Chapter 1672
Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook
Chapter 1672:

âIt's not exactly leverage,â Raegan said. âI do think Jarrod has feelings for you. He risked his life in the mountains to rescue you. Despite warnings about the danger, he kept going. He even nearly drove off a cliff trying to save you. That says a lot about his feelings.â
Nicole was surprised by Raegan's positive comments about Jarrod. Before, Raegan had always berated Jarrod, openly wishing she could tear him apart.
âHave you changed your mind about him?â Nicole inquired.
"I'm not changing my mind, I'm just acknowledging the facts. I saved your life and I'm grateful for that. But that doesn't erase what he did before," Raegan explained.
This response was so characteristic of Raegan. She was always sharp, clearly distinguishing between being grateful and forgiving.
âYou're right. I appreciate him saving me, but I can't sweep his previous actions under the rug. âI think itâs best that he and I stay distant, just enough to fulfill our duties to our children, to raise them well,â Nicole commented, expressing her thoughts on her future with Jarrod.
Nicole was looking forward to the arrival of the baby, which would pave the way for her divorce. Afterwards, she and Jarrod could concentrate on their role as parents. She believed that living together and continuing to make each other unhappy would do no good for their children. Independence and co-parenting seemed the most sensitive path.
âYou are right,â Raegan agreed. âYou have children now. If Jarrod can maintain his good behavior and you two can live together without conflict, it will be beneficial to the childrenâs growth.â
Raegan hugged Nicole warmly, reassuring her, âWhatever you decide, I will support you unconditionally, just as you have always supported me.â
âThank you, Raegan,â Nicole said sincerely. Without a supportive friend like Raegan who understood her deeply, Nicole felt at a loss when she came to confide her problems and frustrations. She feared losing her cool under pressure.
âDon't be so formal with me,â Raegan smiled, handing Nicole some food. âNow you have to take better care of yourself.â
After a while, Raegan asked, "I heard there's been some progress in your father's case?"
âYes, it turns out my father was murdered and the investigation is ongoing,â Nicole replied.
âMy God, did they murder your father? How could anyone hurt such a kind man?â Raegan exclaimed, struggling to believe that anyone would attack Wesson, who was known for his benevolence.
At first, everyone had blamed Jarrod for Wesson's death, but it was discovered that Wesson's death was not related to Jarrod. They had all been wrong.
âWe will find this man,â Nicole said solemnly, her eyes alight with unwavering hatred. She needed to catch her father's killer and understand his motives.
âYou have to be careful,â Raegan warned. âYour father would want you to be safe. Let the professionals handle the chase.â
Nicole agreed. âRest assured, I will protect myself.â
During the meal and conversation, the topic turned to Rhett. Expressing her gratitude, Nicole commented, âI appreciate you introducing me to Rhett. His help has been invaluable, but I don't know how to express my thanks without seeming too forward.â
âRhett?â Raegan raised an eyebrow. âHeâs back in the country?â
âYou weren't aware?â Nicole was puzzled by Raegan's confusion.
âI had no idea. I learned that he was thriving abroad after leaving the Dixon Group. He was working at WDC, an internationally renowned law firm. Given the demanding nature of his work, I had not anticipated his return,â Raegan explained.
