Chapter 342
The Lady Nun Vows Revenge by Caroline Rowland
342 Chapter 342 342.Chapter 342 âWait...â Eliza thought, something clicking in her mind as she revisited the issue.
Her gaze landed on Fletcher opposite her. âThere seems to be something off about Fletcher.â
The Snow Lotus was his gift, meant specifically for the king. If she hadnât intervened, it would already be in the kingâs hands, and that little black bug might have succeeded in its attack.
âIs he trying to assassinate His Majesty?â Elizaâs face paled in shock. She couldnât believe Fletcher would dare to go this far. She wondered if he was working with those foreign infiltrators. How else could so many of them show up in Hasen City, let alone infiltrate the Imperial Palace?
Her eyes darkened, a dangerous glint flickering within them.
She pondered, âIf Fletcher really is involved, then what about the Stonor family, his ally for the day? Do they know about this? Or are they in on it too?â
âDonât overthink it for now.â Nolanâs voice sounded again. âWith the Snow Lotus already in your hands, even if you accuse them, theyâll deny it outright. They might even turn the tables on you.â
Eliza nodded at his words.
After all, Sophie would jump at any chance to target her. She could be falsely accused.
âDonât worry about the rest. Iâll handle things here. I still have to report to His Majesty later. Once the party ends, head straight home. Iâll arrange a separate carriage for you.â
Nolanâs concern was clear. The fact that someone had tampered with Elizaâs seat meant she was one of their targets.
By now, her carriage had probably been tampered with.
But Eliza shook her head. âDonât worry about me. Youâve got enough on your plate. Their parasites are no match for my spiders.â
Her little spiders had already sent her more updates. Every black bug in the hall had been dealt with, and the spiders had even gathered the remains for her research.
Hence, Eliza wasnât the least bit afraid.
One thing was certain. Those black bugs didnât stand a chance against her spiders.
Seeing her so selfâassured, Nolan felt a bit more at ease.
âAlright, just be careful on your way back.â
Under the table, Nolan discreetly pulled a finely crafted dagger from his sleeve and handed it to her, ensuring no one else noticed.
Eliza felt her friendship with Nolan had taken a step forward, and her tone became more casual.
When she saw the dagger, she couldnât help but grin cheekily as she asked, âIs this... prepared for me?â
The dagger had a slim, narrow hilt and a sharp, elegant blade. It was clearly customâmade, not suited for Nolanâs large hands but perfectly fitting for a womanâs delicate grip.
To be honest, the moment Eliza saw it, she felt it was made for her.
She coughed inwardly and thought, âI seem to be a bit full of myself. If Iâm wrong, this is going to be so embarrassing.â
But Nolan would never let her feel embarrassed. A faint smile appeared on his handsome face. âYes, itâs specially made for you.
Only you can use it.â
Not just any womanâonly Eliza.
Heâd secretly measured Elizaâs hand and had it customâmade, perfectly sized for her hand.
Nolan instructed her, âIt comes with straps and a sheath. Keep it close, and donât hesitate to use it if youâre in danger.â
Eliza nodded seriously. âDonât worry.â
With the troublemakers subdued and the bugs cleared out, the party proceeded smoothly and ended without incident.
Once the king and the Empress Dowager left, Nolan stood up, and Eliza immediately made her way out without hesitation.
One advantage of her current status was that, apart from the king, the Empress Dowager, and Nolan, no one else ranked above her.
So once those three departed, she could leave freely without anyone stopping her.
Just as she stepped out of the hall, a group of imperial guards appeared, surrounding everyone still inside.
âSeveral assassins have infiltrated the palace today, carrying poisonous items. By order of His Highness, no one present is 1/2 342 Chapter 342 permitted to leave. Immediate inspection will commence. Violators shall be executed.â
