The Lady Nun Vows Revenge by Caroline Rowland
fixed on hers. âDidnât I already say? Weâre friends. Eliza. Thereâs no need to Eliza froze for a moment, then broke into a smile. âAlright, I get it?
Nolan raised an eyebrow, his gaze still locked on her, as if unwilling to let it slide.
Eliza sighed in mock defeat. âFine. I understand now.â
It seemed even the way she referred to herself had changed.
Eliza suddenly noticed something as she thought about it.
Nolan rarely referred to himself as Prince Nolan when speaking to her. She couldnât quite pinpoint when the habit began.
However, she went along with it since Nolan chose to act that way.
The nightâs still young, and the Light Show is in full swing. Serenity, why not stay up with me and have a merry time together?â
said Nolan.
Nolan and Eliza melted into the lively crowd of the Light Show, surrounded by glowing lights and the cheerful buzz of the festival.
They wandered down the street, stopping to browse and shop wherever something caught their eye. Before long, Nolanâs hands were full.
They bought the water lanterns they picked out together, the snacks, and other thingsâone thing after another.
At first, Eliza carried a few things, but before long, Nolan had taken everything off her hands. By the time they reached the halfway point of the street, his arms were practically overflowing Eliza hesitated, feeling a little guilty about letting Nolan carry everything. However, before she could act, someone from the crowd. stepped forward and took all the items from Nolanâs hands.
âTake those back to the carriage and store them properly, said Nolan.
âYes, sir With his hands now free, Nolan turned to Eliza with a smile and said, âLetâs keep going. Thereâs still so much to see. How about checking out the next street?â
âSure!â said Eliza.
At that point, Eliza felt completely at ease, without hesitation or burden.
Nolan and Eliza wandered through several streets. By the end, Eliza was starting to feel a bit worn out.
âItâs been ages since Iâve had a chance to just wander around like this,â said Eliza, laughing.
Elizaâs mood was light and carefree tonight.
She had always been so tense, always on guard. When was the last time sheâd felt this free?
âDid you have fun?â asked Nolan, turning to look at her.
Eliza nodded firmly. âYes, I did. Iâm happy.â
She truly meant it. She was genuinely happy.
She felt she hadnât been that happy for a long time. Maybe it was not just in this life but in the last one, too, Then letâs Nolanâs words trailed off as he suddenly sensed something. His sharp gaze swept toward the nearby crowd, his expression turning sey.
âWhatâs the matter?â asked Eliza Eliza noticed his unusual behavior and followed his gaze, but couldnât see anything unusual.
Nolan shook his head lightly âItâs nothing. Do you want to keep looking around?â
1/2 1:26 PM Eliza glanced at her feet and decided not to push herself. âNo. I Letâs head to the river and release the water lanterns. Itâs getting late.â
Chapter 331 After releasing the wishing lanterns, it would be time to head back.
âAlright.â Nolan nodded obediently.
Nolan walked beside her. They strolled toward the river.
As they passed through a dense crowd, Nolan fell half a step behind Eliza. From within his sleeve, a dagger slid into his hand.
With a swift, silent motion, he plunged it into the side of an unassuming man who had been about to lunge forward.
The blade sank in with a muted sound, barely audible amidst the bustling crowd.
Nolanâs movements were precise and controlled, and the dagger instantly pierced the manâs flesh. All the sounds were absorbed by the crowd, ensuring Eliza remained completely unaware. By the time he brushed past the man, a shadowy figure had stepped in to quietly remove the lifeless body, leaving no trace behind.
Nolanâs eyes darkened with irritation. He thought, âCouldnât Eliza and I even enjoy a peaceful evening without trouble finding us again and again?â
The first assassin fell silently. Nolanâs sharp gaze swept through the crowd, quickly identifying several more targets.
He gestured subtly behind him, and his men swiftly moved forward past them.
