Chapter 1357
Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook
Chapter 1357:
? ? ? ? ?
Stars danced before Nicole's eyes and her head spun. For a brief moment, his thoughts went blank.
Although she had been optimistic, deep down Nicole was not sure the plan would work. In the worst case, they would both die.
Luckily, they had succeeded. They had come out alive.
Even though the man had moved, he did not let go of Nicole's hand.
Exhausted by the order, Nicole was oblivious to the small details.
He was just glad they both survived.
Lying there, still holding on to the man's hand, Nicole lifted her up in a sign of victory. "We did it!" The happiness was deep and genuine, like that of the victors in a hard battle.
At that moment, the firing of an ambulance was heard.
The rescue had arrived.
The truck in front had gotten help and called an ambulance as soon as possible.
The medical team arrives and quickly places Nicole on one stretcher and the man on another.
Nicole felt a surge of joy, and as she was taken away in the ambulance, she turned to look at the man, intending to thank him once again.
At that moment, she saw the man's face clearly, now clean. She noticed his thick eyebrows, his dark eyes and his thin lips.
It was none other than Jarrod.
Suddenly, Nicole's words of thanks caught in her throat. How could it be him? How could it be...?
A great wave of despair washed over her. It was such a cruel joke. She had unintentionally saved her own enemy⦠She cursed silently. It seemed like a joke of fate.
At the same time, Jarrod realized that Nicole had recognized him. Badly injured and struggling after inhaling smoke, he was unable to speak.
His dark eyes met Nicole's, filled with a mix of emotions she had never experienced before.
He was even more stunned and confused than Nicole. He understood that Nicole had not recognized him before and was only trying to save him.
He had insisted and even risked his own life to save a stranger in his eyes. How could anyone be so selflessly foolishâ¦
The ambulance doors closed, preventing them from seeing each other.
Nicole was overwhelmed by the harshness of reality. Why was Jarrod here? Why had he come to rescue her? Why had she ended up saving Jarrod?
She couldn't understand anything and had no energy to think any further. Slowly, she fell asleepâ¦
Jarrod slept for a whole day and night.
When he woke up, Alec was crying beside his bed. âMr. Schultz, you finally woke up⦠You scared the shit out of me!â
Jarrod rubbed his sore forehead, still groggy from sleep.
âMr. Schultz, I can't let you take that risk again! You were up against a gang of ruthless thieves, dozens of them. How could you take them alone?â Alec was truly scared this time.
