Chapter 1621:

Doreen, seeing her hands stained with Jarrod's blood, was hit by a wave of fear and fainted.
His reaction was not an attempt to evade responsibility, but an instinctive response to the horrific scene.
Both Doreen and Jarrod were rushed to hospital for urgent care.
Nicole, who was closely involved in the incident, traveled to the hospital in a police car to give a statement to the authorities.
Exhausted from the order, Nicole waited for Jarrod's assistant, Conor, who arrived shortly after. Despite the tumultuous events, Nicole remained calm.
The doctor assured Nicole that Jarrod was stable and in no immediate danger, prompting Nicole to tell Conor, âHe should come back now.â
Conor was surprised that, under such dire circumstances, Nicole decided not to stay by Jarrod's side. He knew that when Jarrod regained consciousness, Nicole would probably be the first person he would expect to see.
With a thoughtful look, Conor asked, âMiss Lawrence, are you okay? Do you need to be examined by a doctor?â
Nicole responded with a tired shake of her head: âNo need. âI just need to rest.â
However, Conor persisted, his concern evident.
âMiss Lawrence, please remember that you are pregnant and it is essential that you take extra precautions. The hospital has a VIP room that is quite comfortable. I will see to it that you rest there. Please keep an eye on Mr. Schultz for me. âI will return shortly after making arrangements.â
Before Nicole could object, Conor was already on his way to arrange accommodation.
With Conor gone, Nicole felt obliged to stay. If any complications arose, she realized that the doctors would need a point of contact. So she settled on the living room couch, waiting for news.
Meanwhile, Jarrod, who had just undergone a minor operation under light anesthesia, was beginning to come to.
As the fog of sedation lifted, Jarrod's eyes opened and, abruptly recalling the events, he exclaimed, "Nicole!"
Jarrod's voice was laced with panic, a tone Nicole had never heard from him.
Jarrod tried to sit up, his eyes darting around the room as he yelled again, âNicoleâ¦â
Nicole, conscious of her fresh bandages and the effort any movement would require, coughed softly to signal her presence and took a few steps closer. âI'm here,â she reassured him gently.
Jarrod's gaze lifted to meet hers, his voice tinged with concern. âAre you okay?â
âI'm fine. Thereâs nothing to worry about,â Nicole replied calmly.
The relief that washed over Jarrod's face was palpable, his eyes softening as the tension disappeared from his features.
In his dazed state, Jarrod was haunted by a terrifying dream. I have imagined Doreen, knife in hand, lunging at Nicole and stabbing her in the abdomen. This nightmare sent him into a state of urgency.
Suddenly, Jarrod reached out and wrapped his arms around Nicole's waist, gently resting his head on her belly. He was careful not to press too hard, enduring his own pain to maintain this tender connection.
âNicole, I beg you, hold on to our baby,â he murmured urgently.
Surprised by his sudden embrace, Nicole's initial reaction was to escape, but Jarrod's grip was both securing and reassuring, binding her tightly.
