Chapter 1379

Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook

Chapter 1379:

? ? ? ? ?

Don't you realize the magnitude of his sacrifices to rescue you, bearing wounds all over his body? The stick not only destroyed the surgeon's ten-hour needle work, but also wounded him emotionally.

Still, I have acted concerned for you. Yet, you seemed to wish for his death. How can you be so heartless, Miss Lawrence?

Alec's agitation increased as he posed the question once more. “Or perhaps I should ask him if he has a conscience. Even though Mr. Schultz owes everything to his family, after enduring countless disasters and hardships in their name, one would expect some sort of reciprocity.”

With a glimpse, Alec continued, “Not only has there been no reciprocation, however, but I have observed your boldness growing, your determination to undermine him increasing. But what does that matter? Allow me to make it clear to you. Ever since Mr. Schultz returned from abroad, he has been operating legally. Even under scrutiny, the result remains the same. Do you understand? I have been at his side for countless years and my loyalty is with him. A simple look from him obviates the need for explicit instructions and I take care of everything.”

Alec scoffed. “Miss Lawrence, do my words resonate with you?”

Nicole's thoughts were consumed by worry for Austin, preventing her from fully understanding Alec's message.

However, he did manage to understand something. He realized that all of the Schultz Group's nefarious activities of late had been orchestrated by Alec. Trying to implicate Jarrod in that light would be futile.

The more silent Nicole remained, the more Alec's anger intensified.

Nicole seemed ruthless and irrational to him.

Each person had a unique perspective, and Alec naturally couldn't understand Nicole's point of view.

Frustrated, Alec exclaimed, “Do you understand? I did all the dirty work! Mr. Schultz advised me to be restrained, but I resisted. The business world is brutal and you have to be ruthless to survive. I am willing to bear the burden for him. Even if someone attacks me, I will not flinch for Mr. Schultz’s future.”

In a cold tone, Alec asked, "Do you think I can stand by and watch you hurt Mr. Schultz?"

Finally, Nicole intervened: “Alec, I need to talk to Jarrod about Austin.”

She didn't have the strength to confront Jarrod, or even to consider it.

For now, his only concern was Austin's safety.

Unexpectedly, Alec laughed at this. “Miss Lawrence, are your thoughts now focused on your son? If there was genuine concern for him, you would have refrained from harming his biological father, right?”

He commented: "Mr. Schultz is an example of exceptional kindness. Had he been any other individual, his fate would have been sealed many times over."

Nicole asked anxiously, "Who's been taking care of Austin lately?"

Alec's opinion didn't concern him, but he sensed that his unwavering loyalty to Jarrod might protect Austin from harm. So I decided to ask.

Alec frowned and replied, “Miss Hampton has been attending to him.”

Nicole's heart sank as she said, "I want to see Austin. I'm standing at the door of his villa right now. Please ask Jarrod to allow me to visit him immediately. My fears for Austin's well-being remain."

Alec sneered. “What is there to worry about? Miss Hampton is caring for Austin admirably. Yesterday she accompanied him to meet Mr. Schultz. Under her tutelage, Austin addressed Mr. Schultz as ‘Papa.’ He excels at both caring and nurturing. Accordingly, Mr. Schultz intends to have their union. Be assured, Miss Lawrence, that you are cordially invited to witness their upcoming nuptials.”

Nicole's heart sank even further. Did Jarrod want to marry Vicki as soon as possible? Despite acknowledging Vicki's great help to Jarrod and her suitability as a future wife, the announcement still came as a shock.

Although Jarrod and Vicki had been cohabiting as a couple, the date of their wedding had been contingent on Nicole's appeal and the review of Austin's custody battle. Why this sudden urgency?

With their union, Nicole's chances of gaining custody of Austin would be further dimmed.
