Chapter 1128

Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook

Chapter 1128:

? ? ? ? ?

Only Mitchell's anguished cries and the sound of his urgent actions echoed through the empty halls. It seemed that the earlier sounds might have been just an illusion.

However, Mitchell remained convinced that Raegan was really inside.

He repeatedly knocked on the door lock, only succeeding in ringing it, without getting any response from inside.

I have realized that this strategy was useless.

Seeing a fire hose cabinet nearby, containing an emergency fire extinguisher and an ax, his expression turned serious as he approached it.

Raegan was overwhelmed by the cold. Her consciousness drifted in and out.

In her delirious state, she felt that Mitchel had come to her rescue, driven by the banging sounds coming from outside.

On impulse, he reached out and knocked on the door, hoping to signal his presence to Mitchel.

Exhaustion overwhelmed her, however, and she struggled to keep her eyes open.

The cold had completely numb Raegan. All she felt was a deep fatigue that enveloped her.

His hand fell weakly to his side as he teetered on the edge of unconsciousness.

Just as he was about to lose consciousness, Mitchel made a large hole in the door. He quickly cut the lock and the door opened.

He found Raegan curled up on the floor, wrapped in the dark blue blanket Mitchel had used earlier.

Suddenly, with a loud snap, power came back to the entire building.

Looking at Raegan's fragile, pale figure on the ground brought a sharp pain to Mitchel's heart.

He knelt down and carefully lifted her up, her body so cold and stiff that her legs wouldn't bend. She was still breathing, and her brows were furrowed in distress.

Mitchel took a moment to compose himself and carefully stood up.

Without the cane, he felt unsteady.

He carefully shifted his weight onto his stronger leg, bent down to pick up his cane, and leaned it against the wall.

Struggling with his own physical limitations, Mitchel couldn't carry Raegan in his arms. Instead, he let her fall onto his shoulder, taking most of her weight, and used one hand to steady himself with his cane as they made their way to the elevator.

Inside the elevator, I pressed the button for the first floor.

When the elevator doors opened, Matteo was already there with an ambulance crew and a stretcher, ready to provide assistance.

The medical team quickly took care of Raegan, moving her to the stretcher as Mitchel watched, following them outside with heavy steps.

Matteo, trailing behind, was silent, his face etched with guilt. It had been his invitation to Raegan that had resulted in her accidental confinement in Mitchel's office, in the midst of soaring temperatures. If Mitchel had not found Raegan, and if it had been assumed that she was not in Mitchel's office, the consequences could have been dire, beyond any hope of timely rescue.
