in a disheveled manner.
Meanwhile, taking advantage of the chaos, they swiftly grabbed Rachelâs bag and fled.â
Rachel squinted her eyes, staring intently at the direction in which the motorcycle disappeared.
âWhat the hell? I canât believe there are still such outrageous bikers!â Mary slowly got up from the
ground. Her arm had scraped against the concrete, leaving a few abrasions, but she didnât feel any
pain. She looked at Rachel with a tense expression. âAre you okay? Did you get hurt?â
Upon hearing her words, Rachel came back to her senses. âIâm fine.â
Her gaze shifted downward, noticing the abrasions on Maryâs arm. She supported her and helped her
stand up. âYouâre injured. Let me take you to the hospital first.â
âWhat about your bag?â Mary grabbed Rachelâs wrist in return. âMy minor scrapes wonât kill me. The
priority now is to retrieve your bag.â
