Chapter 97
Betrayal At The Altar (Rachel and David)
When Jessica heard her words, a smile appeared on her cold face. âEveryone has changed after so
many years. Only you are still the same as before.â
âAre you secretly mocking me for not making any progress?â Mary raised her eyebrows and looked at
Jessica. Her gaze landed on Jessicaâs chest, and a teasing smile flashed across her eyes. âYouâve
indeed changed a lot. It can be said to be a qualitative leap.â
Jessica took the ladyâs cigarette away from her lips and leaned forward with her chest puffed up. âDo
you wanna try a try on this?â
âJessica, youâre a girl. You should be reserved!â Mary could not help but blush from Jessicaâs teasing.
As the two of them were joking around, Rachel asked, âAre you still leaving after coming back this
time?â
âI havenât thought about it yet.â Jessica put the ladyâs cigarette in her hand into the ashtray on the
coffee table and stubbed it out. âIâll just take it one step at a time.â
As she spoke, Linda pushed open the door and walked in. She nodded at Mary and Jessica and looked
at Rachel. âMs. Grey, the trending topic has been removed.â
Rachel gave a nod and turned to look at Jessica. âShall we go to the studio to take a set of photos
first?â
âSure,â Jessica said as she stood up and walked out.
With Adrianâs arrival, Mary wisely left first.
âWhy are you here?â Rachel poured him a glass of water and placed it on the table.
âYour Uncle Tom had something on and specially asked me to come and see you. Coincidentally, I
happened to pass by and came up to take a look.â Adrian sat on the sofa and looked Rachel up and
down. âAre you feeling better?â
âMuch better.â Rachel sat in the armchair beside him.
Adrian picked up the cup and took a sip. His gaze landed on the cigarette butt of the lady in the
ashtray. The depths of his eyes under the glasses had a dark glint as he silently tightened his grip on
the cup. He asked casually, âSince when did Mary, this little girl, begin to smoke?â
âItâs not Mary. Itâs another friend of mine,â Rachel explained.
Adrianâs fingertips caressed the edge of the cup. His eyebrows were slightly raised, and the corners of
his lips curled into a faint smile. âDo I know her?â
âSheâs Jessica. You should have an impression of her.â
Unsurprisingly, when he heard this name, a meaningful smile flashed across Adrianâs eyes. He
drawled, saying calmly, âSo itâs herâ¦â
Rachel failed to notice Adrianâs expression and said, âBy the way, I want you to help me find a house
closer to the company.â
âItâs not difficult to find a house. I have an apartment nearby available. Iâll get someone to send the key
to you later.â
The two of them exchanged a few words before Adrian stood up and left.
After a busy week of work, it was Old Mr. Smithâs 80th birthday in the blink of an eye.
When Rachel went to Old Mr. Smithâs residence, she first went to Glamour Pavilion, a famous antique
shop in Seaxas.
As soon as Rachel entered, the shop assistant immediately welcomed her. Rachel picked up a pocket
watch and packed it away as if she was strolling in her own backyard.
After leaving, she took a car to Old Mr. Smithâs residence.
Naturally, Old Mr. Smithâs 80th birthday was a big deal. Coupled with the fact that the Smith family was
now a popular rising family,
there were naturally people who rushed to curry favor with him.
In order to avoid unnecessary trouble, Rachel deliberately bypassed the main entrance and entered
Old Mr. Smithâs courtyard through the side door.
At this moment, in the courtyard, the Smith family gathered to have coffee and chat.
Seeing Rachelâs arrival, everyone was slightly stunned, their faces revealing a trace of amazement.
