Chapter 1489
Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook
Chapter 1489:
? ? ? ? ?
Jarrod displayed a distinct independence and resilience, but his deep affection for Nicole astonished Wayne. Jarrod's commitment had even extended to marriage, underscoring Nicole's considerable influence over him.
Sighing internally, Wayne regretted that Vicki didn't recognize this harsh reality. If Jarrod had been easily influenced, he wouldn't have had much value. If Jarrod was anything like the younger Wayne, with multiple spouses and numerous illegitimate children, he would hardly be a desirable partner.
Dealing with someone like Jarrod only presented two options. It was either to give up completely or to persevere, eliciting his sympathy. Causing harm to the woman he loved was a no-no.
This principle was simple and easy for Wayne to understand, but Vicki didn't get it, a clear case of being too close to discern properly.
Jarrod remained unfazed by Wayne's words, showing no hint of intimidation. He knew that Wayne would surely recognize an opportunity and take advantage of it if any sign of intimidation appeared on his part.
Jarrod kept his composure. âMr. Hampton, if anything unfortunate were to happen to you during your visit to the Schultz Group, rest assured that I will see to it that you have a proper send-off. âI will also âtake care ofâ your family.â
Jarrod's words were a veiled threat, delivered with precision and clarity. He generally avoided empty threats and lengthy debates, preferring direct business strategies and decisive action.
Wayne's expression changed. "Mr. Schultz, what exactly are you implying? Are you implying a threat against my family? What exactly do you mean by 'attend'? That's absurd."
Wayne knew full well that Jarrod was threatening him about his family, his threats tinged with surgical precision.
Wayne's fury was tangible as he bellowed, "You think I still care about my aging ship? If you're willing to give up everything just for that woman, I'll be beating my head against the doors of the Schultz Group! Let's see how the public reacts to the lavish funeral you said you'd give me."
Jarrod's composure only increased. âFeel free to try. But can you guarantee the well-being of your offspring, especially those outside your marriage? Are you really that sure?â
âWhat nonsense are you talking!â Wayne's voice trembled.
Jarrod, unfazed, replied, âI know of your three children at Ardleng alone, not to mention Melver and Nicholsy's. Your grandchildren are studying abroad, three of them, if I recall correctly. Do you really wish to abandon them, to miss their weddings and the births of their children?â He smiled with satisfaction. âIt's a prospect you would come to regret, wouldn't it?â
Wayne was surprised that Jarrod knew so well about his personal affairs. He realized that Jarrod had been anticipating this confrontation all along.
