Chapter 1101
Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook
Chapter 1101:
? ? ? ? ?
However, because Mitchel had carried Raegan that fateful night, the joint damage went unnoticed.
The subsequent severe blood loss aggravated his condition, culminating in the debilitating joint disease. This series of events had snowballed into a series that had likely crippled the man.
Erick had been hesitant about how to bring it up with Raegan.
Although Raegan seemed cheerful, Erick was worried that discovering her indirect role in Mitchel's disability would overwhelm her with guilt.
Erick remembered Mitchel's silence when he first woke up and was told of his condition. He hadn't said anything for a long time.
Given Mitchel's high status, which required him to attend numerous social functions, his sudden disability was sure to provoke murmurs and stares.
Erick was consumed with remorse. He wished he had foreseen the possible complications during Raegan's birth, which could have prevented her troubles.
In the end, Mitchel had weakly insisted that Erick keep the details of the blood transfusion from Raegan. Since the procedure had been a success, Mitchel saw no reason to burden Raegan with that knowledge.
I didn't want to add to his guilt.
Erick was tormented by his own feelings of guilt. A few days earlier, he had taken the opportunity to bring the twins over for Mitchel to see.
In his rush to save Raegan, Mitchel had barely glanced at the twins.
Now, as he looked at them, Mitchel's blank expression softened into a faint smile. They were his children, after all. How could he not feel affection for them?
Except that at that critical moment, Mitchel's main concern had been Raegan, the children's mother. He was aware that the severe loss of blood could have fatal consequences.
Mitchel had weighed his options. Without Raegan, what would his own life be worth? He couldn't bear the thought of losing her and was determined to stay by her side.
After spending some time with the babies, Mitchel handed them back to Erick and spoke calmly. âRaegan is afraid I might challenge her for custody of the children. Assure her that I have no intention of doing so. If necessary, I am willing to sign any document confirming this, or have Matteo prepare one for you to review.â
Erick's feeling of guilt towards Mitchel had become deeply aggravated. He deeply regretted his previous misunderstanding towards Mitchel.
Erick believed that no one could love Raegan more deeply than Mitchel.
"Actually, you should know that Raegan, if she finds out that your condition was due to you helping her, she would surely forgive you."
Erick realized that he could not allow himself to be selfish. Despite his protective feelings toward his sister, he could not allow Mitchel to make such a sacrifice without recognition. He could not stand by and do nothing.
Now, Erick sincerely hoped that Raegan and Mitchel could reconcile.
There was nothing more satisfying than a family reunited.
Mitchel was silent for a moment before refusing. âI don't want him to choose me out of guilt or pity.â
As Erick remained silent, Raegan expressed her confusion, âIs Mitchel really that busy? âHe was the one who brought Eloise here, and yet he barely seems to pay attention to her.â
Erick hesitated before answering: "He hasn't been feeling well lately, he was recently hospitalized."
Raegan jumped. âHeâs not feeling well?â But he's not here on business? Wasn't he recovering from a leg injury?
