Chapter 1642

Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook

Chapter 1642:

? ? ? ? ?

Nicole looked at him, wondering if this was still the Jarrod she knew. This unexpected change was very strange. He seemed less distant and more approachable, almost like a completely different person.

Nicole wasn't going to give free rein to her emotions. She told him: "Yes, I'm nice, but I choose who I'm nice to."

The message was clear.

Jarrod was silent. After a moment, he said, “I want to eat that fish.”

Nicole hesitated, but decided to oblige. Since he was still recovering, she selected a boneless piece from the belly of the fish and gave it to him along with the congee.

This was routine for Jarrod. He always offered Nicole the first piece of tuna belly.

After eating the bacon, Jarrod said, “I’m full.”

Nicole replied, “You should eat more so you can recover faster.” That way Conor wouldn't have to pretend that his stomach hurts. She had seen through Conor's act.

Jarrod didn't argue. He looked at the fish bones and said, "Nicole, I'm sorry. I wish I hadn't been so hard on you before."

Nicole remained silent.

Jarrod watched her intently. Perhaps because the thought of another child among them made him think more deeply. How did things come to this?

Mitchel had once pointed out that Jarrod was too extreme in his ways, his love and hate overwhelming.

Mitchel had made similar mistakes before, but had recognized them in time to make amends, which had led to his current happiness.

Happiness… Jarrod dared to dream of it. I have simply prayed for Nicole to have a safe delivery. He was determined to do things right.

As Nicole offered him another spoonful of rice soup, she said, “Let’s not dwell on the past. I’m happy with our current dynamic, not too close, not too far, giving us both space.”

Nicole preferred not to give any further details. After all, with two children soon to be part of their lives, a strained relationship would not be beneficial to their children's mental and emotional development.

Plus, Austin had begun to like Jarrod, a sign that Jarrod had put some real effort into their relationship. Winning Austin's affections was non-trivial achievement.

Even though Jarrod hadn't completely taken Roscoe's place in Austin's heart, it was still a big step forward. This reminded Nicole of something about Roscoe. “I asked Roscoe to analyze those pills he and I took. I’m considering trying them on Austin.”

Jarrod frowned and said, “Are these suitable for Austin?”

Jarrod was familiar with the effects of the pills. Nicole's medical report was the most compelling evidence. Even the experts he had spoken to could not understand his sudden improvement.

Although Nicole had recovered, the decision to use those pills on Austin required careful thought.

“Roscoe checked the ingredients for me. It's safe. Austin's condition is pretty unique. If we delay, it could be more risky. Even if the pills only offer temporary relief, I think it’s worth a try.”

Nicole had not taken these pills for some time. So far, no negative side effects suggested any possible benefits.

Although Nicole had her reservations, she could not ignore the witches' claims that they greatly extended life, even if they stopped short of promising immortality.
