Chapter 1173
Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook
Chapter 1173:
? ? ? ? ?
Henley paused, surprised by her cleverness. He hadn't anticipated such a preemptive move on her part. If her statement was true, kidnapping her would be fraught with complications.
His lawyers had advised him that if he could stay out of trouble for a month, they could handle any legal matters that arose in Ambrosia.
Watching Henley mull over his options, Raegan sensed he was weighing the risks of going ahead. She sat down in a chair and suggested with a hint of defiance, âMr. Brooks, why don't you give it a try? I bet your plan won't even leave the city. Do you believe me?â
Henley remained silent, pondering his words. After a long silence, he stepped back, laughing coldly. âRaegan, you are really smart. âTogether, we could rule the world.â
Raegan's heart calmed, realizing the immediate threat had passed.
Within moments, he had ruled out the idea of ââkidnapping her, mainly because of the significant complications it posed.
âMr. Brooks, I have no desire to conquer the world, but there is an old saying that goes, 'Those who practice injustice will ultimately bring about their own downfall. ââ Raegan continued, âI suggest you ponder these words before you act in the future. Perhaps you will gather some good deeds. Perhaps it will save you from a few stints in boiling oil in hell.â
Henley laughed heartily, his arrogance nonetheless. âRaegan, as long as I want this, no one can catch me.â
Henley's perfectionism had often been his saving grace. Combined with a lawyer skilled in navigating legal loopholes, his arrogant statements contained no trace of guilt.
Raegan, tired of his bluster, sneered disdainfully. âWe'll see. âMy only wish in life is to see you brought to justice for your misdeeds.â
Henley felt a flicker of regret. Ever since he reached adulthood, things had gone his way. When they hadn't, he'd manipulated circumstances to his advantage. Even if he might lose the battle to take over the Dixon Group, it was a minor setback. He had plenty of funds to start over abroad. The one conquest that eluded him, however, was Raegan. What a pityâ¦
Suddenly, the door was flung open with a resounding âBang!â
Mitchel stormed in and landed a solid punch to Henley's face, sending him reeling back.
Mitchel moved to strike again, but Henley grabbed his wrist, his voice cold with menace. âMr. Dixon, I suppose you donât want to spend your wedding day at the police station.â
Mitchell clenched his fist but restrained himself from striking again, standing tall as he issued an ultimatum: âDo you want to leave on your own or should I have someone escort you out?â The police will be here soon.â
Mitchel had already called the police after receiving a text from Raegan. However, since it was his wedding day, I preferred to avoid a scene. Ideally, Henley would leave quietly and be arrested outside.
Henley smoothed down his disheveled suit and smirked. âSince itâs clear Iâm not welcome here, Iâm leaving.â He paused before leaving and looked deeply at Raegan. âRaegan, I will live my life without regrets.â
Mitchel's hand balled into a fist again, ready to strike, but Raegan quickly grabbed his arm, whispering, âDon't let him provoke you. âToday is our wedding day.â She was determined not to let Henley ruin her ceremony.
âSomeone!â Raegan's voice was low but firm. âPlease escort this gentleman out.â
The bodyguards quickly entered the room. Henley, keeping his composure, shrugged. âI can go out by myself.â Then he walked out with his posture upright.
Mitchel watched Henley leave, feeling a mixture of relief and distrust, and quickly instructed his security team to keep an eye on Henley and prevent any further mischief.
âRaegan, are you okay?â Mitchel asked, his voice worried after giving his orders.
Security at the wedding was tight. Henley could have infiltrated it, but kidnapping Raegan was impossible. Henley should be grateful that he hadn't escalated the situation. An attempted kidnapping might have forced Mitchel to respond defensively, leading to unpredictable results.
Mitchel was determined to make Henley regret any interruption, but on his wedding day, he did not want violence.
Raegan smiled reassuringly. âWhy would your threats scare me? âIâm not that fragile.â
