Chapter 1227

Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook

Chapter 1227:

? ? ? ? ?

“Very well. Nicole left immediately, driving the car Roscoe had arranged for her.”

Nicole arrived at the villa and found the guards waiting for her at the gate. They let her in without much resistance.

As Nicole was about to go upstairs, she saw Jarrod waiting for her upstairs. Her anger flared and she couldn't help but slap him hard. “Jarrod, are you even human? How could you do this to Austin?”

She raised her hand to strike him again, but Jarrod grabbed her wrist and said scornfully, “So you've decided to go back? Haven’t you been getting too involved with your lover?”

Nicole rolled her eyes. Jarrod was being completely unreasonable, blaming her when he was the one who had stopped her from seeing Austin.

Nicole was furious, but her concern for Austin outweighed her anger, and she didn't want to make things worse with Jarrod. “Let me go, Jarrod. “I have to get Austin to the hospital,” she insisted.

Surprisingly, Jarrod didn't argue with her, he loosened his grip and let her up.

Pushing open the door, Nicole found Austin lying on the bed, with the nanny beside him.

“How is Austin?” Nicole's voice caught in her throat as she looked at the fragile boy.

The nanny turned to Nicole and gently squeezed her hand. “Miss, don't worry. Her temperature is already going down. The doctor just gave her a shot to bring down her fever.”

Only then did Nicole notice that Austin had fever-reducing patches on his forehead and armpits. His face seemed more relaxed, his expression less worried as he slept.

“What happened?” Nicole asked, confused. Wasn't Jarrod against taking Austin to the doctor?

For years, whenever Nicole heard that Austin was sick, she couldn't sleep or eat properly. Even though she and Austin didn't spend much time together and emotional distance often kept them from getting close, she was always very worried about him. She worried that she wouldn't have enough time to watch him grow up.

"It was Mr. Schultz who arranged the doctor's appointment," the nanny explained.

She had also thought that Jarrod wouldn't allow it, but after she made the call, Jarrod surprisingly agreed and had the doctor come in to treat Austin's fever.

The nanny, who had accompanied Austin on similar episodes over the years, recognized the doctor's competence.

Within moments, the doctor identified Austin's heart problem, gave him a fever-reducing injection and applied fever-reducing patches.

After leaving, the doctor seemed to have shared something with Jarrod, as the latter's expression became more serious when he returned to check on Austin before leaving again.

Hearing the nanny's story, Nicole realized that Jarrod was using Austin's illness to manipulate his return. That damn bastard! Just as she suspected, he was willing to exploit his own son for his own benefit.

That's why Nicole had hidden Austin for years, afraid he would become a pawn in Jarrod's game.

She hated Jarrod to the core, but she stayed by Austin's side, watching over his health.

At dusk, Austin briefly woke up.

Seeing Nicole, Austin stretched out his small hand with a hint of sadness and whispered hoarsely, “Mommy, a hug…”

Nicole was surprised. Austin often clung to Roscoe, but he was rarely so needy around her, tending to display more mature behavior.
