Chapter 1372

Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook

Chapter 1372:

? ? ? ? ?

Jarrod knew that even during that incident on the mountain road, if Nicole had recognized him, she might have hesitated.

It wasn't that she would hurt him, but her resolve would waver. Her heart was probably torn between resentment and reluctance to leave behind someone who had saved her and others. If she rescued him, she would hate herself.

If she left him, she would feel remorse. Either decision would weigh heavily on her.

Jarrod didn't understand how things had gotten so complicated. He knew Nicole would probably never forgive him, but he couldn't break free from her. Their situation was fraught with tension. Maybe it was time to make a decision.

Lost in his thoughts, Jarrod was interrupted once again by Alec. “Sir, Miss Hampton has arrived.”

Jarrod grimaced and said sternly, “Tell him to go away.”

Alec scratched his head and replied, "Miss Hampton brought Austin to see you."

“What?” Jarrod's face hardened. A moment later, he ordered, “Let them in!”

“Okay,” Alec said and walked out.

When Vicki entered, she was holding Austin by the hand. She seemed oblivious to Jarrod's stern look, greeting him with a warm smile.

“Jarrod, how are you? “Alec mentioned that you weren’t feeling well, so Austin insisted on visiting you.”

At first, Jarrod wanted to reprimand Vicki for taking Austin to the hospital, given Austin's fragile health. He had been searching tirelessly for a compatible organ donor for Austin, but had been unsuccessful. Despite his efforts, finding a compatible donor was a challenge.

However, seeing Austin's innocent face, Jarrod held back his critical words.

"Austin, how have you been feeling lately? Any aches or pains?"

Jarrod asked.

Austin gently shook his head and said, “No.”

“Okay.” Given Austin's reserved nature, Jarrod found himself at a loss for words after this question.

At that moment, Vicki knelt down and softly addressed Austin: “Austin, you said you had something you wanted to say, remember?”

Jarrod frowned.

Knowing Austin's shyness and reluctance to socialize with others, Jarrod was concerned that Vicki's guidance might overwhelm Austin. Just as he was about to intervene, Austin began to speak.

“Are you feeling better?” Austin's voice was calm and slightly nervous.

Austin paused, then seemed to gather his courage, opened his mouth again, and said, “Dad…”

The room fell into immediate silence, as if the softest sound resonated like thunder.

“What did you just say?” Jarrod was incredulous and kept his voice low. “Austin, could you repeat that?”

The intensity of Jarrod's reaction started Austin, causing him to back up behind Vicki, too scared to speak.
