Chapter 1502

Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook

Chapter 1502:

? ? ? ? ?

Nicole hadn't noticed Jarrod when she came home. Lately, Jarrod had been coming home late, caught up in Hampton family affairs, and sometimes he didn't come home at all, although he always informed Nicole of his whereabouts.

“I’ve been here since you arrived,” Jarrod replied.

Nicole was speechless. “Why didn't you say anything?” The realization that he had witnessed her change under the moonlight, however dim, washed over her with shame. Just thinking about it made her cheeks flush a deep red.

“A man like me, right here. What had you so distracted that you didn't even notice me?” Jarrod's voice had a playful tone as he came closer, his tall figure looming near the bed.

“Um, nothing, really,” Nicole mumbled in response.

Jarrod hummed a soft note and asked, “Where have you been today?”

“I went to visit my mom and Kamilah,” Nicole replied, deliberately omitting her encounters with Roscoe and Jamie.

Given Roscoe's tangled affairs with Doreen and the enigmatic presence of the woman experienced in witchcraft, she was sure that Jarrod would support Doreen without question. Jarrod, having few living relatives, had forged a strong bond with Doreen's family.

Nicole noticed Jarrod's unusual attention to Doreen, uncharacteristic of her usual indifference. It was obvious to Nicole that Jarrod liked Doreen and Hallie.

After Nicole hearing's response, Jarrod was silent for a moment. This silence made Nicole uneasy, especially since she was cornered between him and the wall. A subtle scent of alcohol lingered in the air, prompting her to ask, "Have you been drinking?"

Jarrod just grunted in response.

"I'll tell the maid to make you some soup for your hangover," Nicole offered, eager to find an excuse to get out of this awkward encounter.

Jarrod nodded and stepped aside, allowing Nicole to quickly exit the room. As he watched her leave, Jarrod reflected on the conversation he had had with Alec earlier that day.

Alec had gathered important information, revealing that the woman Nicole rushed to the hospital as Melissa was actually Jamie. This revelation caught Jarrod off guard. He hadn't anticipated Jamie altering her appearance so dramatically.

Jamie's resemblance to Nicole when she first appeared should have been a red flag. At the time, however, his judgment was clouded, his thoughts constantly plagued by the memory of Nicole pretending to be dead, clouding his analytical thoughts.

The realization that Jamie was still alive shocked Jarrod, and the discovery that she was plotting against him left him even more bewildered. Jamie had a good reason for revenge. After all, he hadn't forgiven her at the time.
