The One Night Stand Turns Out To Be My Professor
40
Ianâs POV
I ran my hands through my hair in frustration as I stared at my brother who was standing insde my house, a glare on his face directed at me.
âHello brother,â he said s he took a step forward, surveying the house âI can see you have done quite a lot hereâ¦and settle in comfortably with your new life,â he added as he looked around the house.
âWhat are you doing here?â I asked, my eyes narrowing on him. I couldnât understand, how did he find me? How did he manage to get a hold of where I was living? I chose this location mainly because no one would have thought of it, or wa I being too obvious, living in a secluded area like this?
I rubbed my head in frustration. This wasnât what I was expecting this morning. When that doorbell rang, I had been expecting to see Mike or anyone else, but not him. Not Jacob.
âWe have a lot to discuss, brother,â he answered flatly, instantly making himself at home as he worked his way around my house and walked to the kitchen, opening the freezer and taking out a glass containing red liquid. I narrowed my eyes on him.
âYou freeze your stash of blood?â He asked with a raised eyebrow as he grabbed a glass cup and poured himself a glass. I frowned as he took a sip them spat it right out. âStrawberry juice? Seriously? Thatâs what you take now?â
I narrowed my eyes down on him, waiting for him to get straight to his point and stop disturbing me.
âI will not like to repeat myself one more time, brother. Why are you here?â I asked, taking a step forward at him.
âWe have a lot to discuss,â he said through gritted teeth. One moment he was standing in the kitchen, the next he was in front of me, engulfing me in a bear hug that I didnât even expect at all.
âIâve missed you so much,â he murmured, squeezing me and then letting me go after a while. âI didnât think Iâd see you again.â
âYou came all the way here just to tell me youâve missed me?â I asked, relaxing a little as we both took a seat on one of the couch.
âNo. Like I said, we have much to discuss. But I just wanted to tell you that first,â he answered with a sigh. âIan you have to come back. Itâs so hard ruling in your absence. You were trained for this but I wasnât. This is not something I am used to. Iâm the one supposed to be living this life while you rule.â
âYouâre their king now, suck it up,â I snapped.
âYes, Iâm their king now but when I get tired of being their king Iâll just abscond the throne and anyone who wants will take it up,â he answered flatly. âAnd you know what that person would do first? Heâd come for us first. Kill us and hang our head in the throne room as a prize for all to see.â
âThat wonât be happening,â I answered. âBecause you wonât abscond the throne.â
âI wonât, because youâll come back with me and claim your right,â he answered flatly. âLook, letâs not beat around the bush, Iâm not here to kiss your ass or anything. Iâm here to tell you that you need to take back your position or I swear on our fathers life that I will leave and none of you will ever find me. Ever,â he threatened.
I narrowed my eyes at him but let that slide. âWhy are you really here?â I asked.
He gave me a grim smile. âLike I said earlier, we have a lot to discuss. First of all, some people are rebelling against me because Iâm not their rightful king. You are,â he murmured.
âYouâre their king. You should know how to deal with a rebellion,â I answered flatly. âKill those instigating it.â
âKilling them is not the solution. Another person will just assume their leadership position. Jeez, had this human world clouded your sense of judgement?â He snapped.
âWatch your tone,â I answered, crossing my arms.
âThe lycanthropes have been attacking us left and right,â he said.
âThatâs why we have the witches,â I answered and he just shook his head.
âA lot have changed since you left, Ian. The realm is not the same as it used to be anymore. Itâs not the same one you once knew,â he said.
âWhat do you mean?â I asked with a raised eyebrow.
âThe witches have backed out of our agreement with them,â he answered, giving me a grim smile.
âThe witches backed out of the treaty and you just let them leave?â I barked, getting up from the couch instantly..This was no longer funny. I wasnât hearing anything that was pleasant to my ears.
âWe canât kill them,â he answered through gritted teeth. âWeâve tried to threaten them in every way we can but right now they have the support of the lycanthropes so theyâre no longer scared of us.â
âAn alliance between the lycanthropes and the witches? Jeez, Jacob. Youâve been doing a really terrible job ruling!â I bellowed. âAnd what of Lucian? Heâs your advicer for fuckâs sake!â
âHe was the one who advice me to leave them alone,â he answered.
âLeave them alone?â I repeated with a scoff. I was already getting irritated. âHe told you to leave them alone and you left them alone? Are you that stupid?â I asked with narrowed eyes. âAnd no that youâve left them alone, what good has that dome you?â
He ran his hands through his hair and looked away.
âSo now we have a situation with the lycanthropes and another situation with the witches. We also have the rebellion on our hands. What exactly have you been doing? Youâre their fucking leader, sometimes you should remind them once in a while that youâre their leader for a reason! Make them fear you!â I yelled. I wanted to shake the sense I to him. âThe lycanthropes, the witches and a fucki g rebellion under a year?!â
âOh itâs not just that,â he added with narrowed eyes.
I groaned, rubbing my face and pacing around the house. âWhat do you mean?â
âYour fiance. Your betrothed. Your girlfriend, Freya,â he answered grimly. âSheâs missing.â
âWhat do you mean sheâs missing?â I repeated, raising a brow. I couldnât believe what I was hearing.
âExactly what I mean. She is missing. Didnât you hear me well?â He snapped. âShe hasnât been in the realm for a month right now and I suspect that sheâs here, which has something to do with you!â
âWith me?â I snapped back.
âYes, Ian! With you! The cause of all this problems is you! It isnât just me, youâve played a part in them too! First you absconded from your wedding with Freya and left the realm all together! We didnât hear from you! And then all of a sudden Iâm getting an information that you marked an human girl coincidentally the same time the rebellion started, the lycanthropes gathered the courage to start attacking us and the witches backed out from the treaty?â He yelled. âAnd now Freya is missing. Youâre part of the reason all of this is happening for Godâs sake! You fucked up! What were you thinking?!â
âSo you know about her,â I repeated quietly, my voice turning cold.
âOf course I know about your little human whore!â He snapped back. I clenched my fists at how he addressed her but I forced myself to remain calm.
âAre you the one who has been attacking her?â I asked quietly, taking a step forward. âYouâre the one who has been sending men to kill her?â
âJeez, what do you mean? I only just found out yesterday!â He growled. âTrust me, Ian, if I was the one trying to kill her then she would be dead by now.â
I wanted to punch him in the face for his words but I forced myself to remain calm. I had to remain calm. I had to deal with this calmly.
âAnd I donât know why you have a soft spot for her. Fine I get that you werenât in your right senses when you marked her. You were pussy-whipped and thatâs fine. I think I would have been too-â
I growled but he ignored me and continued talking.
â-but youâve had your fun with her and itâs time you get rid of her. If youâre the one who has been protecting her then stop protecting her. Let her get rid of her. Once and for all. Come back to the realm. Get married to Freya. Do your duty and be done with it! Take your rightful place and bring everything back to order!â
âSheâs mine and if anyone hurts her-â
âFreya is the one you should have marked!â
âAnd I marked the girl I loved instead and if anyone dared to hurt her-â
The front door pushed open aggressively and Sophia stood there, tears streaming down her eyes as her gaze darted from me to Jacob and then back to me. âWhat the fuck is gong on here?â
