The One Night Stand Turns Out To Be My Professor
30
Sophiaâs POV
I turned around on my bed, hugging the duvet to my body. As I expected, Sarah had turned my room to hers but she had moved back to she and Simonâs shared room till I leave again. Simon and I were discharged yesterday night and I had been sleeping ever since.
I opened my eyes and yawned, then stretched. I picked up my phone and checked the time. It was Sunday. Almost one pm. I picked up my phone and decided to call Ian first. I was supposed to call him since yesterday yet I had failed to do that. At least Jenny had spoken to him and assured him that I was okay.
I ran my hands through my hair as I dialed his number and I waited for him to pick up his call. He picked up on the second ring.
âWho am I speaking with?â He asked flatly and I frowned. Didnât he have my number again? Or did I dial someone else?
I removed the phone from my ear. It was his name. It was his voice. My frown deepened as I put the phone to my ear once again. âDid you delete my number or something?â
âI needed to make sure that it was you I was really speaking to,â he answered. âI told you to tell me when you get home yesterday.â
âI wanted to,â I answered.
âThen why didnât you?â He asked.
âI didnât have the chance,â I answered.
âHow do you feel?â He asked with a sigh.
âMuch better, thanks,â I answered.
âYou havenât been resting much?â He asked.
âI have,â I assured him. âI just had quite a lot of things to do yesterday so I didnât have the chance to rest when I got home.â
âI almost got on a flight to come check on you, but your best friend, Jenny, assured me that you were okay,â he said.
âI am okay,â I assured him. âIâm very fine. I just needed to rest a bit.â
âWell do that. Okay?â He said.
âI will, I promise,â I answered. âI miss you,â I added quietly.
âI think I miss you more,â he replied. âNah, I definitely miss you more.â
I chuckled. âIâll speak to you later,â I told him and then hung up.
âUgh. You lover birds annoy me sometimes.â
I almost jumped out of my bed at Jennyâs voice that came out of nowhere. Where the heck was she?
âOops, did I scare you?â She asked in an innocent voice as she sat up on the floor, staring at me from lowered lashes.
âNo you didnât scare me,â I answered flatly and ran my hands through my hair.
âLies. I scared you,â she murmured.
âYou wish,â I answered, rolling my eyes. âDid you sleep on the floor?â
âYep,â she answered and nodded. âI didnât want to make you feel inconvenience on the bed so I decided to sleep on the floor instead. Donât worry, I donât have body pains. And Yes, Iâm fine. Very fine.â
âWhat makes you think I care about all that you just said?â I asked, raising a brow at her.
âYou do, whether you admit it or not,â she answered. âAnyways, as I said earlier, you lovebirds annoy me a lot.â
âFinally you know how I feel when youâre rambling about Ronan,â I shot back with a roll of my eyes, swinging my legs down the edge of the bed and then getting up from the bed.
âI see youâve had too much rest,â she answered, staring at me with pursed lips. âAnyways everyone has had breakfast and Simon even came to check up on you but you were asleep so he has gone back to his room. Your mom has gone to church and your dad has gone to work.â
âSarah?â I asked, taking off my clothes and wrapping the towel around my body. I loosened my bun and ran my hands through my already tangled hair.
âGone to church with your mom,â she answered with a shrug.
âYou really didnât need to come, Jenny,â I said, staring at her. âYou have a class early tomorrow morning. And yet youâre here. You know you canât meet up with the class tomorrow.â
âI wasnât wanting to meet up with the class, Soph. Truth be told, this is an excuse to skip all my classes for tomorrow and take my much needed rest,â she a sweeed with a grin.
âReally now?â I asked with a raised eyebrow. âYou wound me. I thought you were here because you really cared for me.â
âMe?â She choked out and then scoffed. âCare for you? No, Sophia. I donât,â she deadpanned and I gasped while she added. âYou just happened to be a means to an end, sadly.â
I chuckled and shook her head. âReally, I donât know what kind of friend you are. I donât even know how we managed to become friends because youâre the weirdest bitch there is. Really.â
âMe? Weird?â She gasped and snorted. âI assure you, youâre the weird one.â
âWhatever,â I answered as I walked to the bathroom and took my bath. I came out after bathing and did all my necessities then oiled and combed my hair before dressing in shorts and a shirt.
âWhat will you do tomorrow when we get back?â She asked with a raised eyebrow.
âI donât know. Go to class, of course,â I answered casually with a shrug. What else did she expect?
âSo you mean you would be going straight to class tomorrow?â She asked and I nodded slowly.
âThatâs exactly what I meant.â
âugh..why donât you just stay in the hostel with me and rebel?â She whined.
âRebel?â I asked and scoffed. âAnd you consider yourself a rebel?â
âWhatever. You get my point anyways. Donât go to class,â she tried to persuade. I shook my head. âWhy not?â
âJust stay with me,â she whined. âIf you go, then Iâd be forced to go too.â
I sighed then grinned at her. âWell rhYz exactly what I want. For you to go to school. Donât be lazy,â I laughed.
âI canât believe Exams are starting soon,â Jenny mumbled, shoving an handful of fries into her mouth and then my ching slowly.
âYeah, me too,â I answered with a sigh.
âSo we need to start reading. Like very very soon. Tomorrow weâre going to school. Iâm not sure I can handle all the stress Iâm going to be getting during the exams,â she complained.
âWell Iâve been reading. Itâs you who have been relaxing,â I answered with a shrug. âAnd talking to Ronan.â
She shot me a glare and ten rolled her eyes. âDo you think I should just drop out?â She asked, raising her brows as she looked at me. I frowned at her.
âItâs your choice. I canât decide for you,â I answered. âBut youâre joking, right?â
âIâm not,â she said, shaking her head.
âYouâre not? Are you fucking kidding me?â I asked, raising my brows.
âNo. Actually,â Jenny looked left and right. âI think I might be pregnant.â
I stared at her for a full minute, and burst into laughter. âYou make the best jokes at times.â
âThis is not a joke though,â she answered flatly. âI wouldnât be joing about this sort of thing.â
âItâs not a joke, then what is it?â I asked with a raised eyebrow. âYou have to be fucking kidding me! Pregnant?!â
âShhh!â She slapped her palm over my mouth. âYou do know that your brother is still inside this house, right? He can tell anyone so fucking keep your voice low!â
I shoved her palm away from my mouth and then glared t her. âYouâre the one who keeps telling me to be careful and use protection and the pills! And yet youâre the one telling me youâre pregnant?â I whisper-yelled. âYouâve got to be fucking kidding me, Jenny!â
She sighed and shook her head. âIâm not.â
âWell have you told the father?â I asked and she shoo her head again. âWho do you think the father is?â
She shot me a look. âWhat do you mean who do I think? Of course itâs Ronan! Who else? Do you think Iâve been sleeping around?â
I shook my head and sighed. âOf course not. Iâm sorry. That just came out wrongly,â I answered, shaking my head again.
âItâs just a speculation. I canât be sure yet,â she answered.
âWhat made you suspect that you were pregnant in the first place?â I asked softly.
âI missed my period last week and it still hasnât come,â she answered, her shoulders dropping.
âAnd youâre just telling me?â I squeaked out. âWhy are you just telling me? Didnât you trust me enough?â
âWhat? Of course not. You know I do trust you. Itâs just that I wanted to wait a while before jumping into conclusions,â she explained with a grim smile.
âAnd why are you so calm about this?â I asked, raising a brow. âAre you joking with me right now, Jenny?â
âNo of course not,â she shook her head. âBesides, what good is fear?â
I got up from the couch and snatched the bowl of fries from her hand, going to drop it on the dining table before walking back to her and running my hands through my hair. âWe should go to a store and get the kit,â I said.
âNo I donât trust those things. We should go to the hospital instead and get the blood test done,â she replied.
âHospital? Anyone can see us and tell my parents!â I glared at her.
âWe can go to a lab not far from my house then. Thatâs better?â She asked with a raised eyebrow, getting up from the couch.
âMuch better. And the way youâre just so calm about everything is so unsettling,â I told her. It really was unsettling, like she couldnât care less what happened to her if she really was pregnant.
âLike I said, thereâs really no point in getting scared,â she answered as we left the house. âAre you hungry? Should we get something to eat?â
I narrowed my eyes at her âWe just had fries,â I reminded her.
âI know I know,â she answered and sighed. âBut it doesnât matter. Iâm still hungry.â
âYouâre definitely not having pregnancy cravings. Not at this stage, it still early,â I murmured. âAre you trying to scare me?â
âNo. Why would I?â She asked with a raised eyebrow.
âYouâre acting really strange,â I murmured. âShould we board a cab or do we have to trek all the way to your place?â
âWe can just trek and like catch up with everything,â she answered and grinned at me. âWhat do you think of baby names?â
âBaby names?â I asked with a scoff. âAre you really being serious right now?â
âCome on. Indulge me. What do you think of baby names? Like, baby names for girls? Or what if itâs a boy?â She raised her brow, her eyes bright.
I sighed, shaking my head. I was trying to be serious and yet here she was deciding to be all playful with me. It really wasnât funny. But at the same time, picking out baby names did seem fun.
âIs Ronan such a great guy that you want to have a baby for him?â I asked, laughing lightly and shaking my head.
She just grinned at me. âSo what if I name my baby girl Rina?â She asked. âOr Roman for a boy?â
âIs it strictly âRâ names?â I asked with a light laugh.
The conversation kept going until we reached the lab and we went in. After waiting for a while, the lab technician came out.
âHi. Iâm here for a pregnancy test. Blood test,â she specified.
The doctor told us how much that would cost and Jenny paid instantly.
The doctor took her into his office and after a few minutes, she came out, holding a tissue paper to her arm.
âDid it hurt?â I asked her and she shook her head. âItâs just a needle.â She answered.
âYou should probably tell Ronan about this,â I told her and she shook her head firmly.
âNo! Are you trying to break us apart?â She exclaimed.
âBreak you apart? Why would telling Ronan about this break you and him apart?â I asked, feeling confused.
âBecause heâs not ready for something like this. He might get scared and pull back and I donât want that,â she answered harshly and I raised my hands in surrender.
âAnd if youâre really pregnant? Will you get rid of it because Ronan might get scared and pul back?â I asked.
âLet me think of that after I see the test results,â she murmured, folding her arms stubbornly. I shook my head and sighed.
The doctor came out a few minutes later with a paper and smiled at her. She gave her the paper and we stared at what was written in it. The test was negative. She wasnât pregnant.
